On our arrival we were greeted by a doorman (didn’t get his name, but he is easily recognisable by everyone due to his impressive physic) who was brilliant, smiley and made us feel welcomed. Reception staff, on the other hand were rather withdrawn and cold. Unfortunately, that set the mood. Room: At the first glance looked amazing. Then, I opened the wardrobe, there were only 5 hangers, two drawers and one shelf. Clearly it is not enough space for a 10 day stay. One of the coffee cups was dirty, the curtain wasn’t fixed properly, which resulted in trouble to close the balcony door. Maintenance took a look and said he needed a ladder; we never saw him again. No one bothered to enquire with us if our issues had been sorted. The coffee cup wasn’t replaced, but instead I was given a teacup with stains on the inside from black tea. Not a good first impression! On the positive side hotel is new, clean, beautiful, with stunning view from all sides, wonderful beach and with 4 very good a-la cart restaurants. We highly recommend the Asian restaurant! Lebanese and Greek restaurants indulged us with abundance of food, that we struggled to finish, and the tomato soup in Italian restaurant is simply the best. Overall, the service in the hotel lacked consistency which is reflected in the rating we have given. For example: in the buffet one day you are greeted and seated, another day not; one morning you offered coffee, another morning not; no one explains to you that buffet serves the same food from both ends of the counter which means the food on offer is fairly limited; and that the drinks are self-service. I mean, everything is self-service. At previous hotel stays, drinks are ordered and served via the waiters. I like to be served by a waiter, to interact with them, to build relationships, because it gives stronger, more positive impression that goes into your long-term memory. If we wanted to self-cater, we would rent a villa. The drinks at the bar are of a reasonable quality, but again, not consistent. Sometimes, drinks have been served in a hot glasses that have just been cleaned, which unfortunately resulted in an accident. On our last night we had drinks in the Ariadne Lounge bar after dinner with another couple we got to know, and one of the glasses was so hot that the ice created a reaction, and when it was lifted from the table the bottom of the glass fell off and the entire content of the glass poured on the lady’s dress. And although hotel staff reacted quickly, and the laundry service was offered, it didn’t eliminate the cause of the accident which shouldn’t have happened. I have noticed that the tables are not being cleaned by staff quick enough to wash the glasses on time, therefore there is not enough time to let them to cool down before reusing them for service again. I’ve work in hospitality for 12 years and I have never seen anything like it. Daytime Entertainment: Very poor. No engagement with gests, sometimes it seemed like staf
