We have come here for the last 3 years and it never fails to impress us, the rooms are well maintained. We stayed in room 5, we pick this room as it is a cosy room with a beautiful and comfortable bed, bed linen and towels are immaculate and there is tea and coffee facilities that you can sit out on the balcony to drink.

Beautiful place ❤️ central to everything so ideal location. The rooms beautifully decorated. People that run it lovely and helpful. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Few downside esp if u have mobility problems. 1. We couldn't park in the carpark closer to the rooms( no parking at the hotel you have to pay £9/10 per day for parking ), it's a very small carpark, we tried all 4 days we were there. The next carpark is a 20/30min walk depending on mobility, also there are alot of steep steps, I really struggled, going up for me was impossible my partner had to come pick me up for car journeys. If your in a wheelchair it is not possible to get down from the top carpark. 2. We were in the bottom rooms, ground floor. unfortunately you hear everything that's going on in the above rooms 😔 talking, swearing, people walking about, taps, toilet flushing etc we got woken up quite a few times in the middle of the night, at one point had to go out and ask the people above to please stop banging around it sounded like there were moving furniture. If u struggle sleeping get a room on top floor.(This was a big disappointment for me as I struggle to sleep as it is). 3. The courtyard/garden bit isn't private, I have ME/CFS so needed to rest bk in the room. Unfortunately had people just wandering up into the courtyard, few times children tried to open our door, this also included at night, drunk people wondering into the courtyard. It would be best if you could lock the gate at night at least. I would go back again but would definitely book a room on the top floor. Other then the above, the rooms and court yard are magical and well kept and clean. Beds comfy, towels included and shampoo etc.

the shephereds purse is a hidden gem. Tucked away in a alleyway the hotel is a good place to be as its center of the town center. the bed was roomy and comfy and room maybe compact but easily enough room for me. shower was warm and strong. only thing on first night i didnt see blind so struggled with the autolight going off and on and shining into room so once i saw blind once i pulled it down that stoped that. i could hear people going down wooden stair and up them through my ear plugs but overwise i slet relly well

Can not recommend this place enough. Its central just of the little bridge set back in a beautiful little courtyard. Room was small but beautifully decorated. Everything we needed. Very oldie worldy. Our next trip to Whitby will be here if we can get in. Very clean and in the centre of everything.

A lovely little hideaway in the heart of Whitby. The room we had was very small but having said that, it was ok for a two night stay with everything that you need. The shower, although also very small was powerful with loads of instant hot water. The lady we interacted with was lovely which sums up the whole experience. Although small it was just the right price and we can have no complaints. Would we stay again? Definitely.

We didn’t actually see anybody on arrival or during our stay, our key was in the door when we arrived. The room was clean and cosy. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough coffee for the cafetière, or loose leaf tea although there were containers for both. We also ran out of milk on the first day it wasn’t replenished while we were out for the day and didn’t realise until the evening, thankfully a local cafe was open and helped us out. The room wasn’t serviced during our stay, this could just be a misunderstanding on our part as to the type of accommodation we had booked (I was thinking hotel). We did have a lovely stay however and it would not put us off coming again (just with more of our own tea/coffee/toiletries.
