The hotel facilities are relatively new, the room is big enough, and the breakfast is okay. Below is the bar street, which is convenient for eating and drinking. There is also a SPAR supermarket and shopping mall opposite, which is convenient for shopping. Those who like to exercise can walk another 200 meters to the beach for running and exercising.

I've travelled to the Oyster Box for business many times in the past 18 months - the service is exceptional, location fantastic and I couldn't think of anywhere better to stay. Sea View rooms are fantastic and although I rarely make it, breakfast is a delight. My favorite aspects are the concierge who always remembers you and provides a fantastic greeting, the Chukka Bar - just wish it was open later, special thanks to Mzamo who has made me and the Mrs feel welcome since day 1 and Julian, one of their drivers - who is always attentive and makes sure me and my Mrs are looked after - he even took us two minutes down the road when he saw us walking one day. Reminded to write this review as looking forward to my 'home away from home' tomorrow night!
Our sophisticated guest rooms are light, bright, and airy. Enjoy free WiFi in your room and free coffee in the lobby. We have a pool, a fitness center, and a 24-hour snack shop. The Garden Grille restaurant serves a fresh, cooked-to-order breakfast every morning and cocktails at the bar.

The large gateway mall is a 7-10mins walk and is filled with all kinds of entertainment, food, shopping experiences you may need. The hotel service is good. Ultimate highlight of my trip was the pool 🏊♀️ clean and never busy.

This review relates mainly to one specific issue, but it was the reason that I selected this hotel over the other choice I had. I run but do not like running on the road in cities I do not know. I therefore selected Coastlands as it has a fitness centre. My other option didn't. There are two treadmills in the fitness centre, both essentially unusable. The one is stuck in about a 3 degree incline and cannot be flattened. The other had a dilapidated running belt that was torn and which kept ”sticking” or ”stalling” every third or fourth step of my left foot. I've never seen such dilapidated equipment at any other hotel I've stayed at. There were also button covers missing and buttons that did not work. While the room was clean and nice, there was no lighting above the desk which made working on a laptop difficult. The water spout control on the bidet was broken. The plug on the sink leaked water at a rapid rate.

The hotel is in a great location and the staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't particularly like the restaurant/ room service menu as it ONLY had milkshakes on their drinks menu. You have to inquire about other drinks like wine, juices, coffee etc. It would be nicer if all the drinks prices were listed. The kettle in my room was dirty but housekeeping and the front desk were apologetic and replaced it with a clean kettle quickly. Every cafe or restaurant around the hotel opens at 9a.m, so I recommend paying for the hotel breakfast buffet if you're an early bird like me. I learnt about loadshedding after coming back from a day out and finding no power except a light and the tv in my room. For foreign guests who don't know about it, it might be a nice touch if the hotel could place the loadshedding schedule in guest rooms so it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise. The bed was comfy and the wifi was usually fast. Overall, I had a good stay at the hotel.

We had an Amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express, Umhlanga. This has to be one of the best service I've experienced (local and international included). Wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this Establishment. Check in was awesome. Brendan and team were extremely Welcoming, Friendly and Efficient. We were settled into the room in no time as well as informed of all the amenities. We traveled as a group and the team helped us to get rooms close to each other which was so convenient. Breakfast was scrumptious and the service exceeded our expectations. Trisha and the team take their work and service to customers so seriously - like it's their own company. My son wanted Chocolate muffins and they baked it specially for him - how amazing is that! We were leaving early to the airport and Trisha offered to have breakfast ready from 5am - was so impressed and grateful. This has to be one of the best hotels across the world. Kudos to the team and leadership. Highly recommend anyone to not hesitate to book here. Thanks so much guys

The hotel is super convenient, opposite the shopping mall, there is a very good steak at the door, and the home circuscircuscafe opens at 7 o'clock, the breakfast is very delicious. You can also book a 4-hour city tour at the front desk, which is also very good. High cost performance

Outstanding
In October, my friend and I spent 6 most pleasurable days at the Ocean View Boutique Guest House. Our room, number 4, was cosy and well designed, featuring a lovely balcony with an eye-filling view of the Indian Ocean. The breezes and the sound of the surf were so relaxing. A delicious breakfast (eggs, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, breads, and coffee/tea - yum!) was served on the upstairs open-air deck, with more spectacular views. Our hostess, Snezana, is really a delight, and beyond helpful, and her staff are friendly, cheerful, and efficient. We felt really welcomed during our stay. Uber is available and convenient for sightseeing/shopping/dining in the Umhlanga area or for the city. One cannot find a better choice for a quiet, beautiful guest house in Durban. Lin and Sharon
GGuest UserI had a reasonably good stay at the Garden Court Hotel in Umhlanga. the room comfortable and the food was delicious, especially the Mac and Cheese and the spiced chicken wings. Only criticisms were the pillows being all hard and the TV channels that were very limited.
The place was well cleaned. Ambience was tranquil and serene. View from the balcony is beautiful & refreshing. Thilo and Elaine were great however there was no hot water in my suite resulting in me taking an almost cold shower the afternoon I checked in. I was moved to another room the next day but I was really really looking forward to spending my time there in the Suite I booked. Breakfast was disappointing, there was 1 person trying to serve 14 people which was not impressive. I suggest more staff on the floor during Breakfast as it becomes frustrating having to wait for service you already paid for. Will I return? Unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives.
Aalethea734I had the pleausure of staying at the HoneyPot which I was in Umhlanga for Work. I was out the entire day and HoneyPot was just my place to sleep. Bob is the best host! He is such a kind soul and saw my early mornings and my late nights so proceeded to make my stay enjoyable non the less, Thank you so much Bob for my packed breakfasts that you had made everyday and put in my room so that i had something to eat before I left. And thank you to your amazing staff for cleaning my room so well that when i Came home late it was so nice to climb into a warm made up bed. Thank you for Having me! I would definitely visit again :)
Service from reception and housekeeping needs some attention, we requested for a porter which did not come, we had to carry our own luggage out. room service was pathetic, we ordered a meal which did not come after being told that it was on its way. it is disappointing as Royal palm is our preference hotel to stay at when we visit KZN
SSiyandaThis is the friendliest hotel in Umhlanga with the best views at the restaurant and the bar. Best breakfast and dinner menus. Hygiene is at the tee, the staff is friendly and helpful.
GGuest UserFor some of the best views in Umhlanga, try to secure a room on the top floor. Room 903 at The Premier Splendid Inn Umhlanga is seafacing & was absolutely fabulous with top decor. The deluxe suite is complete with living room & gorgeous bedroom with king size bed & a balcony. A huge luxurious bath tub with separate shower and all the frills made for a gorgeous pamper session. We ordered room service with delicious grub and experienced phenomenal service throughout our stay. Definitely a winner!
GGuest UserOverall stay at Breakers Positive Staff: Friendly staff at checking and the porters assistance was really great. Thanks Emm for your assistance and great customer service. Location of the resort: The resort is central and one has quick access to the malls, restaurants and highway. View Stunning view and good seenary Negative review: The blanks in room 802 had bed bugs. This was reported to the housekeeping manager. They manage to change the linen but it’s unacceptable for a 4 star hotel Price The cost of the stay was not worth the value I paid. The prices vary on a daily basis but I paid a flat rate of R3396.60 for weekday and weekend stay. I stayed 4 days / 5 nights. Cleanliness of the apar**ent Bathrooms were still dirty at check in. One can see they redo the walls and tiles however the peel paint was still on the floor throughout my stay. Please go check it might still be behind the bathroom door. Shop No shop at the premises to buy swim goodies for kids. Entertainment for kids: It is limited, I tried accessing the games area and it was locked through my stay. There is only one pool table at the pool area. Swipe facilities for put put is not available all is cash. My proposal is to charge the fees to the room and bill the guest at checkout. Braai area Braai-ing is not allowed Friday’s and Saturday’s, not on, as South Africans we prefer to braai over these days and on certainly on holiday. Beach access Breaker’s resort has no stair case to the Beach, one has to walk right down to bronze beach to have access and enjoy. Swimming No swimming between 7-9am and pools closes at 10pm. Ekko time shares In terms of the POPI act one need to consent for personal information to be shared with a 3rd party. KKash2309The resort has good facilities although there is no longer access to the nature reserve. The rooms are dated. Bath tubs seem to be from the 1990s. Furthermore, there are several rules and restriction’s about use of facilities, visitors and room allocation which are subject to management’s discretion. Some rules are enforced by smooth talking security guards who can ‘help you avoid a hefty fine’ for a small service fee. I understand the importance of rules in running a large resort however leaving their enforcement to the discretion of *****s is even more dangerous.
