We were in Gotland during a heatwave and had booked the Best Western Solhem for our second and third nights. When we book, which often happens months in advance, we pay attention to the things we want. In this case it was the air conditioning. Since we had spent the first night in a hotel not far from the Best Western and there was no air conditioning there, we asked the day before we arrived if we would get a room with air conditioning. The answer was a clear YES. When we arrived on the official arrival day, we were suddenly told that there were no rooms with air conditioning available. After we objected - see booking history - a room with air conditioning was found, but for an additional charge of 200 SEK per night. Well, the air conditioning was worth it to us. When we got to the room, we unfortunately discovered that the air conditioning that might have been there didn't work!!! The room itself was good, big, with a small terrace, 2 comfortable beds, a powerful fan (maybe the people there consider that air conditioning?), TV, and a reasonably functional refrigerator. There was no safe, and the shower only provided very little water. Another complaint: A technician would come tomorrow and repair the air conditioning. The result for us was a night with little sleep. The next day we went on a long day trip and reminded reception again about the promised service technician. When we returned we found that nothing had changed. We got the impression that there had been an air conditioning system at some point, but that it had been "shut down", especially since the lobby was not cooled either. Nobody felt able to tell us the truth. Perhaps there are climate protection reasons or something similar. Of course I complained again and at least got the surcharge of 200 SEK per day back. We slept badly the second night in this hotel too. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this Best Western. At least not in July! It should also be mentioned that the staff were always friendly and that the breakfast was also appealing. Everything except salmon was available, there were enough free seats and it was quickly refilled. The parking situation was also a bit problematic. From 5 p.m. onwards it was really difficult to park the car within walking distance of the hotel. On our onward journey we finally had a really good hotel in Stockholm with perfect air conditioning, etc. and were finally able to sleep well again.
