My partner and I stayed here during our bicycle travels in China. The hotel was very generous holding a package for us for several months as we traveled from Xinjiang through Mongolia and back to China. They also held our bicycles for a week while we took a hiatus to Datong. The staff were friendly and Mark spoke excellent English and helped us a lot with arranging for taxis or other things that we needed. There are not any restaurants or really other businesses nearby - we needed to taxi into town for anything. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean on our initial stay. The pool was just a few lanes and the gym was pretty sp****, but both exist. The restaurant breakfast buffet was expansive but also expensive. It was better when the hotel was busy and the food turnover higher.

It was a nice and cool stay because of the hot springs and spas. I did not expect that the room I booked was a smoking one so I had to talk to the front desk on duty to ask if possible to change my room into a non-smoking one. Sadly, I was told that all rooms are smoking. The room was comfy enough if not because of the cigarette smoke. There was no hair dryer in the room but I had to go to the public area of women’s floor and bath just to dry up my hair. Upon Checkout, I had communication problem with the front desk staff since I paid the room online I was surprised that they charged me again. I made it sure that I booked and paid online. It took me like an hour or so to solve the issue. I’m grateful to the people who had helped me translate. To the staff on duty thanks for the patience, I know it was hard for you guys to speak English but kudos to all of you. Great efforts are appreciated. All in all the place is good for family weekend and or gatherings and outings. I’d definitely be back but I won’t use their business class room ever.

The inn is located on a high ground, so you can watch the sunset in the afternoon. The trip to Huanghuagou on the second day was too tiring, because the ropeway can only seat two people at a time and the capacity is too low. I waited in line for two hours to get on it, and then I took the animal-drawn shuttle bus and the small train, which also had a longer queue than the ropeway. It took less time, but there was still a long queue. The overall experience of visiting Huanghuagou is not very good. I can’t say it’s tiring. I spent more than half of the 6 hours there waiting in line. The glass bridge costs 20/person without queuing. The rafting costs 50/person and you have to queue.
