Songzhuju is one of the nicest homestay I've stayed in. 1. Butler Ah Fei and all staff are very welcoming and friendly. Ah Fei contacted me in advance to arrange pick up and itinerary. He's also the go-to guy for purchase of authentic tea and local produce. 2. Superior location The homestay is situated about 100m from north gate. Considered easy to find but I would still recommend the pick up service as the town is such a maze. It takes around 30mins by car from Lijiang Railway to the ancient town. Restaurants, cafes and shops are everywhere. 3. Spacious and cosy room Room was clean, full amenities like bathrobe, slippers, kettle, shampoo, conditioner etc all provided There are endless options of homestays to choose from but Songzhuju stands out for being so homely and such kind of personal service is really rare. After 3 days of stay, i cannot pinpoint a single negative aspect at all. Would return for sure and highly recommend to all travellers! . Bed and pillows quite comfortable. Breakfast provided from 8am. Laundry room available.

Having traveled to over 60 countries, this is by far the oldest hotel I've ever stayed in, boasting over 200 years of history and an entirely wooden structure. The moment I saw their promotional photos online, I was instantly captivated by the exquisite wood carving art. The white pagoda in the courtyard offers a different charm during the day and at night. On the rooftop, the prayer wheel, combined with the specially designed mirrored floor, allowed me to capture unparalleled photos! Finally, a huge shout-out to the hotel staff. The wind blew my newly bought hat into the backyard of a neighboring house, an almost inaccessible area. Yet, after we had already checked out, they managed to retrieve it, immediately contacted me, asked for the address of my next hotel in Lijiang, and sent it via the fastest express delivery so it would arrive before my check-in. This genuinely touched me deeply. If any friends plan to visit Shangri-La, I will definitely, strongly recommend they stay at this hotel!

The hotel is a bit far from the centre, but the room is splendidly decorated with genuine interior design. The whole area is warmly lit by not only electric appliances but also the traditional stove. So impressive. The room itself is so spacious enough for the whole family. Archaic and delicate timber furniture in the entire space made me feel like I was in a fairy tale. Wooden bathtub is another warm heart element.Staff with sincere smiles are always welcoming and supportive. Finally the breakfast is simple but truly tasteful.I do love the place. It was a wonderful experience.

Our stay at this hotel in Lijiang Old Town was truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home after a long journey. Their warmth and attentiveness added a very personal touch to the entire experience. The environment of the hotel is simply beautiful, with a charming building structure that blends perfectly with the traditional aesthetics of the old town. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Location-wise, it couldn’t be more perfect. Being situated right within Lijiang Old Town made it easy for us to explore the surroundings, enjoy local food, and soak in the culture without needing to travel far. The room itself was comfortable, clean, and surprisingly spacious, giving us plenty of room to relax—especially important when traveling with family. Everything was well-maintained, making our stay smooth and enjoyable. Overall, this hotel is absolutely worth staying at, particularly for families traveling with young children or infants. It offers the right balance of comfort, convenience, and hospitality that makes a trip even more special.

This guesthouse truly exceeded my expectations – a full five-star recommendation is a must! The owner is incredibly warm and thoughtful, always ready to answer any questions without being dismissive. The room is decorated in a cozy and atmospheric way, with attention to every soft furnishing detail, making it spotlessly clean and very comfortable to stay in. The biggest surprise was at night: with an open, unobstructed view, you can clearly see a sky full of stars right from your bed or the courtyard. The atmosphere was absolutely magical, perfect for stunning photos. The owner also thoughtfully recommended tons of authentic local eateries, helping us avoid tourist traps, and every single one tasted genuinely good. They even went out of their way to arrange full ancient-style makeup and styling for us, with professional accessories and hairstyles, so we didn't have to worry about a thing. Whether it was for sightseeing or daily needs, the owner proactively helped arrange everything, offering meticulous and attentive service. The value for money is outstanding; choosing this place for your stay here is definitely a decision you won't regret.

Definitely a 6 stars experience(if I could give a 6 stars even), it has been 3+ weeks since my Yunnan trip ended, wife and me still thinking about the stay with Meiloulanting. It was one of our best stay in china, if not the best. Service from Xiaode the person in charge is thoughtful and personal, his younger male staff is also very helpful in all our needs. Got tons of guidance and advice from Xiaode on where and what to eat(and even some discounts at selected eateries). This homestay has porter service to pick up(and drop off) your luggage from the entrance to Gucheng avoiding the lugging of your luggages over the super uneven cobblestones of Gucheng. Location is right smack middle of Gucheng, walking over to any spot in this area is super convenient. Walking out of the many exits of Gucheng do require some navigation from your gaode app, but nothing too complicated. 

The “Tea ceremony - Garden” room is exactly what we have seen on the photos. Room is clean and nice with a nice patio/courtyard where you can chill out a bit if that’s your thing. The already spacious room with that extension makes it very comfortable. Room has built in audio system to play music from your phone via BT accessible beside your bed, a very pleasant feature to chill out in your room after long day of touring. 

Outside the room, the hotel is a relatively compact but not cramp environment, nice pond water feature tallying with the more tea zen theme. Although we didnt use the facilities much due to schedule constraints, it certainly a nice feel and it checks out. If you booked this place, dont forget to visit the small rooftop overlooking Gucheng, it has a nice view of the jade dragon snow mountain and its mountain line, basically 360 view of the area do try during sunrise or sunset!

Hotel has a cute young cat at time of writing, do look out for it, although its roaming the city like us most of the time you might be lucky to see it and interact with it.

All in all, excellent place and insane price for the stay. Aesthetic meets quality meets service meets value - an unheard of combo. Wife and me will definitely revisit Meiloulanting if we ever go back Lijiang - WITHOUT A DOUBT.

The rooms looks quite old, there was some mold in the washroom top too, but apart from that, the ambience, environment, rooftop, services, washing and drying facilities, everything was top notch. If they restore the room conditions a bit better, then it's definitely a 5/5. The location was also quite close and walking distance to Lijiang Old town, and Shuhe old town was not far away. The owner helped me book Jude Dragon Snow Mountain day tour and also I trekked the Tiger leaping Gorge, and he helped me manage a seat for me in a shared van that took me to the starting point of the trekking area.

Excellent welcoming with free pickup at Railway station. The place is a bit difficult to find so the free pickup was very useful. Located in the old city with easy walking. The room was very clean except for some mould on the shower curtain. Privacy is a bit of a problem with one window to the outside with easy visibility into the room and one window facing inside also with easy visibility into the room. However, blackout curtains helped. The room was spacious but no fridge and wardrobe. Not a problem for us as we only stayed one day. No lift but hotel reception was great and help us with our bags and tips to get around.

First off, I have to give a huge shout-out to the handsome boss! He helped us drag our luggage from the ancient town entrance all the way to the inn, and did the same when we left. Otherwise, our arms would have been numb! I was pleasantly surprised to find out he speaks Cantonese, which instantly made us feel so much more at home. He was incredibly warm and attentive. This is truly the most charming and comfortable accommodation I've ever stayed in. So many details surpassed what you'd find in a five-star hotel, like the bathroom scale and mini-fridge. We were even reminded to take an umbrella before heading out, and the front desk had a cabinet stocked with various daily necessities – truly thoughtful. Funnily enough, it rained heavily on our second day in Lijiang, so we couldn't really explore much and ended up soaked and freezing. But when we got back to the inn, we saw two adorable big dogs lying right outside our room. They came over, nudged us, and played around us, instantly cheering us up. Suddenly, the day didn't seem so bad after all! ~( ´▽｀) Even though we only stayed for two nights, it was hard to leave. If we hadn't already planned our itinerary, I would have loved to spend an entire day just relaxing in the courtyard. While the room's soundproofing isn't amazing, the overall atmosphere makes it easy to fall asleep. It's truly a perfect place for a relaxing 'retirement-style' stay. In a nutshell, it's 'Píng Liàng Zhèng' – affordable, beautiful, and excellent! Wishing all the friends at the inn peace, joy, and a life free of worries.

I was on a business trip to Weishan Ancient Town for a few days and was attracted to this guesthouse by the pictures on its homepage. The reality was exactly the same as the pictures – very nice and full of ancient charm! The old wooden building with its arched doorways, the small pond in the courtyard with koi, and the many potted plants in the yard all showed how carefully they've been maintained! What impressed me most was the staff's attitude. They greeted me whenever I came or went, and even shared fruit and roasted tea – it felt as relaxed as visiting a friend's house! They also promptly helped resolve any small issues (superb!).
