The hotel is situated centrally at the top of Gran Canaria and as such has staggering beautiful panoramas from both its rooms and public areas. It is in a unique and unforgettable position close to a large number of well sign posted walks (most will need either a car or taxi to access) The hotel has been recently renovated and modernised to a high standard. Our superior room was in the original building, was spotlessly clean, well furnished and quiet. The view from its very large balcony was stunning) Be prepared for rapid weather variations as cloud blows in and out, temperatures can drop dramatically and it can be both sunny and hot and foggy and cold on the same day! Service in the restaurant can be erratic although the food quality is very good. The Spa is quite basic and, we felt, somewhat over priced. This hotel is ‘an experience’ and amongst the most memorable, for good reasons, we have ever stayed in.

Superb central location by the cathedral so easy access to the local centre of town, shops restaurants etc. For travel it’s also easy to flag down taxi cabs. Suites 1478 is an old building beautifully renovated for the better healed traveller. However we found the rooms odour over powering, ambiance dark and depressing. Layout and supplies were adequate with underground car park access nearby. No English channels on tv ! Internet was pretty much NO GO!! Advised to try the Cathedral cafe supply 🤷♀️ but still no access. Even moved rooms as an essential these days and still no reliable connection. Hotel said it was ‘ being fixed next week when we complained but I think an ongoing issue as electrically /internet has a major flaw. Breakfast display was good but nothing covered, and no freshly cooked food especially eggs- eggs cooked at 8 am if not taken we’re still there at 10. One major dislike was the fact the breakfast was open to locals and visitors so often busy and hence lost the cosy feel and often we felt intruding.🤔 Staff were pleasant and helpful but sure to attend to outside guests first we noted.

We were placed here due to a 35 hour delay over 200 guests and the hotel dealt really well with tired stressed passengers it is not where we wanted to be but they have dealt with the whole situation very well and compassionately unlike tui who left us stranded

The first room had two single beds shoved together. We asked for a double bed “cama matrimonial” and we’re given a second room that was completely inacceptable. The door was broken, it wouldn’t shut properly, the shower door sealant was half off, the toilet would flush, the sink wouldn’t drain, and the soap dispenser was broken. The front desk arranged for us to have an acceptable room which was an upgrade and completely functional. However it took 2 room changes and when they moved our things they tossed a half bottle of premium red wine. And to be fair, they offered a second bottle of decent wine, but why toss our wine?

We stayed in the hotel for a few nights before a cruise. It’s in an ideal location. 200 metres from the Canteras beach and 400 metres from Santa Catalina bus station which is just beside the cruise terminal. The commercial centre is 600 metres away. There’s a lot of restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets in the immediate surrounding area. A taxi to the old town is 6 Euros. Rooms are modern, clean, have a free safe, mini fridge, complimentary water & toiletries, and a nice bathroom with powerful shower. A quiet room coupled with comfortable beds and great latex pillows meant we got a good night’s sleep. We prepaid breakfast which offered high quality cereals, cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, breads, fruit and some hot options together with juices and coffee. The hotel has left luggage lockers and a courtesy toilet and shower facilities which we appreciated as we had a late flight. Staff were excellent: professional, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

We booked this for a 7 night stay via ***********. It was selected as was in a convenient location for our needs. There are positives and negatives: Positives: ＞ Polite, knowledgeable and friendly reception team available 24/7. ＞ Clean room and common areas ＞ Cleaners in alternate days, (albeit early) - so we put the ”Do not Disturb”notice on the door. ＞ Large, comfortable bed ＞ Excellent shower, plenty of hot water. ＞ Air conditioning (but we did not need to use it). ＞ Good kitchen facilities, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee machine, kettle. This was a one night stay before picking up the cruise ship Azamara Onward. To get to check-in, you have to go up one storey from ground level by climbing a fancy set of entrance steps. There is a 1970s ”baggage lift” to the rhs, and if you have a disability you can use that, but it has no sides, and moves at a snails pace whilst your finger has to stay on the button. This lack in investment speaks volumes about this hotel. I was given a superior room due to loyalty scheme status, but it was nothing special. The air con was noisy, and the room lacked charging points. The mattress wasn't that great, and the bedding was musty. Dinner in the 23rd floor restaurant was a farce. The restaurant was fairly full with cruise guests on a dinner package that included a buffet and drinks. Rather than allowing us to pay for the same buffet, we were forced to choose from a very limited overpriced restaurant menu. The food was disgusting. The extremely processed food ”burger” was still raw in the middle; the hake was aslso still raw in the middle and both had to be sent back to the kitchen. They couldn't even cook the chips. My travel companion said that breakfast in the morning was even more of a disaster - not enough seats for the guests, nor enough food out. Would I stay here again? Well, I used Marriott points, so it was free. If I was paying for it, I'd want my money back.....
