This is the first time I have seen all-you-can-drink beer, tea and other drinks in a hotel! The world plaza in the hotel provides a good space to chat and enjoy Kyoto snacks. The boss was very nice and took the initiative to help us carry our luggage. He also thoughtfully provided us with information about Kyoto’s various special cultures and the customs and customs of Kyoto! On April 28, 2024, I stayed at Kyoto Universal Hotel Karasuma to participate in the Kyoto May Day event held at Umekoji Park Lawn Square. The hotel is located south of Kujo Subway Station. To get to Umekoji Park, take city bus number 208 from Oishibashi without changing buses. The room rates have increased because it is the first Saturday of Golden Week, but I made the reservation two months in advance in anticipation of this. The usually free dinner and breakfast were 720 yen and 570 yen, respectively. I had dinner at the nearby Indian restaurant ”Dana Pani En.” The front desk was able to handle three check-ins. The service was not bad. The large public bath has not yet reopened under the pretext of infection prevention, but I think it is actually for cost-saving purposes. The rooms on the third floor have sofas and are not small. Be careful of the steps in the bathroom. BS cannot be viewed.

The water in the bathroom is very weak and bathing takes a long time, which is very unpleasant. However, there is a bus stop near this hotel. It is very convenient to go to the JR station. The streets nearby are also quiet. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants. There is only a Royal Host Western restaurant. The service is very good and the food is delicious.

I and my mother stayed there for one night 20000 yen per person, with dinner and breakfast. It was a very comfortable stay. This was more like a hotel, except that we needed to walk around without your own shoes (without getting dirty feet) inside. It was fully booked on that day. We had an earlier check-in, which mean that we could enjoy our relaxing private Onsen bath without standing in line. We also tried the large onsen baths later in the evening after a long walk in the beautiful Arashiyama area nearby. It was hot, but great. One of the baths was outside in a Japanese garden. We got warmed up from the inside out, and had an ice popsicle before we went up to our room for good nights rest. We also enjoyed a huge dinner and breakfast, true local cuisine with typical taste in Kyoto that supposed to be refined and ”delicate” - you shouldn´t expect any strong taste, and correctly cooked. This supposed to be a 3-star-hotel, but the amenity was completed. We didn´t miss anything here. We thought the staff at the front desk were not amazing, but definitely not poor. We didn´t need to deal with them so much as we had good information in written form. Everything was clean and pleasant. Had absolutely nothing to complain. We would definitely love to come back again. My rating is 4 - not more or less. I certainly see that they still have a room for improvement, but overall I didn´t personally understand all the poor reviews.

It is good that there is an open-air bath, the room is large, and the view outside is good from the large window. However, the amount is high. Even in this time of Corona, it's a bit unthinkable to spend close to 10,000 yen. However, staying in such a room is quite relaxing and feels good. It's great that you can come right after getting off Kishibe Station without getting wet in the rain. It is also good that there is a convenience store in the hotel building. I thought the convenience store was on the first floor, but it was actually on the second floor. If you walk down the passage from the station without going down to the ground, there is a convenience store and there is an elevator next to it, which will take you to the front desk of the hotel. The only problem is the table. The table where you put your PC and work is small. I can't work indoors. Although it is a PR point that there is an open-air bath on the roof, you can not see the outside scenery. All the outside is covered with walls, and you can only see the sky. It's nice to take a bath outside, but it's a pity that you can't see outside.
