The most stunning thing about this hotel is the incredible view of Mount Fuji right from your window. Pulling back the curtains for the first time was truly breathtaking! I highly recommend waking up early and also checking it out in the afternoon, as it's pitch black at night and you can't see the mountain at all.
The service was excellent. The staff were proactive in helping us book restaurants, which was a huge convenience. The room size was quite spacious for a Japanese hotel, and the bedding and bathroom were spotlessly clean – very comfortable to stay in.
The onsen (hot spring) was generally decent; both the water quality and environment were clean. The outdoor bath (rotenburo) can get a bit windy, making your head feel a little cold. The hotel has a buffet restaurant, but the food options seemed pretty basic, so we didn't try it this time. Overall, it offers good value for money, and the Mount Fuji view alone makes it well worth the stay.
The Royal Hotel Kawaguchiko may be an older property, but it remains a comfortable and worthwhile stay. It features a relaxing onsen and offers rooms with beautiful views of Mount Fuji. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the lake, providing a lovely scenic setting and a great area for walks. Rooms are practical as well, with separate toilet and shower areas. Overall, it’s a pleasant and satisfying place to stay.
The hotel is located on top of a hill overlooking Mount Fuji and Lake Yamanaka. The views from the rooms and onsite onsens all have a view of Mount Fuji. It's honestly unbeatable.
Honestly cleanliness wise, -1 for it being just a little dusty floor (but you have slippers) and you may see the wood furnitures has some scratches due to age but otherwise you can expect a clean space 😁 location is about 10 min walk to bus station, Lawson and theme park. Has shuttle bus service to Fujikyu Highland Bus station & vice versa, so you don't need to go through other transportation hassle with your luggage.
Service is impeccable with all friendly smiles and attention whenever they see you at their main service centre in the property. Every villa has rooftop full Mt Fuji view but if you want window Fuji view from inside your villa that will see your luck as you may be blocked by other villas. Nevertheless would recommend staying here for any family or group of friends. Decent facility to stay in and not go anywhere in Kawaguchiko too.
Picture of rooftop view and around villa walkway.
Just stayed for one night to see Mt. Fuji and Iyashi no Sati. Wish we stayed for more! The location is great, very close to Kawaguchiko Station. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Room is very clean, has tatami, and also has futons (besides the beds). Our room is directly facing towards Mt. Fuji, but the neighbouring building blocked it so only the tip is visible. We went in winter so there weren't many flowers in the garden. But they have a specific spot within the resort to see Mt. Fuji clearly. There are also plenty of local restaurants and convenience stores within walking distance. Will definitely come here again!
Great stay! The room was spotless and very tidy, and the hot springs were incredibly relaxing – super satisfied. The staff were all really warm and proactive, and their English was good, which made communication easy. The location is super convenient too, right where the bus drops you off.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay and would happily give this hotel 5 stars!
From the very beginning, the staff were incredibly accommodating and responsive. They kindly arranged to pick us up from Gotemba Premium Outlets, which made everything so convenient for us.
After attending the beautiful Yamanakako Ice Lantern Festival, we made a last-minute request for dinner. Despite the short notice, they thoughtfully prepared a delicious shabu-shabu meal for us. They even gave us complimentary cookies because our moms were very hungry after the festival. It was such a sweet and caring gesture that we truly appreciated.
The hotel itself is spacious, clean, and wonderfully warm, making it the perfect place to relax after being out in the cold. We felt comfortable, cared for, and genuinely welcomed throughout our stay.
Highly recommended for their exceptional hospitality. We would definitely love to come back!
Our stay at this hotel in Yamanakako was absolutely wonderful. The location is stunning, surrounded by beautiful scenery and such a peaceful atmosphere. Everything was spotless and very well maintained. We stayed in a Japanese-style room, and it exceeded all of our highest expectations — spacious, comfortable, authentic, and truly special.
The breakfast was delicious and incredibly generous. There was so much food that it was difficult to finish everything! The grounds around the hotel are also beautifully arranged and cared for, creating a very relaxing environment. We also had dinner there, which was excellent and offered at a very reasonable price.
Yamanakako itself is much calmer and more peaceful than Kawaguchiko, so for us it was definitely the better choice. We highly recommend both the area and this hotel to anyone looking for a more relaxing stay near Mount Fuji.
The only possible downside for some travelers might be the limited transportation options, but for us it was not a problem at all. There is a bus that circles the lake, and we easily reached Oshino, Fujiyoshida, and Kawaguchiko.
In the evenings the town becomes wonderfully quiet, which was actually a huge advantage. After busy days in Tokyo, the silence and calmness here felt deeply relaxing.
The hotel staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. We would especially like to thank them because my husband accidentally left his insulin medication in the refrigerator in our room. We did not even realize it was missing. After finding it during cleaning, the staff contacted us immediately and literally drove to the bus stop just five minutes before our bus to Mishima arrived to hand us the medication personally.
We were truly touched by their kindness and care. This level of hospitality is rare and unforgettable. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again.
Amazing location for Families, right next to Fuji-Q highland, super convenient! Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, and we enjoyed the beautiful Mount Fuji view from our room. Love that the hotel connects directly to the Olsen with free entry for guests. Relaxing, comfortable, and great value. Will definitely stay again!
I really liked the hotel overall
1. The staff was very nice and knew some english so conversation was possible. Fast response times in chat is good service
2. Breakfast was really good
3. Location is very good, got bus stops around the hotel and you can use google maps to know which buses to take, when they come. I used suica card on apple wallet or on app on the scanner when boarding the bus to get around. The bus which is like 5 minutes walk can take you to lake kawaguchiko, gotemba premium outlets, and more. You also got lawson within 4 minutes walk which is a pretty cool convenience store that also has things like katsu sandwiches and cheeseburgers for snacks, ogino a grocery store within 6 min walk, and some other soup restaurants like udon and hoto noodles
4. Close to the lake pier which is great for biking around Lake Yamanaka which was probably my favorite part of visiting besides the local food it is what I would say life changingly beautiful
5. The onsen which is inside the hotel was very relaxing and nice, and you can put cold water into it if its too hot
Now i haven't been to other hotels around the area so I cant compare but I would definitely come again
