What a fabulous hotel set on the edge of Lake Windermere. Fabulous Xmas trees on the drive as we arrived got us in the festive spirit. A lovely welcome at reception before being led to the lounge where we had champagne whilst looking out at the stunning views across the lake. Our bags were taken up to our Pulwood Bay suite where the views were simply breathtaking. Nothing was too much trouble for the amazing, friendly staff. We sent a couple of hours in the cinema room with complimentary snacks watching Elf. Very nice. Hotel is pure luxury and the food outstanding. Have to say the poached eggs were best I've ever tasted. Alex was very knowledgeable & helpful with the menu at dinner & I thoroughly enjoyed the halibut. Ordered from the cheese menu which was plentiful & had a glass of port each. Hope to visit again in the spring.

A relaxing 3 night stay in a Windermere room gives excellent views worth the upgrade. A lovely big room with superb bathroom, a sofa and coffee table is a nice addition to the room. I would prefer a choice of pillow as ones provided were a little too firm. Lovely "stately home" feel to this hotel, lovely grounds to walk in and on the waters edge of Lake Windermere. Excellent breakfast served by superb staff, cheery and helpful. Didn't have dinner here as cost seemed a bit excessive. Plenty of parking.

This is a beautiful hotel .. right on the banks of the lake .. we visited the first week of January and had a lovely stay . The onsite restaurant and bar serve great food .. a special mention for the sticky toffee soufflé .. a spin on the traditional Lake District pudding , and absolutely phenomenal! Our lake view room was large , clean and well appointed.. the staff , all of them , were amazing .. so friendly .. we were knocked out by how welcoming everyone was , it really made the stay perfect .. Jake in the bar was courteous , entertaining and very professional , helping guests see planets and stars from the window as it was a clear night .. for such a nice place, it was very unpretentious.. If you need a point of reference , it reminded us of the Fife Arms .. big enough to be able to find a quiet corner yet small enough to feel like a posh family owned hotel .. beautiful furnishings and roaring log fires .. a very nice place to be .. highly recommended

We stayed for the three day Christmas package. The view on arrival was stunning and the welcome by all staff very warm. It made the ideal start to Christmas. Our room was lovely with a view of the lake (24). The hotel were very accommodating for my wife, providing a pescatarian alternative to meat including a stunning salmon en croute on Boxing Day evening. We were seated in the new extension for meals which was without Xmas decoration so was a little lacking in atmosphere so hopefully our comments will be taken on board for next year. It might also be fairer to rotate the seating arrangements rather than have a fixed table. Minor points. All staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble, we also met some lovely people. There was some entertainment laid on but it was unobtrusive and you could basically join in or not, as you wished. All told we had an excellent Christmas and the hotel and location really are stunning

We came for the 3 night Christmas package. You can read on their website what’s on offer. Suffice to say it’s one of the best lakeside locations on earth. IMHO joint best with Lake Louise in Canada. Recently refurbished to a very high quality. The staff, while not obtrusive, work very hard to ensure your stay is perfect. And it absolutely was! The view from the room was incredible. The state of the grounds perfect. Every thing works. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone.

Festive afternoon tea wasn’t as expected, the photos on the website were a misrepresentation, therefore we were disappointed. No response from the hotel to the two emails I sent. This was a Christmas treat from my daughter and we booked purely because the photos on the website looked very festive and unlike anywhere else.

Our festive afternoon tea was absolutely delicious! All the staff were polite, especially Jungian, who was extremely attentive and passionate. Nothing was too much trouble as she took the time to give a mouth-watering description about the festive treats she served. It is a wonderful hotel in a stunning setting!
