Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate
Zermatt, a quiet town hidden in the heart of the Alps, is an ideal place to see the wonders of glaciers. Here, the majestic Matterhorn stands proudly, surrounded by spectacular glacier landscapes, as if it is a work of art carefully carved by nature. Here, visitors can see the magnificence and mystery of the glacier up close. The glacier is like a silver dragon, winding and circling in the mountains, covered with crystal clear ice crystals, flashing dazzling light. As the sun shines, the glacier will also present unpredictable blue and green colors, which is breathtakingly beautiful. In addition to static viewing, Zermatt also provides a variety of ways to get close to the glacier. Visitors can wear professional equipment, embark on a glacier hiking tour, feel the subtle sound of ice cracking under their feet, and touch the thousand-year-old ice with their own hands; or choose a glacier adventure, under the guidance of a guide, go deep into the glacier and explore the secrets hidden under the ice and snow.

A Winter Wonderland in Switzerland – A Family Adventure!

Our recent winter trip to Switzerland was an absolute dream come true! Traveling with three kids, we were determined to experience all the beauty this country has to offer, and let me tell you – Switzerland did not disappoint. We began our journey in Lucerne, a charming city that took our breath away with its stunning lake views and picturesque streets. The kids loved exploring the historic old town and walking along the iconic Chapel Bridge, while we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and scenic landscapes. Next, we ventured to Lauterbrunnen, a place straight out of a fairytale. Surrounded by towering waterfalls and nestled in the Swiss Alps, Lauterbrunnen felt magical. The snow-covered village was incredibly peaceful, and the kids were thrilled by the winter wonderland atmosphere. From Lauterbrunnen, we took a short trip to the car-free mountain village of Murren, which offered some of the most spectacular panoramic views we’ve ever seen. The kids enjoyed sledging and snowball fights, while we took in the stunning scenery of the surrounding mountains. One of the highlights of our trip was the journey to Mount Pilatus, where we took the world's steepest cogwheel railway. The views from the top were absolutely breathtaking – snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear skies, and a view of Lake Lucerne that left us speechless. It was definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Switzerland in winter. Another highlight was Lake Blausee, with its ethereal, blue waters surrounded by snowy forests. It felt like something out of a winter postcard. The peaceful surroundings and the hike around the lake were a hit with the whole family, and the kids couldn’t get enough of the serene beauty of the area. Oeschinensee was another unforgettable stop on our journey. This pristine lake is tucked away in the mountains, and we took a cable car ride up to witness its stunning beauty. The frozen lake, snow-covered trees, and the dramatic mountains in the background made for some incredible family photos. No visit to Switzerland would be complete without a stop in Grindelwald, a charming village nestled at the foot of the Eiger mountain. The kids had a blast exploring the sledging runs and playing in the snow, while we enjoyed the cozy alpine atmosphere and the gorgeous views of the surrounding peaks. The highlight of the entire trip had to be Zermatt, home to the iconic Matterhorn. We had a chance to ride the Gornergrat Railway, which offered awe-inspiring views of the Matterhorn, and the kids were just in awe of the snow-covered village. Zermatt’s charm is unmatched, and the trip to see the Matterhorn up close was unforgettable. Finally, we wrapped up our adventure in Zurich, a city that beautifully blends history with modernity. The Christmas markets, festive lights, and snowy streets made Zurich the perfect place to end our trip. We explored the old town, took a stroll along the lake, and enjoyed some delicious Swiss chocolate – a sweet ending to

Dreams come true, Matterhorn Mountain (Day trip)

#100waysoftravel #travel #myitinerary #solotrip #swiss Board into train in the morning from Zurich to Zermatt using Swiss pass and track and plan using SBB apps for the recommended of fastest route to reach Zermatt. (Journey estimate 3 to 4 hours, change at Visp, a small city in the heart of Valais.) As my arrival to Zermatt village, the weather is cloudy. I walked straight up to the cable car station and counter informed that the view of Matterhorn mountain may not be spectacular. So, I still proceed and bought the cable car towards Furi station, one stop away, foot of mountain. Upon arrival, everyone in the cable car is excited where we are able to see snow patches everywhere. After spending much time of photo taking, I head back to the town for lunch. Can’t miss the popular cheese fondue, the basic set comes with bread CHF 20, optional to add meat, potatoes, etc. Next, I proceed to Zermatt funicular station towards Sunnegga funicular station, to get a different view of Matterhorn mountain. Walking around 10 mins to a Lake Leisee and manage to get glorious view of the Matterhorn by the lake. There are wooden seats around by the lake where you may chill and enjoy the scenery with cooling weather. Walking back to the Sunnegga station before heading to Zermatt town, you may get a tea break at cafe restaurant named Buffet Bar Sunnegga and get the last glimpse of Matterhorn mountain.

Nestled at the foot of the Alps, it's tranquil and beautiful, free from throngs of tourists, yet brimming with authentic Swiss charm. If you're looking for an off-the-beaten-path, immersive travel experience, don't miss out on this one~ 🏞️Must-See Attractions 1. Aletsch Glacier: The largest glacier in Europe, it's a true masterpiece of nature! The 20-kilometer ice flow resembles a silver dragon winding through the mountains. Standing on the viewing platforms of Moosfluh, Hohfluh, Bettmerhorn, and Eggishorn, you can gaze upon this spectacular glacier. The pristine ice shimmers under the sunlight, and the distant snow-capped mountains stretch endlessly, creating a scene that is both awe-inspiring and calming. The surrounding Aletsch Forest is also perfect for hiking. Immersing yourself in nature, every step is a delight. 2. Matterhorn: This iconic triangular peak, with its sharp summit piercing the sky, is both unique and captivating. Whether viewed from the Gornergrat observation deck or admired from Rothorn, its majesty is undeniable. You can also visit the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the highest summer ski area in Europe, open year-round. Even if you don't ski, the Glacier Palace is a fun place to explore! Additionally, the museum's exhibits on Zermatt's transformation from a small mountain village to a resort town, as well as photos and information about the first ascent of the Matterhorn, are well worth a look. 3. Stockalper Palace: This 17th-century Baroque castle, with its three gilded domes, exudes grandeur from the moment you approach. Take a guided tour to delve into its history and admire the exquisite Parisian wallpaper and 18th-century silk paintings within the palace. Strolling through the courtyard and gardens, you can also see the monastery, the Jesuit church, and the towers of the old town, a picture of tranquility. 🍱Food Recommendations 1. Cheese Fondue: A traditional Swiss dish, the cheese fondue in Brig is rich and fragrant. Dip pieces of bread into the thick cheese, take a bite while it's hot, and savor the rich and satisfying flavors. 2. Raclette: With a golden-brown and crispy exterior and a soft, stringy interior, raclette is served with accompaniments like gherkins, creating a savory and delicious treat. 3. The chocolate shops along the streets are worth exploring, and buying a few pieces as souvenirs is a great idea. 🚗Transportation Guide 1. Train: Switzerland has a well-developed railway network. You can take a train to Brig from other Swiss cities, enjoying the stunning scenery along the way, like scenes from a movie. 2.
