Great service from staff. Stayed at Verde for 4 days and the entire experience was genuinely like nothing I have experienced before in my life. Watching the sunset from a balcony with a view of the docked ships and boats was a particular highlight as was swimming in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. As for waiting staff, Leticia and Hidaya in particular were very helpful.

Excellent hotel in great location We used TA to choose hotel for our stay in Zanzibar as we were unsure in what location on the island to base ourselves As it worked out we were very pleased that we chose the Medinat Al Bahrain as our base. Excellent hotel, very quiet - in fact sometimes we felt as if we had the place to ourselves. Good food, great buffet breakfast and two restaurants to choose from on site. Conveniently located not far from airport especially after long connecting flight via Dubai ($10 cab fare) and same distance into Stonetown ($10 cab fare) Small public beach attached to hotel and a nice restaurant (Wooden Table) 100yds along beach After experiencing Stonetown we were glad that we stayed slightly out as the town is very busy and some hotels we first looked at could be hard to find down inaccessible (by vehicle) alleys. We did visit on a couple of occasions to do the walking tour and restaurants (Cape Town Fish Market - see separate review) - again location of hotel made visiting easy and there were a number of restaurants/bars that we could also have visited given the time. The hotel was also a good base for visiting other parts of the island which we did through Alsa Tours Zanzibar (reviewed separately) Issa (the concierge) arranged for us to meet Abdul (the owner) from Alsa Tours at the hotel who was our guide/driver for the tours that we did - prices were good and very competitive with other tour operators and more personal as tours in most cases were private We did (all reviewed separately): The North - Turtle Sanctuary/Kendra beach West - Spice Farm/Prison Island/Walking tour of Stonetown East - Butterfly Sanctuary/Jozani Forest/The Rock Restaurant South East - Safari Blue - boat trip/snorkelling/beach bbq Would say that the hotel was a great choice hotel was maticulously clean and the staff always friendly helpful and accommodating which made for a perfect stay Would highly recommend to any travellers to Zanzibar

The receptionist were helpful, the staff are all nice and helpful, the rooms are neat, the environment was so serene and friendly. Would definitely visit again.! The fact that it was close to the airport also made it easily accessible. Zubedya was also nice to us, look for her when next you go!!!

it was a very pleasant stay for us. they even upgraded our room from garden view to sea facing., huge room with amazing sea view during high tide., very clean property and the rooms., breakfast too good., we had delicious dinner at night on ala carta basis., price at par to good restaurants, also, the room service of staff was very humble., not a very big property but a beautifully designed property with all the required amenities near to you., definitely deserved 5 star from our side, and there are lots of mixed reviews, but, we must admit that we had a wonderful stay there and at the price, they offered on peak season., it should be appreciated. thanx to golden palm boutique.

We spent a beautiful stay at DOZ from August 29 to September 10 2019.nous We were very welcome. We recommend the different restaurants that you eat very well. The hotel is excellent, staff are always at the small care on the beach, breakfast, dinner and always with a smile. Cocktails are very good. Zanzibar is a beautiful country where there are very beautiful beaches. I booked online with ************ and when I went to check in I was told the room wasn't available but they could offer me another one in another property for the same price. I had to drag my luggage there alone through the scorching heat, only to be led into a completely dilapidated house. Unfortunately, very intense artificial fragrances could not cover up the smell of mold. The room itself was musty, very small, shabbily furnished, with a shower cubicle right in the room next to the bed. There was no water coming out of the shower and the whole impression was just depressing. Incidentally, the employee was greeted there by some angry guests who complained, for example, about the running water not working/the shower not working, which the employee dismissed with sarcasm. Since this room had absolutely nothing in common with the fancy photos of Hiliki House, I rejected it, which was apparently met with understanding. I was told that bookings made via ************ are generally not considered binding, especially not if ”payment on site” was chosen as the payment method, not even if the booking is guaranteed with a credit card and cannot be canceled - so it's my own fault. But the best thing - even though I had rejected the alternative accommodation, the hotel apparently tried twice later to debit money from my credit card.

Excellent hotel in great location We used TA to choose hotel for our stay in Zanzibar as we were unsure in what location on the island to base ourselves As it worked out we were very pleased that we chose the Medinat Al Bahrain as our base. Excellent hotel, very quiet - in fact sometimes we felt as if we had the place to ourselves. Good food, great buffet breakfast and two restaurants to choose from on site. Conveniently located not far from airport especially after long connecting flight via Dubai ($10 cab fare) and same distance into Stonetown ($10 cab fare) Small public beach attached to hotel and a nice restaurant (Wooden Table) 100yds along beach After experiencing Stonetown we were glad that we stayed slightly out as the town is very busy and some hotels we first looked at could be hard to find down inaccessible (by vehicle) alleys. We did visit on a couple of occasions to do the walking tour and restaurants (Cape Town Fish Market - see separate review) - again location of hotel made visiting easy and there were a number of restaurants/bars that we could also have visited given the time. The hotel was also a good base for visiting other parts of the island which we did through Alsa Tours Zanzibar (reviewed separately) Issa (the concierge) arranged for us to meet Abdul (the owner) from Alsa Tours at the hotel who was our guide/driver for the tours that we did - prices were good and very competitive with other tour operators and more personal as tours in most cases were private We did (all reviewed separately): The North - Turtle Sanctuary/Kendra beach West - Spice Farm/Prison Island/Walking tour of Stonetown East - Butterfly Sanctuary/Jozani Forest/The Rock Restaurant South East - Safari Blue - boat trip/snorkelling/beach bbq Would say that the hotel was a great choice hotel was maticulously clean and the staff always friendly helpful and accommodating which made for a perfect stay Would highly recommend to any travellers to Zanzibar

Great service from staff. Stayed at Verde for 4 days and the entire experience was genuinely like nothing I have experienced before in my life. Watching the sunset from a balcony with a view of the docked ships and boats was a particular highlight as was swimming in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. As for waiting staff, Leticia and Hidaya in particular were very helpful.
