We have been to Japan so many times and have been very impressed by Japanese hospitality. However, this was the first time we felt so unwelcome. The front desk lady did not have any emotions on her face and she gave the impression that she was unhappy to see us. She sounded really pissed (just short of slapping my hand) when I asked whether we can take the toothbrushes. The toothbrushes were complimentary amenities for their guests and she asked us not to touch it only after we are settled and about to leave the room then the other staff told us to just feel free take the toothbrushes. They were extremely rigid for the meal times. There were nine of us in the group. For breakfast they were only offering us two timeslot for the breakfast however being in the onsen town, I would want to take a bath before coming for breakfast. During check-in we were told that the group wont be allowed to enter the restaurant unless all 9 of us arrive. I was pretty upset that I cancelled my breakfast so that the rest of the entourage could enter next morning. But the next morning, they allowed them to enter minutes apart. I wish they would be more thoughtful and took some extra step to at least try to explain to me that I can be late a little bit late instead of canceling the breakfast when I told them that because I want to use the onsen. Instead of a flat NO in the beginning. Sometimes the tiny extra mile will bring a smile. Language is a barrier i understand but to me this is simply unwelcoming us. We like to come to Japan because the people take pride in what they do during dinner we also found a strand of hair in the food. This was extremely surprising. They did offer a plate of tempura as apology, but this was a little bit uncomfortable by the standard that we have been going through during all our trips in Japan. However, I have praises for their service Staff who tried very hard to explain to us the meal The onsen and the rooms in need of some changes. While I understand the rustic feel of the onsen they would like to give to the guest, however it does not give a very safe and welcoming feeling I have been to other ryokans that also give rustic vibes, but this one gave an extremely rundown vibe. The floor of the rooms are also very βstickyβ This is extremely unfortunate as I really enjoyed the onsen water but the whole environment just did not make me feel relaxed. The location although a little further in, it is very scenic. Such a pity that we did not have a good experience.

Yufuin, who wanted to stay before. Renewed with the total design of etsuji Mitooka who worked on the luxury sightseeing train. It is an inn, but it has a chair and bed, simple but nice design, and it was perfect for us who did not like people coming in and out of the room. The meal was more comfortable and good than the room meal because it was served in another room. The dishes were also devised and beautiful and delicious. When I asked the young female staff, I was impressed by the answer to everything except the dishes. We couldn't leave food, so we were full of pots, because we had a lot of pots. The inn had a lot of dinner and breakfast, so the inn continued for two days was a little bit painful when it was old. The bath was a family, and there was a large open-air bath and I was able to relax. It was conveniently located to walk around Lake Jinpu and Yuno Tsubo Kaido Road, and it was fun to enjoy shopping and enjoy it. I would like to stay when I visit Yufuin someday.

We were warmly greeted by staff who helped us with our bags and checked us into the hotel room . We had booked into the twin room . Wow it was huge with a bedroom , dining room as well as a wash basin and toilet . Only letdown was that there was no shower nor bathtub . Another friend had booked the one with private indoor and outdoor onsens and they were beautiful . This hotel had two private onsens that one could use anytime . You hang a βin useβ sign on the door each time you use and it was very beautiful . The public bath was also unique and picturesque . Kaiseiki dinner was delicious with wagyu beef . Breakfast was Japanese style and was also delicious . What made the stay special was the Nepalese staff Pathak with his good explanation and his ability to communicate English with us . That made a difference to the stay .
Situated between majestic Mt. Yufu and a landscape of beautifully terraced rice fields, this restful hot spring ryokan is surrounded by pastoral scenery that changes with the harvest cycle.

Itβs an above and beyond hot spring hotel designed by Japanese well known architect. The design is outstanding, peaceful and stylish, especially love the firefly lamp inside the room.
Served by professional staff who carry friendly smiles, delicious traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast. I was attracted by KOLs to try the beef rice in the shopping street. It took me an hour in the queue, but then I found out the even better beef rice was already tasted at hotel dinner.
Enjoy staff-led morning exercise and DIY handmade workshop.
I did even enjoy solo outdoor hot spring under snowing. What a perfect stay at Kai Yufuin

We booked 2x Japanese rooms for 3 nights, over the rugby period. Obviously all hotels were charging a premium, but having booked 12 months in advance, at a cost of virtually Β£2,000 (excluding breakfast and dinner), I expected the hotel to be pretty good. The staff were very pleasant, but the communication was a problem - appreciate that this is our fault as much as theirs! The rooms were very shabby in our opinion, the furniture was badly marked and it didn't seem very clean. The worst problem was the smell in one of the rooms though, the staff told us it was from the tatami matting, but it clearly wasn't, as the other room had the same floorcovering and didn't smell. We ended up thinking it was the drains - but it was very unpleasant. The bathroom was pretty basic, and not well maintained - dirty grout around the tub etc. We stayed at 5 other hotels in Japan, and generally the standard was as expected - this was the only disappointment when considering cost vs. quality. The futons were more comfortable that I had expected - I slept really well.

γThe place to stay in Yufuin was very hesitated. Of course, there are many nice inn. The inn we chose from among them was the go ayatake Kan of tsurutomi. The decisive factor was the great view from the inn. The Sakuratomi Go Ayake Kan was located on the south side of Yufuin town, on the edge of Yufuin basin. Therefore, there was no block on the south side, and the front was the γ of Yufu Dake Do hall, and the town of Yufuin spreading in the basin below it was a view. Especially when I was in the open-air bath, Yufu Dake was rising in front of me, and it was a wonderful inn as we imagined. The rooms and public space are nice and clean. The dinner and breakfast at the nice dining room were very delicious, and the staff who contacted me were only good people, and it was a very satisfying stay.γ

Room accommodation with open-air bath [Room] Yufu Dake was well seen from the open-air bath. It is convenient to wash shampoo and body in the open-air bath or in the inner bath in the room. There are chairs and tables on the balcony. γAmenitiesγ There are several cosmetics for men and women on the washbasin in the room. There are cleaning, but for the price of the room, including other amenities, it was .... γBathγ Small towels are prepared in the public bath, so you don't need to use wet things. There are few amenities in the dressing room. [Meal] Private room in the dining hall with evening breakfast. Dinner and Bungo beef steak were soft and delicious. When I entered the private room, I was already prepared for sashimi and baked fish on the table. There may be corona measures, but the baked fish was cold, so it was a little disappointing. There was breakfast, hot tofu and specialty ryukyu. There was a matcha and sweet service at check-in. It is good to spend a leisurely time walking to Lake Jinxi. I just felt that it was not as expensive.

It is a 5-story inn. To commemorate the anniversary of its founding οΌοΌοΌ, there was a free beer drink service in the lounge. It is a long-established inn in Yufuin Onsen. The customer service of the front desk staff was polite β’ and kind. I was able to answer the difference between Yufuin and Yufuin properly. I stayed in a large Japanese-style room on the οΌ floor. When I opened the curtain, Mt. Yufu was approaching in front of me. The bathrooms are not unit-type, and the bath β’ Toilet β’ wash basins are independent. Supper is a summer Oitagawa kaiseki course. All the dishes were delicious. In particular, the dishes that left an impression on me were grilled on a Japanese black beef hoba miso ceramic plate. The warmed miso has a hoba scent, and the slightly sweet taste goes well with the beef. The more you want to refill it with an exquisite taste. Breakfast is buffet style. I was satisfied with the local menu of Oita Prefecture, including dango soup. There are two indoor baths in the large hot spring bath with a spacious space. There is also a whirlpool bath and a Louis Bosti hot water of the incense hot water. The open-air bath has natural rocks on the side facing the garden. The hot water temperature is a little hot and has a feeling of slimy. What is it in the indoor bath! Yunohana. Yunohana, which crystallized the hot spring ingredients, was in bloom in the bathtub. The hot spring is a good proof. I was able to stay at this hot spring inn and became a good memory of my husband and wife trip.

The large open-air bath overlooking Mt. Yufu has the best atmosphere. It's warm, so you can soak in it leisurely. For men, there is already a οΌ or a small open-air bath that is hot and can be used by the bridge. I stayed in the main building. It is a building with a considerable age, and although it is undeniably old, the toilet has been renovated and cleaned well. The dishes were basic plans, so there were no high-class ingredients, but I was satisfied with the contents that I could feel politeness. Finally, the response of the employees was very good and made the impression of this inn very good.

GGuest UserWe stayed at the Ryokan almost three months ago. And I still did not write a review. We stayed there almost by accident, as the Ryokan we intended to stay in had only a vacancy for one night. There was time pressure. So I accepted their suggestion of their colleagues. Maybe I would not have picked it if I had looked into it better as I prefer a traditional house and here the old house (badly damaged by an earthquake) has been erased and replaced with daring new architecture. Yet is turned out to be the best place of our trip, one of the best places I stayed in, and I have been in many places all over Japan. How to write a review that does justice to this special place ? A place that has all the old fashioned refinery, mastering the tradition of omotenashi, blending it perfectly with a young vibrant savoir-vivre, global art and gastronomy. |I cannot write a review. Please read all the other ones, I only want to say : thank you, arigato gozaimasu γγγγ¨γγγγγΎγ
Ssvezia2013The hotel is comfortable and perfectly Japanese style and many rooms are faced with the river, which is the relaxing noise. The hotel is also connected to the restaurant and the last day of our journey has given us a very pleasant top floor and the food has been superlative as often happens in Japan. The landscape is a good one to relax after the trekking on the yufuin mountain, with the pleasure of the country, attacked by tourists and souvenir stores but also to visit the surrounding landscape. I liked it very much and I would return to this structure without hesitation, where the young owner speaks a little English.
GGuest Userwe are group of 3 adults 2 kids and 1 baby. The hotel is clean, and utensils for cooking are useful. We were able to cook for our own dinner. laundry area with a heating exhaust fan is good for drying clothes over the night.
The only thing is the stairs is a bit dangerous for babies and young kids as they are quite steep. Otherwise our stay had been perfect.
GGuest UserThis traditional but upscale Japanese hotel has amazing views overlooking Mount Yufu. We stayed at the Villas which are large rooms each with an outdoor small private onsen with great views of the mountain and countryside. It was so relaxing to soak in the private onsen and soak in the nature around. The villa was large and comfortable but the bedroom section was in an upper duplex with slightly steep stairs, which would be challenging for those with mobility issues. The other part of the hotel looks like it has more traditional rooms. The main reception and restaurant were both luxurious. Food (dinner and breakfast included) was superb with Japanese kaiseki for dinner and traditional breakfast set. The resort has 2 names: Okuyado Buaiso and Okuyufuin Kohgen Resort-this made it slightly confusing to find. Although prices are high (about US$500/night) I would highly recommend to stay here for the lovely experience.
AAnonymous UserThis is the failure of the blind hotel selection for this trip to Japan. . In fact, there are many other hotel options in the town. Fortunately, the surrounding environment heals and does not affect the overall travel mood.
The so-called private bath is as small as a single bathtub, and the only outdoor hot spring time is very short. I didn't know that the scheduled dinner was not in the hotel until I arrived. I needed to take a car, and I didn't explain it in advance. It is very similar to a simple ABB standard hotel, which is very different from the expected hot spring hotel. It is also far from the station. The advantage is that it is very close to Jinlin Lake. Get up early and go for a walk. The environment of the town is so beautiful
The attitude of the service staff is very good. After 9 o'clock, they get off work and ask for self service. At this price, I can't complain, and I won't choose it next time
AAnonymous UserThere were some minor problems when checking in. Because I did not receive an email from the hotel, I needed to contact the hotel through trip.com customer service to get the door opening code. It takes 3-4 minutes to walk from Jinlin Lake to the hotel. The location is quite satisfactory. The interior decoration of the hotel is good, and the outdoor hot spring is a must-have. I recommend it to everyone. οΏΌοΏΌ
KKelvin KeungFor dinner and breakfast, you have to go to the main building to pick up and drag them to your campsite. After eating, you must pick up the tableware and remaining food by yourself, pack them up, and bring them back to the main building for return. Good thing you don't have to clean the place yourself. At this price, I don't think it's worth it
The food was okay, both steaks were delicious, but no drinks were included. If possible, buy some supplies at a convenience store
There is no toilet in my room, so I have to go to the toilet in the main building. I was thinking that if the campground was full, there might not be enough toilets. In addition, in winter, walking from the room to the toilet through the open air is very unpleasant.
If you just stay in the hotel and donβt have a barbecue meal, itβs not bad to try staying in a tent and enjoy a bath.
GGuest UserI booked Yufuin Akarinoyado in Yufuin, Oita Prefecture, Kyushu on Trip.com to check in on October 23. The room I booked has two single beds and a bunk bed. , I only registered myself when I booked online. In fact, I had a friend staying at the hotel. When I arrived at the hotel, I had to add οΏ₯3,000 to let my friend check in. This is really unreasonable! There is no toilet in the room, and there is no water for washing hands, drinking, or boiling water. We have to use a shared toilet. I live on the third floor and there is no elevator. To drink water, I have to walk from the third floor to the lounge on the basement floor every time. I have to urinate at night. It's very annoying to have to walk to the hotel's public restroom outside the room!
CChi KwanFirst of all, based on the price, it is acceptable.
Food-wise, nothing surprising, just average.
The large transparent glass window in the dining area allows you to enjoy the outdoor scenery, which is the best thing about this hotel.
In terms of facilities, there is nothing to show for it. It is just a small hotel.
As for the room, the equipment is average and a bit old.
The biggest problem is that the check-out time is 10:00 in the morning, and because we have to accommodate the pick-up schedule, we can only choose the bus that leaves at 9:00 in the morning, so we can't enjoy the hot springs.
(Note: The hotel is equipped with a shuttle bus, but I did not make a reservation. I estimated that I could walk there, but it took 30 minutes. Therefore, it is recommended that guests make a reservation for the shuttle bus from the station to the hotel.)
