We have stayed several times at this Westin Location and the service has always been professional and hospitable. This stay was no different. My disappointment is with a simple issue, but one which made me decided to switch back to Hilton after 25 years. Our room did not have a floor lamp or desk lamp. I also noticed a large space in the corner, near the window, where apparently there used to be a chair. We asked for a floor lamp and staff were nice enough to give us a better room on a higher floor. However I noticed this room also had a large empty space near the window as well. All the photos on the hotel site show a chair near the window. There is no renovation program in place, so it appears Marriott decided to ditch the chairs. I also had an encounter with an extremely nice man from room service. As I was walking down the hallway, he was attempting to move a roller cart full of food from the service elevator area to the hallway so he could deliver a patron’s order. He was having a difficult time because the wheels on the cart were not rolling properly. I stopped and helped lift the cart into the hallway, so he could make his delivery. I saw that the wheels were not working properly because the user continually had to bang the wheels against the old floors in order to get it into the hallway. The wheels needed replacing, or better yet a new cart is on order. I felt so bad for him. The nickel and diming is ridiculous. I used to be a Platinum with Starwood but have switched over to Hilton because of the clearly downgrade of facilities since the Marriott merger. I feel for the staff, as in each of my staffs they have been absolutely fabulous.
