On arrival was greeted by friendly staff and given our room which unfortunately overlooked the court yard which is clearly the place to be for young groups to congregate and make as much noise as possible. The music went on until 1140 pm which was being turned up louder and louder eventually this stopped only for the groups of youths to start shouting and yelling through till 1215 am.Then came the slamming and closing of doors and moving of benches and chairs by the staff. I appreciate it’s a hotel /pub and it can be noisy but no consideration is given to guest staying whatsoever. Overall the hotel is good value for money providing good food and cleanliness just don’t expect to have a good nights sleep staying here.

Decent overnight stay, the family room set up was good, two interconnecting rooms with a shared bathroom. Decent breakfast. Didn't eat in the evening, but the Ale I drank was good. Nice courtyard & back garden. Parking at the back. However, both bars could do with a little sprucing up, especially the back one.

Me and my partner spent a midweek night here on the way to Cornwall. This was a very convenient location, not too far from the A303. The hotel is a nice old building but the rooms were contemporary. We received a warm welcome at reception. We had a decent size comfortable room, the bed was comfortable. A decent amount of toiletries, good fluffy towels and a good selection of teas, coffees, etc. The Wednesday Steak meal deal was fab value 2 steaks and a bottle of wine - the food was delicious and decent size portion. There may not be a lot of dining options in the area unless you drive and based on what we saw I would recommend this place if you are in the area / need a stop off. We had a few drinks in the bar and again found staff to be friendly and efficient. Decent size cooked breakfast too. A very nice stay and good value for money. The staff are very accommodating and helpful.

I attended a get together with friends at The Dolphin Hotel The staff were unfailingly cheerful and always helpful, the menu had varied and interesting choices, and the food was fantastic. There is a lot of free parking both in the Dolpin carpark and in the public car park close by. We will definitely return.

I stayed at The Dolphin in a twin room as I was attending a friend's birthday party which was also hosted at the hotel. After a warm welcome in the bar and at reception, I found a clean comfortable, bright airy room, pleasantly decorated, overlooking the main street which was surprisingly quiet throughout my stay. Supplied with a decent amount of toiletries, and fluffy good sized towels a selection of branded, teas, coffees, hot chocolates, and choc-chip cookies, a welcome treat after a long journey. The party was hosted across a quaint cobbled courtyard which boasted a large screen showing the rugby six nations match for patrons who wanted to watch the game. The party was catered for by the hotel who tempted guests with an Indian buffet, delicious, with a vegan option. Afterwards platters of dainty sweet treats and a constant supply of coffee, a selection of teas and jugs of water for the designated drivers. There was a well stocked bar exclusive to party guests, staff kept the food and drink well stocked whilst providing an efficient, unobtrusive service throughout the evening. After the celebrations I enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep. In the morning a choice of breakfasts, included in the price, was on offer. A kitchenette just off the dining room allowed guests to help themselves to teas, coffees and juices, as well as toast, whilst waiting for our freshly cooked breakfasts to be bought to our table. My full English was cooked to perfection, fresh produce, crispy bacon and not at all greasy. Good portion sizes without being overfacing. Again a vegan option was made available to guests, alongside, porridge and continental options on the menu. A really pleasant stay, with staff providing a relaxed friendly atmosphere throughout my stay. Great value for money

We had the carvery, the beef was well cooked but small portion, uninspiring selection of vegetables, the sprouts were not edible, needed another 10 mins in the pan, the rest of the meal was ok, the service was good, had eaten in The Dolphin before, this time the meal did not impress.
