Marriott's Frenchman's Cove

This review is for our stay at Marriott's Frenchman's Cove and the Westin Resort presentation that the MVC staff scheduled for us. The resort was 4 stars but the Westin Resort presentation experience was 1 star at best. Frenchman's Cove-The villa had a beautiful view and was comparable to other MVC 2 bedroom villas. The pool was small but with the beach area there was plenty of space by the water. Our stay was fine but both my husband and I were annoyed that we were repeatedly asked to take our vacation time to attend a 75-minute sales presentation at the neighboring Westin Resort. Westin Resort sales presentation- My husband and I got up early on our last day to attend the 8:15 am presentation, scheduled by the Marriott's Frenchman's Cove staff on the day we left. We were shuttled to the Westing and dropped off. However, when we arrived at the Westin Resort presentation area, we were told that there wasn't enough time for us to attend the presentation, and the $225 credit we were promised when we agreed to the presentation was rescinded. We had to call the shuttle to take us back to Frenchman's Cove. Remember, this presentation time was scheduled by Marriott staff, not by us and the Marriott staff person who scheduled our appointment knew the time we were departing for the airport. In her defense, she was told that scheduling us on that day and time was fine by the Westin. We received no compensation for being inconvenienced by what was a problem on their end. We will be extremely hesitant to agree to another presentation at any site in the future.

The front desk team and outside greeters were attentive to us and welcoming. A special thank you to taxi driver Bronnie, who we met downtown, for being so kind to us and taking us to the beach and around the St. Thomas attractions. Date of stay: May 2024

Wonderful stay and friendly staff.

The staff is welcoming and the views are wonderful. Service to get around by being picked up in the carts was excellent. The units themselves are ok, but getting tired and need updating, which I hear is being done next season. Place is clean. Warning:The on site restaurant is awful. The servers were ok but they have poor quality food and bad preparation. Particularly awful were: steak dinner, Caesar salad. Inedible! And expensive. If you have to eat something, order the nachos. That’s it. Best to avoid this restaurant. I can’t believe Marriott attaches its name to this restaurant.

We stayed at The Frenchman Cove for my birthday 2/11-18/24 .My review is for the St John bldg unit 544 only because i read some other reviewers bldgs/units were older .The unit was spotless, spacious, nicely decorated, and had a fully stocked kitchen with upgraded appliances. The beds were comfortable. The showers had amazing water pressure and the views from every room were absolutely spectacular. Keep in mind everything is imported there & the prices reflect that..The resort's marketplace was ridiculously expensive but again everything is shipped in. There were plenty of seats at the pool & the beach..beach area is a decent size & the grounds were clean as well.

Have been going her for 10 years, always a good experience, booking excursions, pool can get crowded, but Im a beach person, the food is always good, staff always helpful, view is great, close to downtown for shopping, can go by water taxi or land taxi, water is nicer and quicker, the service goes all day to and from downtown St. Thomas - love it! Great yoga classes!

If you are not part of the timeshare culture here you will get a condo in the back building furthest from the pool and beach. which requires 3 separate elevators to make it to the pool and beach. Service was mediocre at best with food service taking an especially long time for simple dishes like a hamburger and fries. Staff was helpful and Friendly but I found this island is lacking charm and warmth as most of the locals are irritated by tourist. Their bad attitude shows when you need anything or go shopping. We took our car on the Ferry to Saint John which had a much better vibe but still not 100% good with tourist. USVL=Attitudes ! I would recommend many other Caribbean locations as opposed to Saint Thomas. Always check trip advisor. This location does NOT carry a 5 star rating.. I wonder why ? You want to be Happy on Vacation, Not Feel like you are a bother to folks.

We checked in and the person behind the counter said she didn't know where the room was located. We had a room number and that's it. We had no idea, where to go. At least if she told us the name of the building it would have helped. Later after we found our room, my husband went back and told the person who checked us in, that she should at least know what building the rooms are located.
