Hotels in Clifton, York

York is a small place. This hotel feels like a local homestay with a small area. When I first arrived, I didn't think it was a good choice. But after checking in, I feel that this hotel is not simple. The first choice, I have been in the UK for 18 days, and there is only one hotel with a snack room. The snacks in the snack room are all you can eat! Children simply think this is heaven, there are ice cream, potato chips, candy, apple juice, etc. The whole hotel is made of wood, and the floor is of course wood. The place is small, but the cleanliness is very good, especially the bathroom is very clean. Then there are vinyl records in the room. If you are not satisfied with the songs on the records, you can replace them yourself downstairs. The TV in the room also has netfix and other apps. The location is also pretty good. York Church, you must be there within a 15-minute walk. If there is parking, remember to make an appoin**ent in advance. Otherwise, there is no parking space. You have to go to the public car park to park, but it’s not far away.

With free parking, the old city attractions are within walking distance, very good. Breakfast is available for purchase. There is a self-service kitchen available, with few clean people and plenty of space. The open space on the first floor is also large and comfortable. Room is 6 beds, normal buddy style.

The St Mary's Apartments provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. Comfortable, free parking, good service, good breakfast! Pay attention to the bathroom is relatively thin, foreign water pressure is relatively fine!

Family hotel, the room is very spacious, the facilities are new, the breakfast is good. There was a parking space on the roadside, and the proprietress stopped in the small courtyard of the hotel and received the parking fee the next day. It is estimated that she will not receive parking fees when she stops at the roadside. The railroad is outside the window, but it is not very noisy, and people who are not sensitive should have no influence. No elevator, big box, 3rd floor, need arm strength.

Firstly this is all my opinion. So the place says it is 4 stars as rated by Enjoy England I have looked them up repeatedly and cannot see such an awarding body, so to me that seems like a lie. Again that won't be the only (in my opinion) lie that they say to get people to stay but we'll get to that. It says that it is close to the city centre do you consider 20 minutes on foot close? Again it doesn't tell you it's next to a hospital or show you the front of the building in it's pictures that's because it's a house and a pokey one at that. Next let's move on to the rules they don't tell you about before arrival, you are not allowed alcohol in the room you are not allowed takeaway in the room and you are strongly encouraged not to make any noise after 10pm what is more fun when you're on holiday than copius rules? On top of that the rooms are incredibly small it feels like you're in someone's back bedroom, which wouldn't be a problem if that was clearly shown that was what it was but it wasn't clear. Also whilst in there you feel incredibly on view and like you have to be on your best behavior again as though you are staying with a parent not want you want on holiday. Relaxation isn't on the cards. Finally, the staircase is a deathtrap (in my opinion) incredibly steep and not wheelchair friendly, also the front of the property is very icy and that is also hazardous. Oh and the online check in procedure where you have to give you passport details is also irritating. If I had known any of this before going I never ever would have, in my opinion they keep most of these things like the rules out of sight until you get there again becuase they know it will put people off. Do yourself a favor and stay away

Stayed for 1 night for a gig at the Barbican. Stayed in room 7, a twin. Check in was easy and quick. The room was clean and warm, and the bed was comfy. This is a no frills, functional and well kept place within walking distance of the city centre. I would definitely consider returning next time I come to York.

Booked here for 3 nights. Pictures on internet look fine along with most reviews. But when arrived. Greeted by jason and was told to leave bags downstairs while he checked us in. Took us in a room which was very dated and chairs were badly ripped. (This is the dining area) (Not the best first impression) but jason sorted out the parking permit for us. Then asked what we want for breakfast. Full english and we had to have the same for 3 mornings. . And time of breakfast had to be same time each morning. .Anyway got keys to rooms. Room 6 . Opened door . Room was full of dust. Had a look round and it wasnt cleaned at all. Beds weren't made properly and floor was filthy. Extension cable inbetween 2 single beds. . Wardrobe you couldnt open because it is so close to bed. Dressing table stool couldnt pull it out properly because other bed was in way. Then bathroom . It was disgusting. There were hairs on floor along with plenty of dust. Built up of grime on the shower in corners. Shower which was electric ,it was hot but not much pressure from it. We would of walked away but we were with friends who had booked it and paid up front. At breakfast we went at our set time for the door to be wedged so we couldnt get in. Anyway door opened. Couple of mins later. Toast already on table which was stone cold. with coffee and tea. There were another table for two and their food was on table but hadnt got gown yet. Not good. When we poured coffee it was luke warm. Told the lady and she wasnt very happy. Her response was. Cant be ive just done it . She grabbed it and walked away. She returned with another which was hot but said nothing. Kitchen door was left open and all you could here was a conversation between her and her colleague. Life stories. The kitchen didnt look the most hygienic. Luckily we only used the place to get head down. Beds were awful. Very lumpy and duvet full of bobbles. After 2 nights of having to stay we had to leave couldnt cope with another night in the place. There were lots of other things but i would be writing forever. CERTAINLY WOULD NOT BE RETURNING!!!! My 11 year old son and I stayed at The Grand in York for two nights for sightseeing. There is an NCP car park on the same street, which gets patrons 10% discount and it secure. It’s about 12 minutes walk to York Minster Cathedral and about the same to Jorvik Viking Centre-utterly perfect location! The hotel is beautiful and staff are professional, but friendly and we’re super attentive to my overly keen and chatty son!❤️☺️ The pool is lovely and has a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna with trea**ent rooms. We also stumbled across The Cookery School, so we booked a Parent/Child 3 hour cookery lesson for £65 and made and ate Ravioli and Raspberry Semi-fresco-a new experience, but we are both sold and already looking to return! So much to see in beautiful York and this is the perfect location to do it from ❤️☺️
