Hotels near Pond Wood, Watford

Lovely hotel but barman tried to charge for 2 free glasses of wine and reception tried to charge for 4 breakfasts when we had only ordered 2. Other than that everything was good.

Lovely staff. Nice and clean throughout. The kitchen is good and the chef takes care to say hello. The front of house staff are polite and helpful. I regularly stay here with work but I would gladly bring my family if I ever wanted to visit Watford. Lol. Great job guys!

Quick booking we arrived at 7pm had to check-in at the reception next door holiday inn very quick and smooth, was confused as its within the hotel itself and opened the doing to a beautiful spacious apartment we bought food from a local restaurant was lovely to eat and use the kitchen with a dishwasher too! The bed was huge but rock hard... the only thing we disliked was the stifling heat absolutely no air and no air conditioning whatsoever! There was a tower fan and a normal fan provided but didn't make any difference whatsoever although it was July it was torrential rain outside English weather so wasn't hot outside I had to have 3 showers and kept having to go outside during the night to get air , didn't have a comfortable sleep whatsoever and tge fans on all night long either side of the bed with the windows open only around a cm because that's as far as they would go, but if there was aircon this would of been my favourite stay ever ,the local shops restaurants and town centre is a 10 min walk away and parking is £8 per night even with a disability badge. Your able to use the facilities in hotel for food and drinks but we used the local restaurants nearby and used the fridge for our own bought alcohol because it was raining outside... staff was above and beyond.

My line manager had booked the room for me as my IHG account wasn’t approved yet by my GM and I was greeted by Zahr if I spelt that right, I do apologise if I’ve spelt that wrong, he was very friendly, he did his job by trying to figure out if I was an employee of holiday inn, which he did his checks and my information had come back correct, I left earlier that night and come back and I was still greeted with a friendly welcome from him. It’s been a pleasure to stay with the holiday inn, my room was cleaned to perfection and I’ve had no issues, Zahr deserves to be employee of the month if that’s a thing here. Stayed at The Manor, Elstree for three nights B and B, booked through Trip.com and paid extra for a “deluxe “ room. We checked in and we’re given a room called Notting Hill on the second floor of the old building. Very “tired” room, especially the bathroom. The extractor fan was very noisy - sounded like a helicopter which we couldn’t turn off. The loo seat was loose and slipped to one side. The cold tap on the basin would not turn off. Floor tiles were cracked and loose. Bath enamel was chipped in several places. NOT DELUXE. The following morning we mentioned the faults to reception who offered us a different room. We were give “Chelsea “ on the same floor. A larger room in better condition but still not really deluxe. Still “tired”. Breakfast was nice with plenty to choose. All cooked nicely and lots of item’s laid out to select also. Very slow service however, we waited 50 minutes after ordering for the cooked items to appear. Unfortunately, on our last evening the wheel chair ramps had been left out on the steps at the hotel entrance. As I walked up, one ramp collapsed causing me to fall heavily and knocked my wife over too. We both suffered injuries which we reported. The steps should have been removed earlier once the wheel chair had left. Please take care if these ramps are there.

The room is clean and hygienic. The facilities are complete. The environment is elegant and quiet. The transportation is convenient. There are bus stops and train stations within a short walk. The service attitude is very good. The boss is very enthusiastic. It's worth a visit.

We attended my sons wedding at the hotel and were very impressed. It is an ideal location for a wedding as the hotel can cater for everything such as good parking, many rooms for guests, and a separate venue for the wedding and reception on the hotel grounds. The staff were all excellent and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are a mix of very accessible modern style and also the quirky charm of the old rooms in the main part of the hotel. All of the rooms were very clean and tidy with all the facilities you’d expect. The breakfast was excellent. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a great wedding venue and also just as place to stay when visiting the area.
