This year I chose to come to Yancheng for the Chinese New Year and stayed at the InterContinental Yancheng Gangfu Hotel. My 2nd time in Dongtai, 1st time in Leida hotel. It looked good on the website.
1st impressions were good. Even though the staff spoke very limited English they checked me in efficiently (I do speak some Chinese but if you don't it's okay). The rooms are a good size and the big picture windows give great views over the public lake/park. the only downside was the faint aroma of stale cigarette smoke in the room but this is China and unfortunately to be expected.
The downside was the breakfast was very Chinese and though I love the cuisine here I'm not a lover of Chinese breakfast. It would have been better if the cook knew how to make fried eggs in different styles than just solid yokes and they invested in a good coffee machine. The coffee was in a flask....and was white....I didn't even try the bit I poured into a cup. The positive is Wuyue Plaza is a 10 minute stroll and has a Starbucks and MacDonalds!
I had a look at the gym and pool. Gym was 10 yuan, pool was 40. Both looked okay. The hotel grounds needed a bit of a tidy up but were okay. I couldn't find direct access into the lake/park area but then I was only there 2 nights.
The big convenience was Wuyue Plaza. The top floor was restaurants. A decent selection. Towards the back on the outside walking street was a decent little bar (Black Vine). Nice manager, 8 craft beer taps, lots of bottled beer.
Yes, I'd stay here again as it suited my purpose.

GG91We stayed at the hotel as a family. The check-in process was easy and
quick. Being able to check in at 9 a.m. was also great. The staff members were helpful and friendly. The room was nice and spacious.
The view is absolutely beautiful, and the area where the hotel is situated was very quiet and relaxing over the May holidays. Breakfast was lovely; there were Chinese and western food options.
Just a suggestion: with the floors of the room being dusty, it would be great if the hotel had basic cleaning equipment, especially for longer stays (I do not feel comfortable contacting the staff to clean the room, especially with the language barrier, so it would just be easy to do it myself quickly).
It would also be great if a microwave, plates, cutlery, and serving utensils could be included in rooms, especially for longer stays and for parents with children. Having rooms with a play area would also be awesome, and I would definitely pay more if the above were included.
There is also room service available from the cafe on the first floor, where drinks and sandwiches can be delivered to your room, or you can enjoy it downstairs with a great book from the library.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

BBYW502A quasi-five-star hotel that is average to the standard. The room is clean and spacious, the toilet is reasonably arranged, and the shower water temperature and speed are satisfactory. Generally speaking, the hardware is OK, but the service is really a bit disappointing. It's sometimes good and sometimes bad. There was a little episode when checking in, and then our reservation seemed to include a museum tour. No one at the front desk mentioned it and we didn't care. The welcome fruit was one serving per day, which was a little surprise. Although you don't necessarily eat it, it makes people feel that the attitude is OK. It depends on luck to answer the phone at the front desk. Some are enthusiastic and some are stiff. The cleaning auntie who goes out every day gives people a friendly and polite impression. Although there are not many varieties of breakfast, it is replenished quickly and tastes OK. I like their small wontons more than fish soup noodles. The swimming pool is less crowded and clean, and the reception at the door is comfortable. To be honest, if it weren't for the service at the front desk that made me happy and unhappy for a while, I would definitely regard this place as my first choice for homestay and recommend it to relatives and friends in the future, but now I want to try the five-star hotel opposite to see if the hardware and software are better than yours.

After check-in, villagers will be led to the home. The first one, because there is no independent twin room in the house, I wanted to check out, but the front desk asked the villager to bring the ”two trees” homestay.
In fact, at the beginning, I refused to live in someone else's house. I always felt inconvenient, but I thought of going there, so let's experience it.

Say or cancel it for me, so come all the way to vacation, you play with me...! Later, I had to add money to change the parent-child room. I didn’t expect the bathroom sink to leak all over the place. I said that I changed the room the next day. The front desk said that I didn’t know that we continued to live because I didn’t hand over the work. I waited for a long time to clean and no one returned. It took half an hour to send a WeChat to send water. Auntie went to eat, I really took it, you said it, it won't make me wait for a long time! The hotel has a consumer movie bar in the evening. The first night we ordered a drink and watched a movie at nearly 11 o'clock. The next night, we were driven away and said that we were snoring at 9 o'clock! The sewer on the first floor tastes heavy. The purifier is working 24 hours a day. Some rooms taste great and can't live. There is one thing to say. The hotel breakfast is still very good. The big meat buns are delicious. However, the small transportation cannot reach the main entrance of the hotel at present. Therefore, if you go out with a lot of things, it is recommended to bring your own suitcase or backpack. . The whole scenic area is in the style of the ancient town, so the hotel is antique. The public area of the hotel is very beautiful, and the interior of the room is also of the same style. The overall tone is warm wood color & white & water blue, giving people a very comfortable feeling. The hotel's sound insulation is OK, and the overall is very quiet. It is especially friendly to people who sleep lightly like me. Hotel service is also very good, the waiter speaks softly. I especially like the hotel cafeteria. The front desk is a very good lady. The restaurant is not big but has a wide range of varieties. There is actually thirteen fragrant crayfish for dinner. The most important thing is that all the dishes taste good, which is unexpected. The room I stayed in this time is basically the same as the publicity photo. There are two rooms and one living room, which is especially suitable for family travel. The living room is actually very large, and then there are two separate rooms, one for the first and one for each with a bathroom. Overall, I am very satisfied.
There is a small bridge and flowing water when you go out of the hotel. There is also a cruise ship dock. The hotel lobby screen and the waiter have the activity schedule of the entire scenic spot that day.
