An aesthetically beautiful and comfortable stay. If you’re looking for convenience and ease to enjoy the beautiful city of Durban, stay here. Except for the block-out curtains that wouldn’t close fully, you’re amazed at the beauty of the sea from sunrise to sunset! Definitely worth it!

What a good hotel with such a beautiful atmosphere and all the amazing people I met here!

It's very close to the beach, very safe, I like it here. There is also a very delicious steak house nearby, and some seafood restaurants. There is food everywhere, very delicious, and the price is not high.

The hotel facilities are relatively new, the room is big enough, and the breakfast is okay. Below is the bar street, which is convenient for eating and drinking. There is also a SPAR supermarket and shopping mall opposite, which is convenient for shopping. Those who like to exercise can walk another 200 meters to the beach for running and exercising.

Safe were out . Usable to use it and table need to be fix . Air conditioner must fix. 9th floor Water pressure not as strong as 6th floor.

Most amazing hotel in the heart of Umhlanga. Every aspect of our stay was 5 star, from an amazing check-in all the way to our departure. Most definitely excellent value for money and a perfect location.

Wonderful experience! 5 star comfortable room, beautiful views, and convenient location to shops and restaurants and of course, the ocean. Breakfast (additional cost) also very good with several options and eggs made to order.

As a loyal, monthly returning client at Protea Marriott, i was sorely disappointed with the level of service. I was given room 552. Which has no sea view. It has a whole wall blocking even sunlight into the room & a view of the flat across. I requested a change of room as i checked in around 5pm. I was told they fully booked and the lady who checked me in, didnt even check if i could be moved. She was so unhelpful! Also in my room, the amenities keep getting worse with each visit. I didnt even have tissues this time round. Also, get new towels.

Great location. Walkable. Breakfast nuffet wasn't worth the cost and their computer systems were down frequently

Good option in Umhlanga rocks. Things which could be improved easily: - more careful room service (one day room was done by the housekeeping and the towel replacement was not provided, I had to call to have them back) - I had to ask for the shower mat and it disappeared again the following day. Looks like it’s not part of the standard provision - the sustainability policy for towels is just on the paper. Even if I left them hanging for reuse, these have been changed daily. Last, one bottle of water could be added in the room at least at the arrival as a courtesy.

Previously there use to be individual amenities for shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. This time, there was ONE bottle for all 3 in the shower. As a woman, i was horrified. There is no longer a shower cap given or even a devent sized soap.
