The accommodation embodies the essence of a traditional Spanish house, and our desire to experience the old Philippines is what draws us to Vigan. As a restaurateur, I find it particularly disheartening to wake up and discover that breakfast is “managed.” After years in the industry, I know that in some cultures, this approach can be quite insulting. Guests should either have their meals plated with options or enjoy a true buffet experience, rather than having their choices restricted to a single spoonful of meat or rice, or just a couple of small pieces of longganisa. Mornings are crucial for setting the tone for the day, and starting off on a negative note can spoil the rest of it, even if just for a while. We’ve encountered this frustrating situation two mornings in a row, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Additionally, the staff has been unfriendly, and there seems to be a lack of hotel-quality discipline and finesse. This hotel is only managed by caretaker who has not got a clue. The caretaker is lovely.
