It’s often hard to judge reviews as sometimes people just have it out or have too high expectations. However, considering it’s a 3 star hotel, I would have expected a certain level of standard. This hotel sits in one of biggest tourist locations in Ireland, somewhere which deserves a decent level of service and cleanliness. Glendalough Hotel has gradually declined over the years and nothing seems to be done about it unfortunately. During my stay, the room was smelly, dirty (especially the bathroom and the walls and carpet) There also appears to be an attitude problem amongst staff, and they will never take on board negative feedback. My advice is to stroll up the road by car to glendalough hostel, which is really high standard. They also do private rooms

The manager/owner had zero empathy for our large group when we had mistakenly booked our 3 rooms the wrong night. He insisted he keep all of our money and made sure to treat us like garbage. His personality and treatment of us was appalling. We will not be giving any of our money to them again.

Ideal location for exploring the beautiful setting of Glendalough. Lovely bedroom. Friendly staff. Waitress on duty at breakfast was very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for her. Breakfast didn't have a massive selection but it's a three star hotel after all. Buffet: selection of bread, toast, cereals, hot Irish breakfast food, nice Don Simon orange juice and other juices, natural yoghurt with two choices of tinned fruit. I had low expectations from reading previous reviews but was pleasantly surprised by the lovely little quaint hotel. Lovely modern bar.

Popped in today for a snack and cappuccino. My friend had lemon meringue which was delicious. I ordered a cheese sandwich with tomato and red onion. It was awful 🤮. The cheese was tasteless, the tomato was half a thin slice and one small portion of red onion. Charging €8.95 for such a mean sandwich is ludicrous! Staff need to be retrained to produce tasty sandwiches. Definitely won’t be returning.

Absolutely the worst hotel I've ever stayed..we got to reception and one if the girls was rude to another guest while we were checking in.. very basic room.. hairs in bed. Smell of must all the way to bedroom and in bedroom..very outdated.Went down for a bite to eat approached by a member of staff asked for food and drinks..shes said "sit there".. food was basic.. had a few drinks went to bed..breakfast was a joke.. nothing in trays on the self service..asked for poached eggs chef came out complaining to staff..never got poached eggs. I will never stay in This hotel again and would strongly advise everyone to stay well away.no management to be seen..lack of professionalism. Ride staff...nothing good to say about this hotel considering the beautiful surroundings of glendalough

I led a pilgrimage group of 25 people to the Gledalough Hotel in May. I love this hotel. This was my third stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and all our group's needs were met. John, the manager, was especially helpful. We ate all of our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel, and the food was delicious. The proximity of the hotel to the monastic city is unbeatable. Granted, the hotel is older and could use a systematic refurbishment, but all in all we had a lovely stay. In fact, I'm returning in August.

This is the second time we’ve stayed in this hotel and our second experience was very different to our first a few years ago. The hotel is going down hill unfortunately, it is in need of some major refurbishments. Check in was from 3pm, we arrived at 3:30pm and our room was not ready until after 4pm. We were informed the restaurant is not open and now the bar is the only place for dinner. We went to the bar, stood at the “please wait to be seated sign” for over 10 minutes while staff looked at us and walked on. We eventually sat ourselves and advised the staff we would do so. No one came to take our drink order, my husband waited nearly 25 minutes at the bar to be served. The food was good, but the service terrible. The male staff members were bickering. At one point a poor American man asked the bartender what whiskey they had and the bar tender responded “it’s an Irish pub, so Jameson” and then walked off! They had plenty more than Jameson and the American man looked so stunned at the response. Our room was fine, clean and a big space however our toilet seat had burn marks on it? Not sure what that was about but a bit odd. The one good thing I will say, the blonde woman in the restaurant who seems to be the senior member of staff, she was great, super lovely and apologetic to us after our experience.

Hôtel idéalement placé pour les balades dans le parc et les lacs. Un peu vieillot, personnel accueillant. ...... .........................................................................................................

Unfortunately this wasn’t a good stay for us. Reception was chaotic to say the least. Lack of information about the hotel. The desk was so busy reception couldn’t find anything and seemed stressed. Carpets up and down the stairs were filthy. Definitely in need of TLC. Rooms were okay. Food not the best unfortunately.
