Jomon No Yado Manten

It was my first time to go abroad alone, and I went to Yakushima to participate in nature experience activities and a self-guided travel itinerary. I stayed at this hotel twice during this trip: the first time I booked accommodation on the platform; the second time I stayed here temporarily due to an unexpected situation with another hotel I booked. For a foreign traveler who doesn't understand the language and is going abroad for the first time, he feels the friendliness and kindness of the service staff here. In particular, the service staff at the counter and restaurant were very patient and waited for me to use translation software to communicate, which made me feel a lot of warmth. The hotel is very close to the airport, less than 5 minutes' walk away. The environment inside the museum is very comfortable and well-equipped. The lobby, rooms, soup pools, and restaurants are all clean and tidy, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Meals need to be purchased separately, and suitable private rooms will be provided according to the number of travelers during the meal. Dinner is a 10-course kaiseki meal, and breakfast is a 6-course side dish plus a buffet (I haven’t ordered lunch, so I don’t know). Most of the meals were very delicious, except for a few that were a bit salty for my taste. In particular, some local ingredients and seasonings will be used, which will make people feel more connected to this place. In terms of cost, the price is on the high side for people who are used to staying in backpacker hostels. At the same time, after moving in, I feel that the overall environment and services are well worth the price. For travelers who want to travel quietly, relax and slowly, if the finances allow it, I highly recommend this hotel!

There is a rental car right next door, just a minute's walk from the airport. The hot spring was spacious and clean, with an open-air bath. The food was not fancy, but had a gentle taste, and the fresh sashimi and seafood were excellent. The meat was also delicious, with a different taste from that on the mainland. I asked them to prepare a lunch box, and I was glad that I could choose from two types. And above all, the staff was kind. When I realized I had forgotten to buy a souvenir after returning home and contacted them, they sent it to me for just the product price and the minimum shipping fee.

Our accommodation for the first half of our Yakushima tour was Jomon no Yado Manten, located just a one-minute walk from the airport. We arrived on an evening flight, so the location right next to the airport was a welcome find. Our room was a twin room, located at the very back of the building. It was a very average-feeling twin room. What was great about this inn was the hot springs and the restaurants. Yakushima is known for mountain climbing and trekking, so it was nice to be able to come back to the inn tired and soak in the large hot springs. All the restaurants had private rooms. We stayed for two nights, and the dinner menu was different, yet the food made use of ingredients from Kagoshima and Yakushima. On the first day, we had "fried flying fish" and we could even eat the distinctive wings. Compared to the price, I wouldn't say it was high value for money, but I guess it's reasonable for Yakushima prices.

After three flights from my home in Hokkaido, I arrived at Yakushima Airport at 5pm. The first day of my trip was mostly just travel. The first lodging I chose on Yakushima was Jomon no Yado Manten. It's located just a one-minute walk from Yakushima Airport, so it was perfectly located for our itinerary. We had a plan that included two meals, so we were able to relax in the hot springs and enjoy a delicious meal. The food had a Yakushima feel, and on the first day we were served a dish similar to fried flying fish, which really brought home how delicious it is. I stayed at this lodging for two nights, and almost all of the food was different between the first and second days. It seems that many people use it as a base for sightseeing in Yakushima for several nights. This lodging is fully capable of accommodating multiple nights.

You can rest well whether you stay overnight or just use the hot springs for a day trip. There is a Cosmos nearby now, so you can buy some beer and stay overnight. The food is also delicious, so I recommend using it when you plan your trip. Also, all the accommodations on Yakushima are hectic in the morning, so earplugs are a must. I stayed on the first floor, but was woken up by a noise on the second floor in the morning. I recommend you to spend the time with a feeling of mutual understanding, thinking, "Oh, that was me yesterday too."
