Not as advertised Booked a deluxe apartment with seaview. However, as it turned out the apartment was not an apartment, but a room in a house with a shared livingroom. Seaview was no -existent from the room.

This was the most magical vacation and guesthouse that we have ever stayed at! The facilities are gorgeous and the staff is so sweet and accommodating (and always available) and we LOVED the big and beautiful pool. I think floating around in the water at night with the palm trees swaying above me was the most magical experience I have ever had. The hotel has wonderful gardens and is situated on a beautiful beach! Concerning the bad reviews- the guesthouse is located in a small town in East Africa and costs under $100 a night for an exotic beachfront guesthouse, I really don't understand why people expect the hotel to be a 5 star resort in California (you want that, you need to expect to pay for it). That means that power is going to go off every now and then (they ALWAYS got it to come back reasonably quickly!), the food is going to be African and take a little while because everything is fresh and often made to order and there may be a few bugs (though we never saw ANY! they were always cleaning and we found everything to be exceptionally clean) I have been a social worker in East Africa for 16 years, and I can say the food is going to be a transition for anyone arriving in the country- it isn't hygiene related, it is just going to be rough for some people who are coming into a new continent with different bacteria. Whenever we host teams, even for the teams that choose to ONLY eat at nice guesthouses and snacks that they brought, people will always get sick.

Had to change rooms 3 times as there were issues with ants and a/c not working. Don't go for all inclusive as food isn't great (except breakfast) pizza place onsite good.

Power cuts lasted for a significant amount of time during our stay. Every evening when we returned there was no power. No power also meant no running water. We tried to resolve with management who promised it would be fixed soon every time. It wasn’t fixed. On check out we tried to get a refund for some of our stay due to the serious issues. The manager said he couldn’t do anything and the owner refused to speak to us.

For people who can appreciate the intense experience of nature. True people. Who are not obsessed by they own unsuccessful life. People who can appreciate the harmony and not to look just for reason to create disorder and instigations. Just for people who can be above the petty petty and see the infinite. Just for few who can deserve the benefit of peace of mind.

Most of the staff kept asking us for more money (even clothes and other items) despite our generous tips. We were even subject to credit card fraud for the only time we left our luggages unattended in the room before leaving (during the last breakfast). The buffet is well presented but really poor and they served food from last days. The pool is unfortunately not maintained: It was "cleaned" halfway through our stay. The hotel was empty and the only other couple in the hotel understood that they had to eat outside despite the ALL-IN formula. Last but not least, we celebrate my birthday by paying everything more than a convenient price and we were "invited" to celebrate the director's sons birthday...by giving them money. Except few really rare employees and the director's daughter who was really nice and professional, my husband and I are really disappointed and we will never return to this hotel. We will even send the police for the fraud. It is a joke that the only comment that remains is :"I could see the previous bad news were a result of blacklisting" - please just question yourself!

We were sent to this Resort due to overbooking of the Watamu Jumbo and it was the worst experience of our life. In the 3 days we stayed there were only 2 of us in the whole resort, buffet meals with only rice, potatoes and chicken. €100 was stolen from the safe with a key (clearly there was a duplicate), the Wi-Fi never works, the rooms are not 4* superior and the management/reception did nothing to understand what was wrong and to investigate about the missing money. If you go to Watamu absolutely avoid this Resort We were sent to this Resort due to overbooking of the Watamu Jumbo and it was the worst experience of our life. So . I have not yet been to this hotel but I am leaving in a few days as a couple with my husband, my daughter and her three children on a private trip to Kenya and to do a safari and seaside… I read with amazement the comments from Italian customers supporting photos, I didn't want to talk to my daughter about it.. I asked to change hotels given the content of the comments about this hotel even if it meant paying a difference. After many calls and requests from private travel the only response was... too late you PAID.!!! I have just received my travel documents. We are therefore obliged to see on site. The only response given by private travel was so safe place it's horror (I'm talking about cleanliness cockroaches dilapidated bathroom) call us back and we'll see what we can do... incredible response! In short, I will obviously keep you all informed, count on ME. Marjoram

For our family vacation (and for my 7 year old daughter's first "big" trip) we chose the Sun Palm Beach last November. We arrived early in the morning from Mombasa with a private taxi, the same one that took us back to the airport on the last day. Not a brand new hotel but impressive. Swimming pool, private beach right in front, very well integrated into the environment. Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting the luxury of a European 5 star, I didn't find the small inconveniences disturbing: My daughter's bed wasn't made on the first evening, they fixed it. There was a power outage one evening, they fixed it. At the bar, if they serve you hot white wine, just kindly explain what you need and you can be sure that the next time you will find it (or at least they will avoid the same mistake): we had a bottle kept chilled so that we could calmly drink a glass of wine to the aperitif. However, dinner was already included (and it was the only resort to offer drinks included at dinner, including wine). If you look at how life develops just outside the resort you feel (and rightly so!) privileged. Excellent cuisine! Every day various African and non-African dishes, fish, rice, meat. We met tourists from other hotels (even with very well-known names) who had not been so lucky. Maybe it was the low season, who knows. And a special thank you goes to the super chef, imaginative, very nice and eclectic, who also cured a bump on my toe with papaya. Staff generally very kind and helpful: my daughter, before creating a group of friends (the owner's children, other children of workers who spent time there, another little girl on holiday), had time to become very attached to Antonio, a good guy and entertainer with infinite patience. One evening was dedicated to tradition (food, music and traditional dance of the Giriama tribe). We did numerous excursions/activities: the one-day safari to Tsavo East already booked from Italy (wonderful and everything perfect, but this deserves a separate review), an hour's horseback ride on the beach, visits to the cities. The boat trips, absolutely not to be missed, super well organized and capable of truly taking you into another world (snorkeling in the marine park, dolphins, timed sandbars, mangroves, canoe rides, lobster and much more on the beach, in short , wonderful) we chose to organize them with Peperone, one of the guys from watamu who, having started out as a beach boy, has now managed to set up an agency that works very well. I definitely recommend looking it up! In short, even though we are in a strip of land that at times seems like Italy (language, currency, names of things and people), we are still in Africa. Fascinating land, of a thousand contradictions and cultures. If you are looking for the 5 star “Dubai” level you will be disappointed. But if you open your heart and remember where you are you will see that you will feel like princes. At least to us it is a
