"When reversing in Beijing, you need to stay overnight for the transition. We arrived at nearly 11pm and there was still someone at the front desk. The room was clean, but too small. It was difficult to turn over in the bed with a child. There was no place to eat breakfast nearby. It took 12 or 13 minutes to walk to find a breakfast shop. Finally, we went to the West Station to eat."

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Mountain Companion Inn in Gubei Watertown near Beijing, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. The inn sits amidst rolling hills, and the view of the quaint Gubei Watertown was simply mesmerizing.
The interior of the inn was equally impressive. Immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, it exuded an inviting charm that made me feel right at home. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the interior design, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance.
But what truly set this inn apart was the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the receptionists to the housekeeping team, everyone was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. They were knowledgeable about the area and offered helpful recommendations on places to explore, making our visit even more enjoyable.
During our stay, we took advantage of the various activities the inn had to offer, such as hiking trails and boat rides through the Watertownâs waterways. Each excursion allowed us to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings, and it was a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Overall, the Mountain Companion Inn at Gubei Watertown is a true gem. It seamlessly blends modern comfort with the tranquility of nature, offering an ideal retreat for those seeking a serene getaway. I highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting the area, as it promises an enchanting experience that will leave you with cherished memories for years to come.

Excellent
AAnonymous UserStayed for 2 nights in Oct 2024, planned for 1 night to visit around the town itself and another night for the Simatai Great Wall.
1. Location - Inn is located within Gubei Watertown and it is necessary to go through the watertown to visit the Simatai Great Wall. By booking an accommodation within the town gives you discounted entrance price into the town and since we planned to visit the great wall and explore the town itself we have decided to stay for 2 nights (also partly the cost and time to travel there from Beijing). Inn is located near the main square where some performances are held and near a shuttle service stop (free shuttle services within town if youâre staying in an accommodation within town. Overall a good location within town.
2. Room - Booked a family room for 4 (2 single beds in each level). Room is mostly made of wood hence its not really a modern feel and its not really sound-proof which the staff has notified in advance. Room is spacious and bathroom is big. Stairs that goes up to the 2nd level is stable but can be a little steep for seniors. Overall the room is decent. It comes with tomatoes, peanuts and tea as welcome gift.
3. Luggage - Thereâs a luggage service whereby you can arrange for your luggage to be transported to your hotel from entrance, and from hotel back to entrance. This is definitely needed as the ground in the watertown is not a smooth surface and can be hard to carry your luggages around.
4. Services & breakfast - Staffâs services is really good and efficient! Breakfast is simple but has good variety. Thereâs the buffet portion which consists of small dishes for porridge, bread, bun, drinks etc. And thereâs an alacarte portion where you need to order in advance the night before such as bacon, egg, sausages, noodles etc. i think its a good initiative to avoid wastage.
Overall a very good stay and would recommend if you are visiting Gubei Watertown and would like to stay in a more traditional feel.

GGuest UserCheck in and out was easy. From bus station, I had a leisure walk for 10mins to the trousim checkin building (The only way to enter Gubei Wtown). They gave free entrance ticket to Gubei because my hotel provides. If your hotel stay is outside, you will need to buy another ticket everytime you re-enter this area. My hotel is a 20mins walk from the Tourism checkin building so make sure you talk the free shuttle. They have luggage delivery but be warned they may take long hours to deliver during peak season. Deyuelou is nice to stay, simple. my Kang's room has a window to see a river. The aircond is also a heater. Easy to use once I Google Translate the buttons.

SSurajRA beautiful Chinese courtyard-style house with a charming rose garden, this stay was truly unforgettable. Our hosts, May and David, went above and beyond to make our visit to the Great Wall and our time in China as perfect as possible. They booked our entry tickets, guided us through the process at the ticket booth, and shared invaluable tips on using Chinese apps, something that was especially helpful since this was our very first hotel in China.
Mayâs homemade rose tea and the delicious home-cooked meals prepared by Davidâs father were full of flavor and warmth. From the moment we booked about a month in advance, May stayed in contact with us, offering advice and assistance with apps and logistics. She and David also arranged a cab for us to the Water Great Wall and back to our hotel in the city, making everything seamless.
More than just wonderful hosts, they have become good friends. We still keep in touch, and even now while we are in Guangzhou, they continue offering advice whenever we need it. For anyone new to China, this is not just the best place to stay, itâs also a connection to kind-hearted people who make your journey truly special.

DdabaituThis inn is located in the ancient town, and its location is excellent, right by Wangjing Street. It's quiet despite being in a bustling area, and the room is very comfortable. There's a tatami mat by the window for scenic views.
It's convenient to walk everywhere from here, and you can also go hike the Gubeikou Great Wall.
There are also many local snacks nearby.

GGuest UserIt was a little hard to find for someone who doesn't read Chinese characters well. I don't think the staff speaks English, I at least spoke Mandarin to them. But they were super friendly. Room was nice for the price. The breakfast was a little underwhelming but you can get freshly made egg dishes which is a plus. And eating next to the river was also a very pleasant experience (just make sure you bring or ask for bug spray).

MM244348****The room was really cozy, and the large *kang* (heated bed) was incredibly comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised that the tap water is drinkable here! The location is fantastic, right at the foot of the Great Wall and very close to Duanjia Hot Springs. It's perfect for a relaxing soak after a hike.

Very Good
GGuest UserGood base for climbing the Simatai Great Wall - easy walk over to the trailhead in the morning. Also smack in the middle of the attractions, with short walks to the fountain show, drone show, and a boat ride pier. The place is themed as a traditional style guesthouse, and so the decor and layout may seem a little dated and rustic - but that might be part of the charm depending on how you look at it. They have their own in-house coffeehouse and restaurant, but there are also a lot of other food options around the vicinity depending on how far you're willing to walk. It's a little far from the town entrance, but the free luggage forwarding service will take your luggage straight to the premises for you. That said, because the rooms are spread around a fairly large compound, you may still need to carry your luggage a short walk - possibly including a bit of stairs - between the reception area and your room.
We also got a discount ticket for hot springs - a facility of which is also nearby.

GGuest UserAn Excellent Hub for Business Travel and In-Depth Beijing Exploration!
Choosing the Milean Hotel for my business trip turned out to be an excellent decision, largely thanks to its strategic location which offered immense convenience and was a pleasant surprise. Situated in Sidaokou, the vibrant core of Zhongguancun, it's an absolute godsend for those of us who regularly interact with internet giants. Its proximity to client headquarters dramatically reduced commute times and costs, making business meetings exceptionally easy and efficient.
What's more, the transportation network here is incredibly comprehensive and simply perfect. Whether you're heading to Beijing North Station for high-speed rail or connecting at the Xizhimen transportation hub, both are just a short ride away, ensuring seamless transitions for your onward journey. For tourists keen on exploring the city, it also serves as an ideal base, offering easy access to Haidian District's many tech parks and prestigious universities.
After a busy day, the hotel's comfortable and quiet ambiance provided the perfect retreat. The professionalism and friendliness of the front desk staff also added a significant touch of warmth to my stay. It perfectly marries the efficiency required for business with the convenience sought by travelers. I highly recommend it to all business travelers and tourists looking to explore Beijing efficiently. This truly was an outstanding value-for-money stay!
