A very nice place. Hosts Richie and Lynn were friendly and helpful. The location is a stone’s throw from Waitomo caves and there are three places to eat within walking distance. It’s quiet and cozy. Netflix on the TV was welcomed on a rainy evening. The breakfast was welcomed as well.

Amazing

Right next to Tomo Bar, the location is very convenient. However, all the rooms are built against the mountain, and you have to take the stairs to your room, and if there are many shopkeepers who will help you with your luggage. The store owner is a very amiable and enthusiastic couple. They will give travel advice and greet everyone warmly. The breakfast is great and makes you feel at home. We will also provide towels for cave rafting. Although Waitomo is small, it has a strong human touch. Next time I come to visit, I will stay longer~ I recommend the meal at the Tomo restaurant next door, it's great!

Excellent stay at the Guest Lodge. Lynn was very friendly and helpful from the start. We hadn't booked any cave experiences, but she recommended and then booked on our behalf. Room was very comfortable, with a nice little outside balcony table. Lots of choice at breakfast and Lynn was on hand to help plan the day and offer any advice or suggestions. Great little lodge to stay at!

This is more of a B&B but it doesn't really matter - it is just a sweet little home that Ralphy and Lynn share with visitors. The room was very comfortable. The hosts very attentive and were more than willing to share their love for this area of New Zealand. Their gardens, attended to by Ralphy, are spectacular. The only complaint is that lugging your luggage up from the parking lot is a chore...

This was a perfect place to stay. Waitomo B&B was homely, surrounded by beautiful gardens & flowers with views out over tumbling green NZ hills from the deck, had birdlife ( I spotted a few Tui birds), and a comfortable, private room & lovely hosts. Richy gave me a great run through of the quaint little town of Waitomo on check in (less than 50 people!) and made me feel very welcome. I even saw him having a beer at the local pub (Tomo Bar & Eatery) later that day & said hi (it really is a small town where the locals all know each other). I was keen to check out the glow worms at night & I saw Lyn who gave me maps & detailed tips on where to go & the best places to see the glow worms on the Ruakuri walk and introduced me to the NZ endemic Weta insect on google and told me I’d likely see a few in the caves (which I did!). We also had a good chat & I told her about my travels & where I was from in Australia. The continental breakfast the next morning was really good though I had to eat fast & head over the the big strawberry to meet my group for the Blackwater Rafting tour that I was in town for. For around $135 for a beautiful room in a garden setting & breakfast this was great value & a memorable travel experience. The town is just so charming & I fell in love!

Very Good

The Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge has a very family focused and friendly feel. The owners are informative and welcoming; breakfast in particular felt like you were sitting down with a family friend. Our room was cozy with a small en suite bathroom. Because of our schedule we did not spend much time, but the gardens and surroundings were lovely. I would suggest getting familiar with the area in advance. At the end of a long day of travelling and arriving in the dark, we did not quite spot the entrance and the parking area (down the hill from the steep driveway) the first time around.

Nice, convenient. Nice couple who ran it. They suggested a night walk from carpark B to see the glowworms, 10minutes down the road, totally free thousands of glowworms. In many aspects better than the caves where we felt that we were herded along a conveyor belt

Lyn was incredibly helpful. I got our rental car stuck in some mud close to their B&B. They helped call a tow-truck to get us our, and helped us get cash to pay for it. Rooms were comfortable, and it was a very nice continental breakfast. They helped turn what could have been a disaster into a very small hiccup, and were incredibly polite and helpful the whole time. Very thankful we stayed here.

It was a very nice woodsy place to be while visiting the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. The room was great and the owners were fantastic. I was able to do my laundry there. Each cottage is separated from the rest and it was a great place.

We had a wonderful time staying here. Our room was small with basic furniture, but very clean and comfortable; atop a hill in a garden setting. Hosts were very accommodating and friendly, with excellent sightseeing tips. We borrowed torches for a glow worm night hike. Info in the room was helpful for dining options in nearby towns. Breakfast is in a communal lounge so you have the opportunity to chat to fellow travellers. Plenty of hot and cold options for breakfast. Conveniently located - but a slightly steep climb to reception.

Our room had lovely views and was clean. The bed was comfortable. There was a large selection for breakfast. Ricky who is one of the owners was very friendly and showed us where everything was in the village and suggested what we could do and where we could eat. It was great value. Highly recommend staying here.

Located in Waitomo Caves, directly across from Huhu Cafe. Very quiet location, Super friendly couple running the establishment - helpful with suggestions of where to eat and what to do. Easy access to all the tours, sites and activities in the area. Basic accommodation. Simple continental breakfast, but varied and sufficient for a good day's start.
