Mount Grace has been on our list of places to visit for sometime. We finally got the opportunity earlier this year and were not disappointed. Check-in went smoothly and the layout of the hotel was well explained. We had booked one of the Executive Suites. Once the formalities were over we followed the golf cart to our parking area, unloaded and onto the golf cart for the rest of our journey to our room. Our suite was excellent with everything you would want, including the plunge pool. We were still exploring our room when we had a call from reception informing us that they had found a problem with the pool and we were to be given a new suite. If that was not service from the first minute I'm not sure what is. So back onto the golf cart and to our new suite. We spent the next few days relaxing by our pool, wandering through the beautiful gardens and pathways. Meeting up with a variety of birdlife and the occasional dassie. Breakfast in the Twist was very good. Picked up your Mimosa on entry then a great selection, from full English to fruit and yoghurt and everything in between, the Danish pastries and pancakes a real treat. If there is one point with the breakfast to be aware of it is the timing, either go early or leave it until a bit later as it can get very busy at times. We also had great meals at both the other restaurants. The Rambling Vine is the more al a carte with some great meals and wine to choose from. The Terrace and Stoep is moe informal but still does some great food. You can sip away on your cocktail and take in some of the views. Staff at both are friendly and service is good. The main bar has a good atmosphere and we spend most night here enjoying our selves. It can get a little noisy if there are a lot of children about, but there are other spaces near by if you do want a quiet drink before or after your meal. Would recommend the Mount Grace if you are looking for a relaxing weekend away.

Most accommodating and genuinely friendly staff. Amazing location and facilities. Great spa with extensive list of treatments. Rooms are huge. Great buffet breakfast, and good a la carte dining options. Best of all is the tranquility of the hotel and surrounds.

Great hotel for a Romantic couples getaway. Excellent customer service, the only issues we had was the tv satellite connection that requires attention in the executive suites! Also the breakfast was incorrectly served even though we specified it on the menu supplied by the restaurant.

From the moment we walked in were greeted with a smile. Friendly staff always willing to help and assist. Good n Beverage staff Mr. Jack outstanding personality he went out of his way to assist us. Highlight of our stay was the Spa. They were just fabulous, friendly staff, great atmosphere, well kept Spa the activities were brilliant. A particular staff member I’d love to say thank you for making our visit so memorable and for recommending the excellent treatments, you were great very warm and extremely cheerful and kind. Thank you Ms. Jeannet you were brilliant. I’ll definitely return again!

This was a tranquil and romantic spot for a night away! We ate at both the Twist and Vine restaurants - Delicious food, We were treated to a very modern room. You are shuttled on golf carts to the various locations on the property. The Mount Grace Spa is probably the best spa we have ever visited. Not only the treatment, but the facilities are world class

What a nice place, A place filled with amazing memories and great service, it's cleaned and ready to receive it's amazing customer. I love the place that gives a sense of security and privacy. The service I received was ended my most amazing.

Saturday was a cold and drizly day to go out, but we did anyway and we did not get disappointed at all. We were welcomed with the greatest smiles and warmth by Tshego and Tiny. The waiters are GEMS. Tshepo and Daniel, wooow these guys sure made us feel at home. Took care of every little thing without us asking for it. They made sure that we are warm at all times even moved tables to where a heater was because they saw how cold we were. They were so attentive in their service. Their service was out of this world. I even mentioned it to them. I was completely blown by these guy's sleak and professional service. I will definitely be back and hopefully to sleep over the next time so that I can spend more time in the spa. Jeanette the Spa Manager, wooooow, such hospitality we received from you. Thank you for taking care of us. All these guys deserve a Bells and a raise, they ROCK

A very costly night with a lot of disappointment . I booked an exclusive suit with a private plunge pool. Prior to my booking I called to confirm if the pool at the suit was a heated pool, the person said yes. I payed and on arrival the first thing my daughter went to is the pool only to find it ice cold. The man who took us to the room immediately informed maintenance to come and switch the heat pump on. After a few hours I went back to the pool and found it still cold. I called reception and told the lady I am very disappointed that the pool is still cold,I payed a lot of money for the suite. She then told me she will inform her manager or supervisor BUT until now now no one has made contact with me. (Very bad) I asked the receptionist if they will allow my daughter to swim in the Spa pool that was heated and she replied no children are allowed in the Spa pool. She then said I should use the main heated pool where everyone is allowed to swim (which by the way is a few degrees under lukewarm) I told the lady why should I inconvenience myself if I payed for what was advertised? I want to say this to Southern Sun/Mount Grace, you promote family get always on your websites, yet when we as a family say to our kids what to expect on arrival (after confirming) and it’s the opposite the disappointment in a child eyes is enough to upset any parents stay over and that’s what you did to me, we travel far to spoil ourselves and then it ends up in tears. “The pool at the suite” was the highlight for my daughter. It’s really not about the money but the service one expects. I will not recommend to book an exclusive suite if you planing to have a romantic getaway to Mount Grace. Lastly I know my review will be answered with “sorry we will attend to this matter” like my daughter always says, sorry doesn’t always take away the disappointment. Regards Louis.

My partner & I are frequent guests and have being visiting Mount Grace for the last 15 years at least two to three times a year. It is our very special breakaway in the country side. Under the Protea Brand and then the Luxury African Pride. We always book the Villa Suites with private splash pool on the deck. I would just like to share my dissatisfaction with the standards of the Hotel and how it has gone down since it’s under the Southern Sun Group. It is absolutely shocking and what a big disappointment. The saddest was that the people around us were complaining just as much on the weekend. On arrival at Reception Friday evening, no greeting us when we walked in, or even a warm welcome as we entered as they usually do. Staff were just sitting behind there desks. We were not even told to take a seat, they will be with us shortly. All the welcome drink glasses were used, no champagne. We had to ask that they replenish the glasses and champagne. When they did eventually, we helped ourselves to a glass. When we got to check in, your credit card machine was off line. We had to wait, they made us feel as if we were doing them a favor by checking in. It was very unwelcome and as if I was not going to pay. They could of let us check-in, and in the interim or during the course of the next day, swipe the card when your machine was on line. They assured me that my special requests on the reservation had been seen to and everything was ready for us in the suite. Upon arrival in the room, No strawberries dipped in white and dark chocolate. It was too much effort for you to get our favorite champagne in. There were even spider webs in the lounge area. Room did not smell fresh at all. Carpets dirty. Hairdryer did not work. No slippers and gown next to the bed with turn down. Sad how the maintenance has not been done on the outside of the villa by the pool. Paint peeling off the walls. No pool towels as requested on the reservation. Service in Rambling Vine not to standard for fine dining. They did not even open your serviette and put it on your lap like they did in the past. Knifes, forks missing from the table setting. Excuse the expression, but nothing better to describe it. Some table clothes in the restaurant looked like they were not even ironed. Not a good impression at all. Breakfast in the mornings at Twist Restaurant, we had to que, we were even told to come back in a few minutes. No tables, this is an absolute shocker. You should be prepared for the amount of guests in your hotel. In the past they opened the Rambling Vine to accommodate breakfast or laid it out on the patio. The service was absolutely pathetic. What service actually. There was no service. Your staff are more worried about the paper work behind the desk in the restaurant than the hotel guests. Tables next to us were still full of used crockery and cutlery. You had to ask three times for Cappuccinos. Then there was no sugar on the tables, knifes short, spoons short, no side pla

On arrival friendly welcome although we have to wait due to payment although we booked months in advanced. Thank you to Lydia for helping for making our dinner table extra special as we were celebrating our friend's 40th birthday. But Primrose our waitress was not friendly at all . Big ups to Paul if Ubuntu was a person he made our stay comfortable and pleasant. TV old with boring channels.

The place needed help with regards to room aircon, old tv and old furniture. The only saving grace was the electric blanket and the hot water. We could hear the neighbours from our room. The food was nice from breakfast to dinner although the floor staff was a disappointment there were seldom greetings, they would avoid clearing the table and mannier times it seemed we were a nuisance, hospitality was zero. The cream of the crop was when we were asked if we were not tired of the food personally it felt like we were being told that we have over stayed our welcome. Although with every dark cloud there is a silver lining. Some of the staff like Paul and Tshepiso were very helpful and knew why they woke up to go to work. This hotel gave me mixed feelings they would take you up and down emotionally. Thanks Sbo

Toom was very clean and we’ll organized. Bed with electric blanket, that was awesome Aircon wasn’t working took 40min for technician to get it working. TV very old and on antena not satellite or streaming, Food was average(wings no go) Overall yard very clean but sogns of neglect. Hiking train not in the same premises, we met some bush worshipers by the Mountain top

My experience at Mount Grace was very disappointing. Just to give a background. During check in the staff was welcoming, professional and friendly. As soon as I had checked in things turned for the worst. I had booked a surprise vacation with hubby. The room I was allocated from entry it was disappointing, the mat had stains from the door step, the room was old staff (aircon could only heat 1m away from it, with a disturbing sound; the mini fridged as advertised was hot no sign of coldness; electric blanket controller not functioning). Called reception several times to report these, spoke to Jacob, Ondela and others yet no one came until we requested to speak to a manager an hour later, they refused to give the manager then finally sent maintenance people. They told ua the fridges are coolers but not fridges (why falsely advertise?) and they said they cant do anything about the aircon that is one of the old rooms. The fridge was changed but for the entire 2 days drinks were still warm inside the fridge. We went for lunch at the restaurant and we were chased out by a lady waiter to go sit outside in the cold when they allowed 2 white families to sit there for their lunch. We were rescued by a guy waiter after telling him of how we were ill treated. He went inside to check where he can place us, true to his word he came and took us to the spa lounge where it was a bit warmer however quiet busy. He introduced Ofentse to us a waiter, we ordered and the food was horrible (chicken wings were off and even tasteless) could only take one bite. Tried to eat because we were paying.R600 went to waste Informed Ofentse of our dissatisfaction. Later we ordered room service and this was the worst food ever, the so called strawberry cheesecake was like an instant pudding which was waiting for some1 just to get rid of, without taste. Couldnt stomach this. Another R450 to waste. We had to sleep with the aircon on cz it couldnt even warm the room in that cold night, with those squeaky sounds the entire night. After paying so much. Our second day we couldnt even go for breakfast because of the exday experience with food there. We were hungry and didnt want to take further chances. Later that day we took a walk and ended up by the restaurant, we were assisted by the lady Shoki, we were just passing by not planning to eat however her friendliness, patience and persistence she managed to convince us to give the food a try for supper, probably after a 30min debate. She actually saved the trip cause we couldnt wait to check out. We poured our heart out to heart about our bad experience. Dinner was edible and nice. We passed by reception and requested a manager, again a supervisor said she will help but we only wanted to compliment the service we received from Shoki. We even told them of our dissatisfactions, only then we were offered an extra blanket and ice by a friendly and professional Paul. Our overalll experience was bad. There is no consistency with staff
