I will start off by saying I hate to leave a negative/1star review. I work with customers daily and I understand how important reviews are. I booked my 2 night stay, 2 weeks before arriving at the hotel. After the reservation from Trip.com I called the Hotel to make sure it went through. This time they actually answered the phone and told me everything was good and although I had the card on file I reserved with I could pay cash upon arrival. Fast forward we put the kids in the car and drove from Ohio to Virginia Beach Along the way I attempted to call the so called Hotel 3 times, just kept ringing. Huge red flag but we were still all very excited for our stay. I had my voucher from Trip.com and handed it to my wife, she went to check us in. Here is where the nightmare began. She was informed that there was an issue with my card and our room was sold to somebody else. They claimed they had no way to get ahold of us with the issue before reselling our reservation because they couldn’t find a number. Mind you in reserving they had my cell, email and card number. Anthony I believe his name was showed my wife an empty room but then said he couldn’t give it to us. By this point I came in to see what was going on, when they told me what happened and that I had no reservation for my family I got very upset. Was not belligerent but told them that I had tried to call 3 times that day to make sure everything was ready to go and they refused to answer the phone. His response was they were busy it’s Memorial Day weekend. Yes I understand they are busy but 3 separate times I tried calling, they are in the hospitality business answering phones is kind of standard procedure. I then asked for another supervisor and Anthony said he was the only one in charge and nobody else could help us. It gets better then Anthony said he called another Hotel and got us a room. We asked for the phone number and exactly who to talk to. So at this point my radar is up, we called the other Hotel and talked to a Kevin. Kevin has no idea who we were and never talked to an Anthony at the other Hotel. Was Anthony at Holiday Inn pranking his rival hotel at my family’s expense? Or was he just trying to get us out of his Hotels lobby? I guess we will never know. One thing to be sure is this particular Holiday Inn doesn’t give a rip about their customers and has no problem with putting a family of 4 right out on the curb. Most likely as soon as the card on file had an issue they canceled my reservation and resold it to somebody for much more money. They never attempted to call me or answer my calls because they simply did not want or care to. I take my family on many fun road trips have never ran into anything like this. My family and I will definitely stay clear of this Holiday Inn and Trip.com for now on. Sent from my iPhone

I stayed there many times over the years, but this is the last time. Many other nicer luxury hotels, this holiday in is very outdated. we had to ask for extra linens. fixtures are rusty, carpet is nasty. Family of 4 and no couch and nowhere to sit. Balcony rail is cut loose, made us very nervous from the 5th floor. $15 for a CUP of fruit and a french toast. We had cigarettes landing from upper floor.

The hotel staff were friendly. The room and hotel was clean. The door to our balcony was off track and almost impossible to open. There was a shower but no bathtub which can be hard for a longer trip with a small child.

Loved this property.Staff was really great and accommodating. The theater and inside pool were a plus for rainy days. Views were awesome from the room.

Everything was good, except non of the ice machines were working in the building that we were in. Some of the electrical outlests were pushing back into the wall. Possible of a electrical shock

We have stayed here several times in the past, which is why we chose it. The first night my son went to take a shower, asked why I had put a washcloth on the shower curtain (which I hadn’t). This washcloth was stiff as a board, so it as been there a while. But it happens…then the A/C unit would rattle off and on all night. There were several teams (youth and high school) staying here as well. The pool area (which stated 45 max) was so packed with kids, running everywhere. Again, it happens. The second night, we had no hot water. Went to front desk, engineer was going to reset the boiler, asked to give it 10-15 minutes. Waited an hour. Had the water all the way on cold and it was still hot. Now for the biggest issue. We obviously had read signs about the Shamrock race once arriving in Va Beach. WE WERE NOT TOLD that street closures would effect us leaving. I spoke to the lady at the front desk on Sunday (as did numerous other guests). There was NO mention of this event on the Holiday Inn website nor were we told about it when we checked in. Front desk staff should have informed guests about this event and told people to read the information printed (which the did have but only at the middle two computers). Check out is 11am. Our block wasn’t reopening until possibly 3pm. I guess after complaint enough, they did extend our check out. But that was pretty bad coming from such a nice hotel. And don’t even get me started on the parking…

We thought the staff was outstanding. The property needs work. The towels had a terrible smell. The bathroom was rusting and the wood on the counter was peeling. All of the carpeting looks very dirty. We know some of this is sand, but it does not inspire confidence in the cleanliness of the place.

A surprisingly large room right on the beach with a balcony. A 7/11 just across the street and a good sized fridge that even had a freezer compartment. Covered free parking right across the street. sometimes it's the little things that make you happy.

The hotel is dated, needs sprucing up. One elevator down for our stay, Pool area was dirty. The beds were comfortable and clean. Italian restaurant was closed. Breakfast buffet was fair.

A lot of stuff not working. Ice makers, toilet went down twice, only one elevator working, WiFi was down half the day. Could be a really nice place just need to invest in working infrastructure.
