Clea, comfortable room in town, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Daily room service is still in practice here, which seems rarer and rarer these days. View of the river off the balcony was relaxing, bed was comfortable, room was spacious. This was my first visit to Winthrop and I would stay here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights while we visited the Cascades NP. Clean and comfortable with the usual amenities. Loved the charm of Winthrop. A view from our balcony of the river was an unexpected delight and we saw a deer and her fawn on the island while we were there. Our first full day coincided with a Saturday and it was pretty busy with visitors but the next day we were able to browse the shops in comfort. Limited number of places to eat on foot - but we would stay again.

A must stay in Winthrop. We had our window and slider open every night listening to the relaxing water after 2 hard days of hiking. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is walking distance to everything you need -eating, shopping or just walking the town trails.

We stayed at Rio Vista in early June. The room was spacious, very clean and well stocked. The balcony overlooking the river's was really nice, and the chairs down below, next to the water were fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to town and the museum across the street was really beyond expectations. We enjoyed the first night so much we booked another night. We would definately return.

Stopped on a whim because they had a vacancy sign out and I could see it was on the river. So happy I didn't hustle on to the next town. Was greeted warmly and they found me a room: bigger than I needed but that's usual. I ate my dinner (packed yesterday) on the porch watching canvasback ducks with their ducklings on the river. During breakfast next morning there were deer. Listened to the river all night long. Wonderful bed. Everything was clean. Decent shower. In the morning, I took a quick bike ride to the fish hatchery before continuing my drive. Very pleasant front desk staff.

This is our third year staying here for the Hot Air Balloon Festival. And it will be our last. As each year goes by, the place seems more run down. Our room smelled like B.O. when we arrived. The bathroom is as stark as stark can be….the sink is in the main room by the way. Like most hotels, they raise the price for special events….I still can’t believe we paid almost $500 for two nights there. Next year we will probably try Sun Mountain Lodge….it may cost a little more, but it is so much nicer…..

I love the river view from all of the rooms and the convenient hot tub. It was odd not having a sink or an electrical outlet in the bathroom. It was awkward to have to wash my hands, brush my teeth, etc., in the main room with my traveling companions there. There also was no table for us to sit and eat the food that we had brought with us.
