This hotel was a highlight of our recent visit to Galicia. The photos online seemed perhaps too good to be true, but happily, this place is every bit as good as it looks. It's one of two places in our experience where my wife has said ”Can we afford this?” as we arrived. My best guess about it being truly affordable is that Villagarcia de Arosa is a bit off the beaten path. This is good news for travelers - our room was comfortable, the breakfast buffet was one of the best we encountered, and our dining experiences in the bar were delightful. The only glitch I encountered was, being a massive stone building, that wifi tended not to extend into the rooms. The upside was that when I needed a better connection, I ended up spending more time in the magnificent common areas than I typically do in hotels. Between the gardens/grounds and multiple grand rooms extending off the lobby, this was one of the most enjoyable hotels to explore that I've ever visited.

Not bad hotel for such a small town. Stayed at the 4star as we were upgraded. Great price. Room was nice although bathroom really dated. Very clean. Coffee machine available but you had to pay €1.90 per capsule. Should be included. Didn’t have the breakfast. Very nice staff. Comfy beds. Reception area not particularly appealing but not important. All in all a good choice.

Pluses We stayed a wonderful four weeks in this lovely hotel from late July to late August 2022 , using it as a home base for extensive travel around western Galicia. Staff were very responsive and helpful. No request was too much trouble for them. Excellent estuary views on the side facing the ria and partial estuary views on side facing car park. Good, varied breakfast available. Attractive bar with light meals inside facing car park at back of hotel. Main restaurant and Bistro face the ria. Rooms comfortable and pleasant with excellent views from 'internal' glazed balcony with wall-to-wall picture windows. Outdoor pool area facing the ria was well tended with different seating areas. It opens late and closes late by UK standards as it stays light until late in this part of Spain. Bar service available round the pool. Generally, cleaning was good throughout. Staff wore masks. Minus Indoor Spa pool was payment only. I did not use ot as tge weatger was mostly very goid so used tge putdoor pool. It looked pleasant. Was not very big and every time I asked the price at the Spa reception I was told a different answer. It might have been a language problem. I could not see the price prominently displayed but perhaps it was written somewhere in Spanish. Reception had told me to ask at the Spa reception. The dining tables by the pool are for the restaurant menu only at lunchtime. No pool snacks available. However, bar service is available round the pool and there were two or three bar tables with seating next to the ria. Personally, I wore a mask in the breakfast room when not eating. Very few people did so aart from tge staff. I would have liked to see more bottles of alcogel around and disposable gloves to wear at the buffet for handling implements. Everytime I took something from the buffet I popped out to use alcogel or wash my hands before eating. There was no real outdoor area to take breakfast so I opened one of the picture windows a little near me each time to get some fresh air. This contrasted with the situation at the Makedonia Palace Hotel in Thessaloniki where we had stayed recently and where there was a bottle of alcogel on each table and guests had to wear masks and disposable gloves at the buffet.

A group of 13 of us stayed here one night and it was one of my favorite stops along the Camino De Santiago. Just right up the hill outside Padrón. You pass by a beautiful church on the walk up there. The landscape is meticulous and gorgeous. The pool was so refreshing after a long day of waking from Caldas de Reis. Cold water felt very good on our sore feet and bodies. It’s a very quite place, so relaxing and calm. Exactly what our group needed after 7ish days of walking. Carmen (she is the manager I think) was very friendly and accommodating. Brush up on your Spanish because her English is limited, she is so sweet and helpful. There is wine available to purchase and we enjoyed a bottle of white by the pool. Carmen and her team made a delicious dinner. Traditional Paella and vegetarian paella to accommodate some people in our group. The rooms were amazing. We had a cute balcony on the second floor and slept with the doors open. There is air conditioning in the rooms which was delightful when we checked in until the temp outside cooled down. The beds were so soft! Typically European beds are on the firm side but these beds were soft and I slept my best of the whole trip that night. I would go back to Casa Antiga in a heartbeat! Since we arrived and went everything has been unforgettable ,very pleasant ,the staff of the weekend cafeteria the best I have found in my life after many years of hostel and the most similar to when I worked on the Cies Islands ,Super sympathetic and cosy John and Ana , along with the girls of the reception of that afternoon and next day , the spectacular and comfortable room with everything you need , and the most accessible and natural place I have enjoyed , Thank you very much for the service and the great price at these times of the year .We have enjoyed it from the bottom to the back ,Ribeira mola ,I wish the whole year was so good time that everyone could get there.

Our party of 3 adults stayed for 5 nights in July 2023, at the midpoint of a touring holiday of northwest Spain. We stayed half board, in a two-bedroom apartment in the hotel's annex. The word ”annex” may cause some anxiety, but this separate building (which has a lift) shares the same beautiful grounds and is only 2 minutes' walk from the main block. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria/bar on the ground floor of the annex, so guests in the annex feel fully part of the hotel. The apartment, and, indeed, the feel of whole hotel, was spacious and comfortable. Ample parking is available right opposite the annex, and the hotel has two 3-phase 11kW charging stations in the basement (€6 flat rate, which is a bargain, and gave us enough range to reach León). The food was excellent - both the generous breakfast buffet and the dinner, with a choice each evening of two or three alternatives for each course. The staff, who mostly spoke good English and tolerated our terrible Spanish with good grace, were uniformly friendly and helpful. The pool and gardens were delightful. A relatively compact area has been exquisitely landscaped, and never felt crowded while we were there. The hotel is about 500m from the beach, and a small supermarket is available on the campsite about 300m away. The small fishing port of O Grove is 10 minutes' drive away, and worth a visit. Within walking distance is the lookout point of Puna Moreiras, with a scultpture park, and a great place to watch the often spectacular sunsets. A coastal path leads back to the beach, so a pleasant circular walk of about 2-3km is possible. It's hard to think of any constructive criticisms of this friendly but very professionally-run hotel. Here are two: the sunloungers around the pool are heavily contoured and very comfortable in one position only. And the apartment would have benefitted from a comfy chair or two. Overall, an outstanding hotel which we would recommend without reservation.
