Guests appreciated the comfortable, spacious rooms, and cozy beds. They praised the delicious breakfast and value for money. The exceptionally warm staff and clean, well-decorated rooms were also highlighted.

5 star food, 4 star comfort. This hotel is housed in a beautiful, centuries old building with remarkable charm; you'll feel transported to medieval England in a very good way. However, the age of the building does come with some negatives; the stairs to my room (2) were quite steep, and the room itself was just big enough to house the king size bed within it. Additionally, the walls are quite thin, so you'll hear activity from the restaurant below until about 11pm, and potentially later from adjacent rooms (I could clearly hear my neighbour snoring!). None of this was an issue for me, as I sleep late and heavy, but I imagine it could be serious for some. What made the trip worth it however was the food; oh the food! I travel for work and pleasure easily 50+ times a year, and I can honestly say that it's difficult to remember a time I've had better food than this. The chef(s) offer a perfect combination of rustic Britishness with European refinement, and powerful flavours to bring it all home. Honestly, even if the rest of my stay had been a 3 star experience, I would've returned again just 5o experience their culinary delights once more. To briefly summarise; I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough to food lovers, but advise caution for light sleepers (though they do provide complimentary earplugs).
