Silver Star Motel

Nice and affordable option . Good for budget friendly stay.

Absolutely horrified by the unprofessionalism of the owner. Our air conditioner was broken and he was too proud to admit it even though he was visibly dripping in sweat when he entered our room to take a look. Not to mention the fact that I am 7 months pregnant and was told the room had functioning air conditioning. Threatened to call the cops on us for reporting the issue to him and all we wanted was for the room to be cold when it is 35° outside. He wouldn’t give us a refund either but was not providing a service we paid for. Disappointed by the lack of kindness from both him and his wife. I do not recommend this place at all.

When the fires were burning in Kelowna we decided to get out. We drove up to Vernon arriving there about midnight. Despite the late hour, we managed to get a room at the Silver Star. The couple running the motel couldn't have been more helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the price was extremely reasonable. We liked the location too, as it was walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants. We were very thankful to find a place to stay on such short notice, since hundreds of others were also looking for a place to stay. We are happy to recommend this motel to others.

This is a great little motel right off the highway, close to many different eateries. They even offer discount coupons for many of them. My room was super clean and had a little kitchenette which was so convenient. I love the fact that you can park right in front of your unit. Wonderful, hardworking couple that actually care about their business and your comfort. Will recommend this motel to people and stay here again. Thanks for a great sleep!

Two issues that rated a poor rating. 1. I had to leave a $300.00 damage deposit for a one night stay. When I checked out in the morning, I was told they would refund the money to my credit card in a day or so after they had inspected the room. I said No, and wanted them to refund the deposit before I left, so the manager went and inspected the room. Look, I am 74 years old, on my own, with no pets, don't smoke and am in bed sleeping by 8:00 pm. No need for that kind of damage deposit. And why should I have to wait for a few days for them to inspect. If there was a "perceived" problem I would be long gone (as would my money.) with no way to argue any case. 2. The lock to the door did not work. You had to jiggle and twist and turn to get the door to unlock. The manager demonstrated the moves for me and he had trouble. New locks are cheap and time to replace is minimal. Fix the lock! Will not stay here again.

It’s on the main drag in Vernon so easy to access. The staff, seemed like a family run place, were friendly and polite and welcoming. It’s an older building and it’s showing, but it was clean and close enough to walk places if needed. The price was right during off season. Would stay there again.

The Silver Star was excellent value for your money. The room was spacious, nice and clean. The staff service was also excellent. They had a very nice gas powered wall heater. That kept the room very nice and toasty. It was nice to stand in front of it, and enjoy the heat, just like standing in front of a fireplace. The location was also excellent, in that restaurants and stores gas stations were all nice and close by. And yet the Silver Star was nice and quiet for your sleep. I would highly recommend the Silver Star, for anyone who's traveling in the area.

The only thing I liked was it's proximity to restaurants. Easy to walk to. I disliked the parking and lack of ease to move around. I also did not like all the signs in the room about what I was to do or not do. I also did not appreciate the "damage" deposit and the extra fees for the pet.
