I have been to Wick three times - twice at MacKay’s and once at another hotel. MacKay’s is undoubtedly the better hotel. The hotel has a faded elegance that can be quite charming, and it is certainly a better hotel than Wick deserves with spacious rooms and a great restaurant. However the decor and fittings are a bit old.

Booked a relaxing weekend in wick, with my wife, after searching we found this gem, the first might food was outstanding and the hospitality was the same, we had another night here and decided to go back, again outstanding food, we asked to speak personally to the chef and thank him for food, such a humble gentleman, will definitely be back, if your ever in Wick you'll not be disappointed with the hospitality and the food, will be back 👌

The dining area looked like a cheap tearoom & for the price of the meals & the room rate it wasn’t reflective.

We had a great two night stay, we were upgraded to a super room overlooking the river and were extremely comfortable. The breakfasts were very nicely cooked and the buffet was nice too. We dined on the first night and had excellent Scrabster haddock which was perfectly booked and accompanied with superb chips, tartare sauce and mushy peas.

Room clean and furniture looked brand new but still had old fashioned feel to it. On a junction so quite noisy ,especially as windows old and not double glazed. Evening meal was very nice and breakfast good also . Ok for a nights stay in around that area
