"The hotel is next to a large living area industrial area. Remember that there is a Tesco supermarket next to it, which is within walking distance. The hotel room is quite large, the service staff is very polite, the security measures are good at night, there will be an access card. In general, friends who travel by car can choose. It takes about 50 minutes to reach Lake Windermere, with a choice of car."

"I'm originally from Kendal, but now live overseas. I stayed here to visit family locally and thought I'd treat myself to a nice hotel after not being back for several years. This place was NOT a treat. On checking in, the reception staff member asked me to pay for my stay (obviously I'd already prepaid on trip.com). When I pointed this out, she became quite rude. We were put in the room right next to the office, and we could hear the staff chatting at all hours. The noise in the corridor from other guests woke us up several times during the night (despite the ”Quiet” signage). There was a fire alarm at 6am the next morning. Everyone had to evacuate for a good 45 mins in the rain while we waited for the fire brigade...not even an offer of a free breakfast or coffee or anything afterwards. There's no air con in the rooms, they're really small, the bathroom is tiny and there's not a lot of room to put your stuff. The à la carte restaurant is overpriced and the food was under/overcooked (how can you not know how to cook a potato?). Personally I'd not recommend this hotel when there's a Premier Inn in town..."

"The Hotel and Staff were fantastic. A special mention to Natalie and Chad who went above and beyond during a crisis over water. They kept everyone fully informed about what was going on. If I could give a 20 out of 10, I would!!!!! Would i stay here again...yes most definitely. The rooms were big, clean and tidy. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. "The hotel, which I chose randomly, was a pleasant surprise beyond my expectations. It was truly ”small but exquisite.” Although I booked a basic room, it wasn't large, but it was very comfortable. The towel rack was heated, and there was air conditioning, which was another unexpected bonus."

"Facility appears okay but staff were not friendly and supportive. We left a football Jersey shirt in our room and was told it was not there when we called later in the day. Myself and my wife had food poison after eating breakfast on the day we checked out. The Jersey shirt could not have disappeared because I slept with it overnight before we checked out. As I said before, the facility looks new but the staff, even including the cleaners were not friendly. I am an IHG member and I use holiday inn hotels almost every where I travel to and I know how they treat their customers. However, this holiday in express in Barrow-in-Furness surprised me as the staff attitude did not meet the standard of others I have stayed in. I am not impressed."

"Booked in for 1 night to have a rest in some luxurious surroundings after a lot of travelling around the country visiting friends. Hunday Manor is a beautiful old house in a fantastic spot on the side of a hill with a great view. The hotel is very well appointed and the rooms are well looked after. The quality of the food for both an evening meal and the cooked-to-order breakfast was excellent. Perhaps the only facility I would add is a few overnight EV charge points in the car park. The service however was rather comical, starting with check-in. After confirming my name, 1 night stay, and printing out the reservation sheet, somehow the chap on reception muddled up my solo reservation with a couple arriving on the same day who were staying for a couple of weeks and gave me their room. After settling in for a much needed afternoon nap in the very comfortable bed and 'locking' the door on the inside, the rather startled couple walked in having been given a card for the same room. From that point on I never really managed to relax. I offered to move room when I went down for dinner later on, but the chap declined and mumbled something odd about the length of stay and seemed to point at the paperwork suggesting I had signed it making it my mistake! Sigh. Things didn't get a lot better in the restaurant. Myself and another solo traveller were given tables at the back (by the same chap), seemingly to keep us out the way of the couples who arrived later and were seated at the windows. When either of us asked questions about the menu there was lack of understanding about the dishes.. I was then asked around half a dozen times by multiple staff if everything was ok. Meanwhile I could hear one of the couples quitely chatting about their room, no doubt the room I was in. Upon trying to put the bill on my room, the same chap from earlier left me at the bar with a card machine asking whether I wanted to add a tip. At breakfast the next morning it continued. When I arrived the first breakfast room was full of tables needing clearing so I was given a table in the same area where I had dinner. This time given a table at the window but right in front of the only other guest, a lady already eating her breakfast. My table wasn't set so inexplicably the waiter clumsily took a second place-setting from her table while she was midway through eating! After dusting a few crumbs from one of the plates I enjoyed my breakfast. Towards the end of eating the staff were discussing how to rearrange the room for an event later in the day and started moving things around. After hearing the same couple from dinner asking to be told when their room was made available, cleaners were hanging around at the bottom of the stairs when I returned to the room. Nothing like a bit of a hurry up to finish breakfast and get out of your room to make you feel like a valued guest. Upon check-out an apology and a chat but by then the damage was done. No offer to comp a drink (or dinne)r after making a mess of things either. It's a lovely hotel that could offer a real 5-star experience, but the service ended up more like an episode of Fawlty Towers and needs a bit of a rethink. Next stop China."

"Had a lovely 2 night break away from 26th December and the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, gave local knowledge and recommendations on where to go walking… the breakfast was good value for money and caters for both vegetarians and vegans. There may not be onsite car parking but the recommended car parking made available at the local cricket club for only £2 per day is only 4 minutes walk away and convenient. Thank you also for all the communication before our stay, greatly appreciated 😊"

"Good location for heading to the lakes or mountains. This one you need to book your breakfast the night before due to high demand all you can eat for 10 pound not bad. Comfortable rooms warm and cozy annoying noises from other quests just above. The parking is available here just can be about cramped but managed to get a space. Beds super comfortable. The local town has allot of takeaways and pubs but you won't get taxis so expect a 50 minute walk or drive your car in."

"The only thing to complain is the waitress in the restaurant. She’s so arrogant, cold. She seems the only one to take orders at dinner and breakfast time . It’s very hard to put up with her. I only left 2 pound tip. That’s only for the courtesy. she doesn’t deserve the tip at all! We planned to stay in the same hotel on the way back from Scotland, but hesitate because of her bad service as it’s hard to avoid . It’s inconvenient to have meals outside the hotel. .., Plus the salad served with old whole leaves !!!
