We were in Vail recently for our nephew's wedding. We booked a unit at Vail 21, thankfully when we did, Because it changed owners/management companies(?) and price nearly doubled. We booked unt 601 specifically, because we were told it had in unit washer/dryer. If it did, we didn't have access - first strike. The unit has been redone recently( a 2 bdrm to a 3 bdrm) and appliances are new. The bathroom fixtures are modern and confusing to use. The upstairs sinks are angled and what little water pressure comes from those bizzare faucets - see photo- splashes all over you and the vanity and floor - strike 2. The only plus upstairs is the steam generator to turn the shower into a semi steam room. There is a sliding door to balcony overlooking the town and several big windows. The bad is, at 5 am the sun starts rising and the room lightens up. There is no place to put your suitcase. Just built in headboard with shelves and small spaces for hanging things - strike 3 The downstairs bedroom/bath had similar headboard. Luckily the window was on different wall and room stayed dark. Downside, not much air flow (unit doesn't have ac) so a box fan was needed - they're in every room running. The toilet kept running and maintenance came quick. The guy told us we would have to shut the water off after each use - he'd never seen a more complicated flush valve (neither had I ) and his boss would have to look at it. Strike 4. The other downstairs bedroom is small. So small it has to have a murphy bed - when in use there's hardly room to move. Again no closet, just hooks on the door. Strike 5. the real problem is the baseboard heater for the room - the murphy bed is built on top of it, see photos. And there was styrofoam taped to the headboard - to keep pillows from falling down the hole? - they did anyway. Thankfully, no heat was needed, otherwise, I'm sure a fire would have possibly started. - A HUGE Strike 6. the last bath room is cramped as they stuffed a shower in it. The design/fit is poor and water leaks all over the floor. Strike 7. During our stay, the hot tub was being replaced - watching those guys hump that hot tub up and over the roof was amazing. Why? because it wouldn't fit the world's smallest elevator. Hardly any of their material and equipment would. You're lucky to get 3 adults in it. Oh, and lets not forget parking, or the lack of. Vail 21 shares a small parking lot with several buildings and it's a confused mess, all the assigned spots are jumbled up and mixed in with no parking tow away signs. 601 is billed as a 3 bdrm/3 bath condo Yet we were given only1 assigned spot. Our son who came in later, had to park in the ***** deck across the street - at $35 a night, daytime is free.(?) Strike 8 Vail 21 is in the heart and a convenient walk or shuttle ride to most places. Now some might say i'm being unnecessarily critical, Well, I don't. All are legitimate concerns. Besides,I work hard for my money and the way prices are, I expect the same
