When I arrived, I was taken aback by how oddly mean-spirited the clerk was. He snapped at me for taking too long to produce my ID, and then snapped at me again for signing his document wrong (I wrote my name so that it would be on the document and then stamped it with my legal stamp). He told me that was ”unnecessary” and sounded very irritated about it. I was tired and disoriented after a 36 hour trip, and he was being impatient and rude. I heard him muttering under his breath about how critical my health condition must have been because I was wearing a mask in the lobby. Truth be told, I was worried about having picked up some ailment spending so much time in a crowded train with people coughing, and even more concerned I could pass it on to unassuming passersby. Furthermore, there were still signs on the doors and floor asking that visitors mask. It only seemed proper that I should oblige. Once he handed me the key card, he all but ordered me to haul all my luggage back outside to my car so that I could park in the back lot. This was so that my car would be closer to my room door, apparently, but it would have been an easier walk at that point to just go to my room from the lobby. I was too travel weary to argue against his blatant derision and quietly apologized and followed his instructions. When I drove my car to the back lot, it was indeed closer to my room, but it was not more conveniently located by any stretch as I was only staying one night. Come morning, I checked out and my options were to haul everything from the counter to the back door again, or leave through the front entrance and walk the entire way around the hotel. Initially, I had assumed all tenants were to park in the back, but my car was the only one there! Furthermore, the cleanliness of the place left something to be desired, as there was black mold growing along the seams of the bathtub. The fact that black mold wasn't the worst of my visit and in fact barely bears mentioning at all is not a good look.
