Giljur Guesthouse

This is potentially not a quiet place to stay. The night we stayed the other rooms were taken by families with young children, no doubt because there is a shared kitchen. It was very noisy until about 11pm. The walls are very thin and we had to listen to someone in another room screaming at his children for ages and the children then sobbing. Next morning we were woken up by the people in the room next door using the toilet. The room had a taped up exterior door, a ceiling light hanging off the ceiling and pillows so bad that I had a sore neck the next day. No breakfast is provided. Super expensive for what it was.

Our room was nice and clean and just as described. The shared space as well as the bathrooms were very nice. The only issue we had was we had limited email ability on our trip and we were supposed to receive an email with checkin information 24 hours in advance of our stay. The night before our reservation we still had not received an email and contacted ********** which is not easy when you are out of the country. We finally did receive our email from Giljur house at 9:33am the day were were to arrive with check in starting at 4pm. This was very stressful as we had not received the email and this hotel has no front desk to check you in. It would be very helpful if you sent the email out 24 hours before arrival as your site states.

Beautiful location.

Apart from the drip coffeemaker which had not been cleaned for awhile the property was overall very clean. The room was basic but the location being 9km from the black sand beach more than makes up for it. We missed the small sign for the building when we entered but fortunately a neighbour was able to set us right. Very quiet.
