I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed every moment. The room was clean, spacious, and well designed, with a comfortable bed that ensured a good night’s sleep. The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help with any requests. I especially appreciated the smooth check-in process and the warm welcome upon arrival. The location was very convenient, close to shops, restaurants, and public transport. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. Overall, the hotel offered great value for money and exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend it to others.

The hotel environment is comfortable and quiet, overall clean and tidy, and the rooms are well-maintained, making for a very relaxing stay. The staff are friendly, and both check-in and check-out processes were smooth. The location is convenient; you can walk to Kek Lok Si Temple, which is great for visiting and taking photos. There are also many affordable snack options nearby, and transportation is very accessible, making it suitable for both short stays and longer trips. Overall, the stay was very satisfying.

Check in lobby was hard to locate as it was at the side of the hotel block. Upon check in, I was given third floor. When I asked if I could have higher floor as indicated in my booking request, staff said I need to top up. This was clearly upselling. I was not willing as the price for each room was not cheap in the first place. Staff knew that i was aware it was the bottom tier room & mentioned the freebis in the room was npt charged. I was not impressed as I do not come all the way to Penang for some freebies. Hptel staff obviously did not know what hospitality is all about.Entering the room, it was not too bad. When I opened the window, I almost flipped out. It was rubbish (attached a pic). I then confirmed I was given the bottom tier room. Opening the wardrobe, there was a musty oily smell which obviously was not aired for a while. Stay at room was not comfortable. Badly lit and no way to open window to rubbish view. I guess the only good thing was the shuttle to the various shopping/ eating spots. Upon check out, i was asked if stay was good. I indicated to the staff my stay at the hotel was disappointing due to the above reasons. Staff said i could email the hotel in advance in my next visit indicating the reason above. But I will like to tell the management this -- no way am i coming back to this hotel that only know to upsell & missing out on what true hospitality means. There are hotels out there that offer much better services without breaking the bank. Thanks but no thanks.

It was superb during our stay at Gurney Bay Hotel! Thanks to the team for preparing an anniversary cake and decoration for us. A thing to highlight that they have also prepared the baby cot as per requested before our arrival❤️ They also prepare a cute Christmas gift for us. Location: the hotel is near to those attraction with great food and 3D art museum. Also, there is a nice park just opposite the hotel. It is really a relaxing trip staying at this hotel and will definitely come back again!

The hotel is great, staff are impeccable in their attentiveness to the guest. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was absolutely outstanding, with an abundance of choices catered to satisfy every taste. The pool and gym are also fantastic, with the added convenience of being open 24/7, to put in an early morning workout. Spacious and very well equipped and maintained. However, our stay was not without faults and there are definitely some things management needs to address: - the noise from the elevator automatic announcements is absurd! the ”doors opening/closing” alerts are constant and audible from neighboring floors as well as your own.If you stay in a room numbered xx15 or xx16, be advised you will not have a pleasant time - we asked to change rooms immediately as soon as we realized this. - elevators can be SLOW, magma slow. it can take a long time to move around if you are staying in a higher floor. We stayed for 2 nights and during that period 2 separate elevators were down for maintenance. It took us a total of 15 minutes to move from one floor to the other, after getting our room changed (for reasons stated above) and new keycards. - the level from street noise audible in the room is just inadmissible at a supposed 5-star hotel level, at least in the rooms facing the main road. These rooms have, inexplicably, a single pane of glass and very tall windows, which makes soundproofing pretty much nonexistent - mat rempit bikes racing in the dead of night, the call to prayer blasting from the loudspeakers of the mosque nearby before 6am, drilling from the construction site nearby, and other nuisances that definitely disturbed my sleep.

The hotel is refurbished - rooms are modern; bed, pillows and the room slippers are very comfortable; toiletries are aplenty and smells really good. The breakfast buffet has a variety of spread, which is really nice. The only downside are the wellness facilities which have yet to be refurbished, including the tiny swimming pool.

Trip.com should have highlighted that on the day we checked in there was a fire drill! We could jot sleep or rest after our long drive to the hotel. Rooms very old and outdated. Bathroom was small, the bidet was on the wrong side of the toilet. Air-conditioning was not working! Maintenance had to chg the filter but still it was bad. Room slippers was the worst, rooms carpet was coming off the metal strip almost cut my feet. Breakfast and the staff was a plus, but overall very noisy the room, thet need to call the pest control, I think rats running in the vents!! Great free parking but you have to take a long drive back to the lobby, a huge turn around from the parking... bad experience overall.

We stayed in G Hotel Kelawai for 5 nights. The hotel is between two shopping malls - Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. Excellent location. Another hotel nearby (about 400m) is G Hotel Gurney. Both the hotels' guests are given the option to use each other's facilities and guests are given the flexibility to have their breakfast at either hotel without any advanced notice. By the way, G Hotel Gurney is the older hotel and is directly connected to Gurney Plaza, whereas G Hotel Kelawai is less crowded and quieter, which we liked. The breakfast variety is acceptable for guests who are on a short stay. Out of curiosity, we wanted to try out the breakfast at G Hotel Gurney but were prevented from doing so because of the heavy rain. Upon request, hotel guests can commute between the two by the hotels' buggy. The 25-m swimming pool and gym in Kelawai were hardly used. Clean and well-maintained rooms.

GGuest Userthis hotel is good overall, but when we arrived, they told us that we didn't have a booking with them and they couldn't locate our booking and details. the room was also said to be taken, and they are waiting for a cancellation in order to get our room. There is a lot of confusion among staff. some visitors were told to leave their rooms once they have entered. we waiting 1 hr 30 min to get our room. so check in was at 4.30pm. parking was also very inconvenient, as we had to park at the basement, which was impossible to even get one if you came into the hotel late and a T&G card was also needed to get validated before leaving the hotel if we wanted a free spot. Room was very spacious and clean. the tea and coffee was hard like its never been changed.

SSiferaThe hotel is more than 40 years old and the rumour is tjt a new management has taken over and a major renovation is about to happen in 2026. The only thing we really enjoyed was the view from the rooms overlooking the sea and the Penang bridge. We were here becuase we attended a wedding and wanted the convenience but the Banquet team did not provide us with the best service for the event area and we have sent a separate email to address that.

BBeckyproThe hotel's design is quite industrial. The front desk staff can mostly communicate in English. The room is a bit small and feels like it's cobbled together from different sections. However, it's fairly well-equipped. Breakfast: Limited selection. They have vegetarian sandwiches, noodles, coffee, and eggs. There's the Blue Mansion nearby, which you can visit for a fee. In the evening, there's a food court next door with a variety of food and drinks, definitely worth checking out.

YYeung92529You can tell this hotel is trying hard to brand itself as a luxury or upscale establishment, but it falls short on many details. From the design of the key cards, the meticulousness of room cleaning, and the breakfast quality, to the preparation of bath salts after turn-down service, the direction of the showerhead, and the inconsistency of bathroom amenity brands – all these aspects are far from luxury standards. Most notably, the staff training seems consciously biased towards Caucasian guests, which I won't comment further on. I believe if Raffles were truly managing this hotel, the standards would significantly improve. Beyond that, the hotel boasts an excellent location and offers a great sense of history. As for why so many celebrities visit this hotel, it's mainly because Penang genuinely lacks any other truly impressive hotels.

LLLMMYYThis is my second stay here and even though it’s more expensive to book during the peak season, I didn’t mind because I really enjoy staying here. The staff are always pleasant and welcoming, always greeted with a simple “hello” with a smile, which is rare at most hotels now. The sea view is magnificent as always, whether you admire it from your room or at the beach. I also really enjoyed their hotel breakfast buffet, and their Nasi Lema at the Jendela restaurant.

MMiaoMeowI found the hotel to be overall excellent and beautiful. The front desk and bellhop staff were quite enthusiastic, while others were just okay. The hotel facilities were also ample; for instance, since we arrived in the afternoon, the hotel allowed us to check in early. This meant I could easily take a nap on a sun lounger by the pool and even follow the sun to explore different parts of the hotel. The weather was great, and the ambiance was lovely. The hotel's location is fantastic, about a five-minute walk to the delicious Natsu. It was a shame that Bora Bora, right next to Natsu, was closed on Wednesday, so I missed out on the fire show, but the food was superb. The location is also a big plus for solo travelers wanting to go to the beach at night; I enjoyed a safe and peaceful time by myself. There were many breakfast options, but I felt the taste was pretty standard, nothing to write home about. My only minor complaint is that the shower head kept falling down and couldn't stay in place.

CCasreneDuring my booking, I requested a room away from the lift for a quieter stay and also asked for birthday decoration. However, upon arrival, there was no birthday decoration, and the room was located very close to the lift. The room was on a floor with shared facilities, and the room next door was the laundry room. The towels were dirty, and the shower hanger was damaged. I contacted the staff to raise these issues. They informed me that my requests were not recorded in their system. I requested a room change, but was told that the hotel was fully booked and no room change could be arranged. The staff were unable to resolve the issues during the peak season and advised guests to avoid staying during the eve or public holidays.
