"Hotel location central for visiting Harrogate tourist areas. Premier twin was adequate. Comfy beds had lovely cotton linen. Efficient and not too noisy aircon. Shower over bath was a surprise. Toiletries provided were lovely. Very small mugs and glasses. The receptionist was not very forthcoming in what she was doing. Very surprised to have to fill out all my details again and my friend in another another room had to provide her credit card for a room I'd paid for. There was confusion about payment and then our card did not unlock the door of the room we had been given. We were put in a quiet zone of the hotel, which was fine but we hadn't asked for. We did not eat or drink in the hotel. Efficient and reasonable parking. Lifts very busy in the morning."

Hotel near Clifton,York
A 10-minute walk from York Minster sits our home in this noble city. The remains of the Roman walls are close to the hotel making this treasure of a place to explore entirely walkable. History is everywhere and so is superb shopping dining and drinking. The building is a Grade II Listed Regency townhouse of extremely stately proportions and head-turningly good looks. Inside the high ceilings and original features are joined by the kind of things we like to share with our guests. Pantries stocked full of treats for the taking great restaurant food throughout the day delicious drinks from the bar a spa centered on bespoke therapies and a straight-from-the-heart welcome.

"A solid 3 star experience but not more than that. They say they offer bike courier pick up for your luggage from the train station, but I didn't get sent any information about how to book it, every time I tried to call I couldn't get through to a human, and when I eventually found an email address to contact about it, no one replied. We were put in a room on the very top floor right after the heat wave, the temperature up there was still so warm, could feel it going up in as we ascended the stairs, but I couldn't open the window in the room very much without bugs flying in. They provided a small fan but it didn't do much. Our room was cramped, not really anywhere to store your luggage and the bathroom's only surface space to put your things was a ledge above the toilet which I didn't like. On the other hand, all the people we spoke to at reception were friendly and helpful, the location was convenient and the pantry was appreciated."

"We enjoyed our stay, was a fabulous location with a car as only a short walk or drive to central cork. Staff, room and breakfast was lovely, our only critique was there was a wedding reception downstairs which was unfortunately VERY loud and didn’t finish until midnight. The staff were kind and apologetic, however unfortunately meant no sleep until the party was over."

"This hotel is housed in a centuries-old building, giving it a real sense of history. The hallways and rooms have a lovely, pleasant scent. Its location is excellent, right by the ancient city walls where you can go up for panoramic views. It's also within walking distance of attractions like York Minster and Shambles. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings, and there's plenty of space to lay out two large suitcases. The breakfast restaurant is located past the front desk, at the other end of the main building. You enter through a foyer and then need to go up a few steps and turn a corner to find it. The buffet breakfast offers a good variety and is of decent quality. Overall, the hotel's facilities, cleanliness, ambiance, and service are all very good. When we checked out, a staff member even operated the lift for us, so we didn't have to carry our luggage up a few steps."

"The hotel is a bit of a walk from the train station, but the location is still quite convenient. It's close to the river, making it easy to cross the bridge to the other side where you can find dining, shopping, and entertainment, all within walking distance. There's a supermarket nearby, and a restaurant with a terrace on the opposite side. Other than that, it's quite quiet. Overall, the place is pretty well-maintained."

"The room and hotel itself was great, but there were no instructions on how to order food to the room. The phone had no dial tone. A note on the phone said details to contact reception were accessible through the tv...no idea where!? There was no welcome sheet on how to make contact with reception, order food or restaurant/breakfast times etc. My case was also left out in reception from 11am when I initially checked in until checking back in at 11pm!! (I was told it would be stored safely until I returned) The reception was unmanned when I checked back in at 11pm with only my case left out alone in the lobby! (I did tell them I wouldn't be checking back in untill night!) Disappointed 😞"

"Overall a great stay, staff very attentive and friendly, executive breakfast good.....2 downsides..very firm mattress and no power points by bed......plus I also think charging guests £15 a night for parking is a bit naughty....I'd suggest £15 per stay for guests staying 2 nights or more...."

"The hotel is located in a great place, The aesthetic is perfect for the building. If you are disabled you may want to give this hotel a miss, as even if you specifically ask to be near a lift when you book they may put you in a room with no lift access at all, and the staff are not very helpful or accommodating even when you have a disability that is affected by stairs. The queue to check in was over 50 minutes even though we tried to check in much later than 3pm. The hotel has a lot of stairs, the room was not spotlessly clean but adequate and came with all the basic requirements. The view from the windows was great. Overall this is an ok budget hotel that is only suitable if you are able bodied and can deal with a large number of stairs."

The bar and restaurant is brewing and distilling theme which is a nod to the hotels heritage. We look forward to welcoming you very soon.

"Breakfast was okay, not a huge variety. The bedding and towels were clean. However, the room's floor felt slanted to one side, and even the bed frame and mattress were tilted. Since I was staying alone for just two days, I was too tired and lazy to bother switching rooms."

A small villa, the room is clean and tidy, very warm and quiet, the service is very good and warm, we live on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator, the suitcase is the store to help get the room, parking is also convenient. The environment of Zhou is good, and it is convenient to travel. It takes 20 minutes to walk along the river to see the tourist attractions in the downtown area. Only breakfast is very expensive. Two nights a day is a pleasant experience.

Not as bad as other reviews suggest, yes it could do with a refurb but it is well priced, friendly staff. Clean room and bathroom. Comfy beds . Amazing views overlooking north bay, ideal as a base to explore. Didn’t eat at the restaurant so cannot comment on food. Don’t be put off by other bad reviews.

Stayed one night because of the marathon the next day. The staffs were friendly and procedures like Checkin are convenient. Great location, close to the station and hotel. However, the inability of the air conditioner to heat up made the room less comfortable. But I stillI had a good rest here and set a PB in the race the next day, so it was a good stay overall.

The hotel is right by the city walls, and some rooms even offer views of them. The room was a bit small but very clean and tidy, and it even had a bathtub – perfect for a relaxing soak after exploring the old town. It's only a ten-minute walk to York Minster and The Shambles, and it's wonderfully peaceful to visit them in the mornings and evenings before the crowds arrive. The English breakfast was decent, and you can enjoy views of the old town from the dining area on the first floor.
