Located inside the Datong old city, the inn itself is a historic building and has a history of its own. There are many interesting decors to look at in the property. The location is excellent and nearby some very good restaurants. It has a laundry room with 2 washers and 1 dryer which are very important in my opinion.The room was very nice, the cleanliness was very good and kept in very good condition. Although there was no rotating menu for the buffet breakfast each morning, the food is good and there's also beef/lamb offal rice noodles on request. The best parts about the hotel are the staff and service. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. I usually get disappointed by restaurant recommendations by hotel staff but all the restaurants recommended were excellent and not overly expensive. They could help you make a reservation (those restaurants get super busy on weekends and holidays) as well if you don't speak Chinese. We had to check out really early on the last day and the staff promptly packed us some eggs and bread for breakfast even though we didn't request it the night prior. I'm sure if you request it the day/night before, they'll be able to pack you something more substantial. I don't normally leave reviews but this property was worth my time.

The location is great, nestled between Yingxun Gate (South Gate) and Shangxi Gate, making it convenient for sightseeing yet surprisingly quiet. The facilities are good, but what really impressed me was picture #2 [assuming this refers to a specific feature/amenity shown in a picture]. I hope they can plug in the outlets before guests check in. The buckwheat pillow was very comfortable! The service was excellent; they communicated in advance about pickup/drop-off and even offered to drive me to attractions. Breakfast was abundant, featuring local specialties like Pingyao beef. It was well-balanced and tasty. The menu changed over the two days, though for me, there was a bit too much meat. If a full buffet isn't feasible, perhaps offering an à la carte menu where guests can choose their items would help reduce waste. And the cats at the hotel are adorable!

The B&B is close to the North Gate, so it was pretty easy to find. The owner even picked me up from Pingyao Ancient City Station late at night, which I really appreciated – it made my travel experience so much better. They carefully explained the locations of attractions and gave me a map. When I left, they even gave me some vinegar as a gift; they're incredibly warm and welcoming. Seriously, if you're coming to Pingyao, you should definitely stay here, haha! It's safe, clean, and the facilities are all there. For longer stays, they even proactively clean your room. The decor has a local flair too – who wouldn't want to try sleeping on a traditional heated 'kang' bed without any fuss? Thanks for everything, I'll definitely stay here again next time. This time I intentionally chose a guesthouse within the ancient city of Datong, and it turned out to be the biggest surprise for my child! As soon as we entered, my child was captivated by the peacocks, parrots, squirrels, and koi... it was like a small zoo. Every morning, my child would wake up and run to the courtyard to watch the peacocks display their feathers, chat with the parrots, and observe the little squirrel running in its wheel for ages. They also fed the koi in the pond multiple times. My child had an absolute blast. The room was clean, with an antique charm, and the owner was very welcoming, even helping us plan our itinerary. The location is excellent, right outside Huayan Temple. If you're visiting Datong with kids, this place offers an unparalleled experience. Highly recommended!

It is a privilege and thrill to stay in the ancient city of Pingyao. The Jinxuan Hotel is such a great find. It is in a beautiful old courtyard building not far from the South Gate entrance. It is simple and authentic but has many up to date conveniences. The room was huge with gorgeous high raftered ceilings and a 4 post bed. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The best part of the stay was our gracious hosts. They gave us so much help and good information and were available whenever we needed.

My Pingyao trip was made perfect by staying at Qigong Mansion. This century-old courtyard, hidden in the heart of the ancient city, has a story etched into every brick and tile. Staying here felt like a journey back in time. What touched me even more was the owner's attentive and thoughtful service throughout our stay; he even personally drove us to the station, which was truly a rare kindness. Pingyao has the scenery, and Qigong Mansion has the heart. Next time I'm in Pingyao, I'll definitely come back here. I genuinely recommend Qigong Mansion to all friends visiting Pingyao – you won't regret choosing it!

The B&B has an excellent location, right within the pedestrian street. Food, drinks, and entertainment are all nearby, which is very convenient. The front is a storefront, and the back is a courtyard with a beautifully decorated night view. The room isn't huge, but there's an umbrella outside with three chairs and a table, perfect for eating or chatting. The small courtyard is enclosed, so even though it's on the first floor, you don't feel a lack of privacy. Everything is well-equipped, and the service attitude is great. The only downside was the smell of smoke. It got much better after opening the doors and windows to air it out, but it returned after closing them at night. Since we checked in at 11 PM, we didn't bother contacting the front desk. I hope they can improve this. They kindly gave us some local specialty vinegar and pastries, which was a nice touch. Due to time constraints, we didn't get to try on the ancient costumes, but we plan to come back and do it next time. Parking for cars is outside the city gate and costs 20 yuan for the night. Electric vehicle charging is a bit far away, so plan ahead for that. The guided tour and electric cart ride cost 120 yuan, which I honestly think is completely unnecessary – consider this a heads-up to avoid that expense! Pingyao Ancient City is definitely worth experiencing, and this B&B is also highly recommended.

Excellent value for money, spotlessly clean, and the staff provide great service. Breakfast is included, and the location offers very convenient transportation for exploring. In the evenings, it's lovely to stroll out to the square and enjoy the cool air. I wholeheartedly recommend Wutongge Hotel to anyone planning a trip to Datong.

I absolutely love the vibe of this building; it feels like stepping back in time! The owner's service was excellent; they personally picked me up and dropped me off at the North Gate. Since it was off-season, it was very quiet during my stay, and everything was comfortable. When I was looking, I noticed that rooms at other guesthouses were relatively small, but theirs were a bit larger for the same price, which made for a more comfortable stay. A special mention: you can actually use their place as a shooting location, and the owner provides a one-stop service, including arranging clothes. You can also wear your own traditional attire and take photos within the premises, which is just fantastic! A big thank you to the front desk gentleman for the one-stop service and to the lady for her warm farewell.
