The hotel is located halfway up the mountain. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, facing the sea, and the scenery is beautiful. One hotel has two meals, and the breakfast buffet has a wide variety. The dinner is exquisite and delicious, and the service is warm and attentive. It is a perfect hotel for relaxing after climbing the mountain. It is highly recommended.

I booked a western-style twin room with an old decoration, but it basically meets my needs. The hotel is close to the port and provides free round-trip transfers from the airport. You can also rent mountaineering equipment at the hotel. The staff is very polite and enthusiastic. Overall, this hotel is a very good choice for tourists who want to save trouble.

I stayed I here in May 2024. The hotel is clean, comfortable with great breakfast (Japanese and Western). They have a public bath to soak my weary body after doing the Jomon Sugi hike. I was able to buy my bus ticket for Jomon Sugi bus. Since I was going to miss breakfast for the hike they provided bento box breakfast and I paid for lunch bento boxes. The hotel also has a Kaiseki dinner available but must be reserved no later than 8pm the previous night. There are plenty of nice restaurants around and I had a rental car so did not eat the dinner. I got my reservation thru Y.E.S. Yakushima so very easy to make hotel reservations!

It’s pretty inside, but rather empty. I’m upset because they turn off air conditioning in all rooms from 10 am to 3 pm. I am sick and unable to go out. I need to lie down, but I’m forced to wait, coughing, in the lobby cafe, until 3 pm when I can return to my room. The front desk tried to banish me to two employee rooms. Disgraceful. The AC is centrally managed, so presumably they simply cannot turn on the AC in my room. The small gift shop is not open during the day either, so there is nothing to do here. The ocean nearby is a rocky cliff, plus it is steaming hot outside in August. If you are not sick, you can go out exploring all day and come back to AC in your room. However, if you are exhausted with time zone issues, sick and coughing, they do not accommodate you here. It could be worse. The lobby cafe is comfortable enough, but I am bored. The gift shop, when it opens, has no earrings or valid souvenirs for sale—just a bunch of dead fish items. Their onsen is co-ed and naked. Last night’s dinner in the restaurant was a vegetarian laugh of boiled lettuce. Breakfast was better. The cafe offers very little bariety of food. If you are vegan, you are out of luck. Pizza is gross with too much cheese with onions inside.

A really unique property in a lovely and convenient location, used to dealing with hikers and international guests. Great bath, good breakfast buffet, and pleasant staff who are all eager to help you have a great experience on Yakushima, no matter what you plan to do! I hope I get a chance to go back someday.

We stayed in the new wing, which is more expensive but definitely worth it. The rooms are huge, with large ocean- facing windows ( you can even sit in the bath and look at the sea) and a balcony. The staff are lovely and speak excellent English. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. There is a large public bath and a well- stocked souvenir shop. Very convenient for the ferry.

Although it was during the busy New Year period, the service and price were well balanced and I was very satisfied with my stay. Thank you very much.

It has now changed its name to 'THE HOTEL YAKUSHIMA OCEAN & FOREST'. There is a new building on the premises, a higher-class villa called Namiotobiyori. As we were planning to take part in the Jomon Cedar tour, we stayed in the main building for the night before and Namiotobiyori for the night after. We chose the main building overlooking the mountain as the view was optional, but it was therefore reasonably priced. Namiotobiyori was a wonderful room with the ocean stretching out in front of us. After our exhausted bodies from the Jomon Cedar tour, soaking in the bathtub while looking out at the ocean was the perfect way to relax. There was a big difference between the nights before and after, but it was a good thing that it was well balanced.

I stayed here for one night for business. There was a large public bath, the parking lot was free and easy to park in, and the breakfast was delicious, so I was generally satisfied, but the price of about 15,000 yen for the old main building on the mountain side is a bit low for value.

The room was clean. Unlike the nearby guesthouses, it's a hotel, so it's okay to check in late, which is nice. There are also several restaurants within a 10-minute drive or walk that are open until late at night, so it's convenient. Also, breakfast was originally included, but since we were leaving before dawn to see the Jomon Cedar, we asked them to change the breakfast to a bento box and paid an additional fee to have a lunch box included. Well, you can get to the Arakawa trailhead to see the Jomon Cedar from this hotel, but if you want to go to the Yakushima Nature Museum or the Arakawa trailhead, it should be closer to stay at a hotel or inn around Awa Port. Just for your reference.

Prices are first class, service is third class. I've stayed at many different hotels, but this was the worst ever. Although the website states that the hotel has a panoramic view of the ocean, the ocean cannot be seen at all from the room we were given. The room type should also be listed as a mountain-side room with no view of the ocean, rather than a choice of view. A view comparable to that of a rural guesthouse. I thought I would be able to see a spectacular view of the ocean while eating dinner, but the dining room was actually a banquet hall-like room surrounded by walls on all sides. What you can see from the bath is a wall. Not even a hot spring. You can barely see a glimpse of the ocean from the breakfast area. I thought that HP was a fraudulent advertisement that was misleading. Also, the hospitality is the worst. I spent 80,000 yen at a hotel like this for two nights, but they only provided bottled water on the first day. The amenities were eco-friendly, so they weren't replenished, and when I asked for toothpaste, they didn't want to be refilled. Each of the employees who served the meals was very nice, but the manager who was in charge of all of them was the worst customer and made fun of the individual customers. Also, I had to bring my towel from the room to the public bath, but there was no bag to put it in, and despite the price, there was no lotion installed. They are trying hard to become a high-class hotel, but they have forgotten how to provide service from the customer's perspective. No sense of hospitality. I will never stay there again. I'm sure there are better guesthouses and hotels on Yakushima.

I stayed for two nights. It was a nice hotel. There were many foreign staff, but they all worked hard and patiently, which I appreciated. They spoke very good Japanese.
