El Silencio is one of the most fantastic lodges in Costa Rica, we had a wonderful stay. 1st room: Well, it wasn't a room, more like a palace. We had a lodge on the other side of the river, super exclusive, only connected to the hotel compound by a suspension bridge (how cool is that) and a short walk through the rainforest. (Alternatively, there was also a road, but what's the point if you have a walk like this?) The lodge itself was super, with a large fully glazed living room in the centre, children's room on the left, bedroom on the right, lots of privacy, private punge pool, veranda with outdoor gas stove, great cookies every day - what more could you need? 2nd Hotel Compound Everything super, everything there, pool, fitness - simply wonderful ground 3. treks / activities: We walked to the waterfalls and then went swimming there, about 2 hours there and back. Otherwise the night walk was great, saw lots of frogs and insects, well explained and also interesting for children Conclusion: Wonderful lodge, beautifully remote, absolutely unique in terms of nature.

Our stay at this charming Relais & Châteaux hotel in Costa Rica was truly a remarkable experience. Nestled in a remote but uniquely beautiful cloud forest, this location offers an unparalleled connection to nature that is both serene and captivating. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Our villa was excellent—spacious, comfortable, and complete with a private hot tub that provided the perfect place to unwind while surrounded by the sounds of the forest. The property itself is a haven for adventure and relaxation, with so much to do right on-site. There are trails that led to stunning waterfalls, archery, a little farm, and even zip-lines through the forest. The pool area was also lovely, offering a peaceful spot. The knowledgeable guides added so much to our experience, sharing insights about the rich biodiversity of the area. Our only regret is that we could only stay for one night, as this place truly deserves more time to fully appreciate all it has to offer. It was a wonderful, special stay, and I highly recommend this hotel and this area of Costa Rica to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.

This resort was spectacular. From check in to check out, we had a remarkable experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful. The resort was beautiful. The food was excellent. The best part, was being so surrounded by nature that we were able to leave the outside world behind even for the few days we were there and reconnect as a family.

Best experience with the family! We have a family of 5 - teen and tweenagers - and we ALL had an incredible time. The service was unbelievable from everyone from the moment we arrived. Mike was amazing and took very good care of us, as did Jimmy. Estephen, Bryan, and Jose were our guides for zip lining, archery and the waterfall activities. They were funny, engaging and the kids (and us adults) enjoyed our time with them. Estephanie did our coffee tasting session and we loved every minute. I know we are missing some names (like Alejandro and a few others!) but I can say everyone really was incredible and the experience of staying in the cloud forest at El Silencio was top notch. Just the waterfalls on property are worth the stay. The hot tub was a hit, the rooms were spacious and extremely clean (thank you Jacqueline!) and the food was amazing on top of it all. Definitely would recommend this place!

This lodge and spa is located in a valley between two mountain ranges at about 5000 feet (compared to Monte Verde 4300 feet) and is considered to be within the range of cloud forest. When we arrived, we were checked in and the host was very nice but failed to give us clear information of how to navigate the privately owned cloud forest with very hilly resort location and four water falls all within the property. Even though we mentioned that my wife is just recovering from knee surgery he completely ignored the fact. It was very cloudy and misty, and we wanted to finish the waterfall trail that evening. There are no clearly marked trail makers, nor the maps given were accurate. Maps were schematic and could not be relied upon for trekking. When my wife and I followed the trail, we reached a fork and had to decide to take either the mystery trail or melody trail. The map or the board showed no information on the level of difficulty. Our check in host just mentioned that they were both in a loop. We took the melody trail which turned out to be a big mistake and we struggled a lot in the hiking. This could have been easily avoided by any indication of difficulty levels by the guide, signboard, or the map. In any case, we made it. The waterfall was just OK, luckily while returning we took the mystery trail which was much easier and well paved though at some forks there were no sign. I do wish the property will improve so the visit will be much better for others in future.

It is a cold-hearted resort; we were hoping for so much more, having stayed at a similar set-up at Pacaure Lodge and loved it. Our room was lovely, and the grounds are fantastic, but the hotel needs to learn that this is not what makes a trip amazing. From hiring bikes to any activities, including a night walk, everything cost money. Food not Costa Rican and was mediocre and cost a fortune and youre trapped there so can't go anywhere else - why not include in a package cost?,Breakfast is $35 a glass of wine $20. Room service orders were incorrect and small portioned. We were staying in the most expensive lodge available, but it was cleaned once in our 3-night stay . 3 thin slices of orange were there for us when we arrived (for 4 of us) - no fruit bowl etc as is normal at this accommodation cost level. We asked for our hot tubs to be turned down slightly as they were too hot to sit in. They were turned to cold, and despite us asking several times and chasing up, they were never turned back on. It felt like a money generating place with no feeling etc

We ended our trip at El Silencio, which made it even harder to go home. Our stay was top-quality. From checking in to all the personal touches and saying goodbye, we were treated incredibly well. The hotel's location is incomparable to other rainforests due to its height and the work the hotel is doing to preserve the area. The hotel's quality is represented in its pricing, but it is all worth it. The team were amazing, and the hotel was breathtaking.

My family and I (4 adults and 2 children) just came back from our 4 night stay at El Silencio. It was a truly wonderful stay. The property is absolutely beautiful, clean and well maintained. There is an overall peaceful and magical feeling, from the mountains, rivers and lush landscape. The service is superior to any I have ever experienced, having stayed at numerous 5 start resorts. Every single person was exceptionally kind, professional and helpful. No request was ever met with any hesitation or annoyance. Shout out to Luis, who made our dining experience so warm and enjoyable! Just a truly lovely person. And speaking of, the food is top notch. Fresh, great variety and lovely presentation. The only negative was that we had booked a 3 bedroom villa, and when we arrived it was not available, and we were not told in advance, which was a little frustrating and disappointing. However, it was handled in a professional and appropriate manner and we were pleased. Instead, we stayed in a 2 bedroom riverside villa, which was stunning. The spaciousness, layout, amenities, decor and cleanliness were excellent. Overall, a vacation to remember! Highly recommend!
