KOA Dinosaurland

We were here as part of a cross country family fun trip from western NY to Vernal Utah. We wanted to learn about the Oregon trail and experience some hiking in and around the Dinosaur National monument near Vernal. We found the campgrounds to be better than what I had expected. It was clean, well kept, and fun. The pool wasn’t crystal clear but it was well cared for and the kids were happy to jump in and cool off in between long family hiking adventures. We enjoyed the complementary jumping pillow, mini golf and playground as well. The staff was incomparably friendly and helpful. They were all hard working, and truly cared about the campground as well as taking pride in the quality of their work. Kudos to the housekeeping crew on site especially miss “ Rebel” as nicked name by her father. We loved how she stopped and chatted after her shift ended, because she wished to thank my husband for his service as a fireman ( because she saw his shirt which disclosed that he was a fire chief) and once invited to sit with us she told us wonderful and endearing stories about her aging parents that entertained all of my family as well as enriching us in some of the culture of the area!!! Thank you. The location was great to get to many fun locations such as Moonshine Arch, Red Fleet park, the museum, dinosaur national monument, fantasy canyon, and my personal favorite was the UTV trip I took to see Skinwalker Ranch ( look up UFO Valley UTV tours). We stayed in our 45’ motor home and had plenty of room at our site. We enjoyed walking our dog through the campground and seeing the super interesting teepees that were for rent near the tent areas,for camping in, as well as the cottages and cabins that all looked very cool!! We hope to return to the area some time and we will return to the campground.

We stayed in one of the Deluxe Camper Cabins for 4 nights and it was awesome! Originally we had reserved the "Sundance Kid" cabin but once we had all of our stuff unpacked, we discovered that the hot water wasn't working. Juanita was working in the office and quickly offered us the cabin next door, "Butch Cassidy". It was a much nicer cabin with a full sized refrigerator, nicer bathroom, and more room. It was kind of a pain to have to move all of our stuff, but was well worth it. She did not charge us the extra money that it normally would've cost for the upgrade, so that was much appreciated. The campground itself was well maintained and all of the employees were hard working and friendly. There are lots of great places to hike nearby including Fantasy Canyon, Moonshine Arch and Dinosaur National Monument. We hiked The Sound Of Silence trail and the Desert Voices Nature Trail in the National Monument. All of the hikes are highly recommended!

We stayed in a deluxe cabin at a high price and was very disappointed in several ways. The on-demand hot water tank never provided hot water so we could not use the shower or wash dishes. Also, internet TV is provided when cable TV is advertised. Since the internet service is limited, TV was accessible for less than 5 minutes at a time. Users of the cabins near us, had the same bad experiences. We anticipated better services from a KOA and will not return to this one. Worst of all, after paying such a high price, when we reported these issues we were only told - we’ll check into it.

Close bathrooms were closed. 3 Washers not working Working one had an odor. Showed were clean. Lots of activities for children. Grated fire pits. Ample pull throughs. Shade over picnic tables. Good location if you’re visiting Dinosaur National Monument
