Great location for a trip to York!

Hotel was lovely room really clean and bed very comfy lovely breakfast

First class customer service, the staff were brilliant. Any request, straight away just amazing. The room we stayed in 4 poster bed, amazing again a joy to stay in. Drinking facilites amazing, comfortable (no ******) the garden facility amazing relaxing. The next day breakfast area, food and experience again world class. If you are coming to York, pay the extra for this place it is a wonderful experience from start to finish.

This was my 70th birthday treat,booked ages ago got a really good early bird deal, enjoyed the stay immensely, had full breakfast and had the famous steak pie for my birthday treat, it didnt disappoint, compliments to the chef. when we stay again we won`t be staying in the guy fawkes room number 11 it was quite noisy as it was next to the outdoor eating area, but on the whole we had a great time many thanks guy fawkes inn

A really great place. We had the top floor with the brass tub and windows looking right out at the cathedral. Very quirky decor and not at all suitable for those with mobility issues, but one of my all-time fave hotel rooms.

We had a late Sunday lunch and seated in the restaurant without prior booking (we felt it was lucky timing judging by it's popularity!) We both chose the amazing steak pie. Such a hearty dish, yet presented beautifully with well flavoured shallot & bacon gravy, velvety buttery mash and perfectly garnished with fresh watercress. The dish was excellently presented and served piping hot! It's probably the best pie I've eaten in all my 57 years! On the ae of it, it may have first appeared pricey ,but actually the quality and quantity of the dish, I can confirm was of the utmost value for money (compared to the more expensive meal we had the previous night in a well known Italian high street chain!) The ambience was great, decor was authentic and created a relaxing environment. All staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. My partner was well informed on the local ales available, before making his choice of beverage. The pies are cooked freshly to order, so it's a real treat to relax in such a great environment in anticipation of a well cooked meal to be served! I would not hesitate to recommend in a heart beat! The weather wasn't great for June, so if I'm lucky enough to revisit the area for a full week's holiday, I'll definitely be rushing back to sample the pie again! The pie is worthy of a revisit by its own merit! Compliments to the chef and congratulations to all the staff on a great venue. A fabulous service all rpund!

We had the room at the top of the stairs. Very comfortable. Both hotel, and bar staff very friendly. Just loved the history of the Inn and the atmosphere of both the restaurant and the pubs. Felt like we had stepped back in time and was a part of the history of Guy Fawkes. Book a stay, you won't be disappointed.

We stayed in the Belfry of this 500 year old inn steeped in history. The experience was a life changing time machine thrusting us back into the 1500's with just enough modern conveniences to satisfy. The inn was clean, the service was stellar, the restaurant, pub, beer garden and food were beyond fantastic. Hannah, Camilla, the gentlemen in the restaurant Sunday night(5/19) and the mornings of 5/20,5/21 were all rockstars! Perfectly located within walking distance to everything. You can wander freely throughout Inner York without a map and as soon as you catch a glimpse of the Minster, you know how to get back to the inn. We love this inn and if we should be so blessed to return to York, we will absolutely stay here again. Ignore any poor reviews, those post-ers should have stayed at a Hilton. I highly recommend this inn to anyone wanting to immerse themselves in a historical English experience.
