Caledonian Hotel 'a Bespoke Hotel’

Walls are paper thin. Did not do breakfast as I thought it was too expensive. Location, staff were good. My booking was a last minute decision so I was probably lucky to get a room.

The location was good, very close to the port and maine street. However, the hotel itself is very old and is in desperate need of a renovation. Facilities and rooms were very very old, and it almost felt like a hospital rather than a hotel! Of course, not as clean as a hospital would be. Breakfast was terrible as well and all in all this was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed. Lastly, wifi wasn't working anywhere in the hotel, I called reception to ask if there's anything that can be done and I was advised they'll look into it and call me back. As expected no one ever called me back. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

Beautiful hotel, staff always smile and are very friendly. Rooms are modern and spacious.

Whole building could do with being upgraded. Book online as try to fleece you if you turn up at reception.

Friendly helpful receptionist. Waitress at dinner very nice too. Overall we enjoyed our stay. No lift and steep stairs up to second floor carrying case was only disappointment on arrival. Decoration fresh and clean for an old building.

I was plesantly surprised when I popped inside the Caledonian Hotel. I just thought from the outside, the place resembled a Pub! Thankfully, not the case. The room was small and boxy but it fit my needs as a solo traveler. I wasn't keen on the space between the end of the bed and the desk, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Everything was clean - bathroom, bedding etc. I loved the drinks tray which included a portion of hot chocolate, Border biscuits, sachets of UHT Milk, not that powdered creamer rubbish. Breakfast spread was good, staff were polite, looked happy. Wish they provided butter, I guess they have shares in 'Flora' Didn't that used to be labelled the Margarine for Men many years ago? It's vile stuff anyway. Self service coffee was from a bean to cup machine and it made awesome coffee, I went back for more thinking I wouldn't get another decent coffee once I left the hotel! All in all, I highly recommend staying in this hotel, I wish I had stayed longer in Ullapool actually, but I was on a bus tour, we arrived late and left early the next day.
