I recently stayed at the Promenade Hotel Kota Kinabalu, and it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right in the city center, making it easy to walk to nearby restaurants, shopping malls, and the waterfront. It’s convenient whether you’re here for business or sightseeing.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The bed was cozy, the air-conditioning worked well, and the Wi-Fi was stable. I also appreciated the small touches like the coffee/tea facilities and a good-sized work desk. If you’re lucky to get a sea-view room, waking up to the South China Sea is definitely a bonus.
The hotel facilities are also great. The breakfast selection was good with plenty of choices, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The check-in process was smooth, and I felt well taken care of.
Overall, I had a very good stay at Promenade Hotel. It has great value for its location, comfort, and service. I would gladly choose this hotel again the next time I visit Kota Kinabalu.

The location is fantastic, very close to Jesselton Point,銘刻旅行社 (Mingke Travel Agency), Gaya Street, and Suria Sabah shopping mall. It's super convenient for shopping and island hopping.
The hotel itself is quite new, with a stylish design and layout, attracting a lot of younger guests.
Breakfast is excellent – plentiful, exquisite, and high-quality. You can even enjoy it on the outdoor terrace with direct sea views, which is a real bonus.
The pool isn't huge; it's a long, narrow shape, but you still get to enjoy the sea view from there.
My only minor complaints are that they don't provide complimentary bottled water that you can take out (only glass bottles for in-room use), and the lobby on the first floor is a bit small.

I have to say this is one of the best hotels that I have ever visited. The hotel room is dustless, very clean. The location is very strategic, less than 5 minutes walk to go to Todak waterfront to enjoy seafood, or another 5 minutes walk in opposite direction to go to Suria mall for shopping. The staff here are friendly and dedicated in their services. After checking in, the staff gave me a call to ask me whether I am happy with the condition of the room. The breakfast is awesome, many varieties and very tasty. I am a demanding person, but this hotel does not disappoint me. It should be a role model for other hotels to follow.

The front desk service was good, and they offered luggage storage.
The environment was nice, it had a bathtub, and it was relatively clean. However, the air conditioning was broken. I called the front desk, but the landline volume was so low and garbled I could barely hear them. After a long conversation, they said the AC unit was broken and I requested a room change. They said a room change wouldn't fix the AC either. They called a maintenance person who then said it would take an hour to fix. We had already checked in at 10:30 PM, so the hotel's attitude was basically, either you wait for me to fix it before you sleep, or don't bother fixing it at all...
Also, I must emphasize that this hotel requires a 100 MYR deposit!!! We had an early morning flight out of Kota Kinabalu the next day and didn't have enough cash on hand. We were forced to go out in the rain at 11 PM to an ATM at the bank across the street. The exchange rate was bad, and the fees were high; we were charged over 12 MYR in fees for 50 MYR, plus the 80-something MYR principal, it was almost 100 RMB.
I didn't take pictures of the room. P1: The instant noodles were delicious. P2: Undrinkable.

First time traveling to Malaysia, and I'm really happy with this hotel. The rooms are new, and the infinity pool on the 8th floor offers an amazing sunset view. Even though it rained and there were dark clouds, I was lucky enough to catch the evening glow. The hotel's BBQ buffet is incredibly good value, and the breakfast is abundant, featuring local specialty rice noodles. It's also very close to many popular spots in the city. I'll definitely choose Marriott again for my next trip.

Had a pleasant stay for a short business trip. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Amenities were complete, especially the gym which was convenient and clean. Location is also strategic with easy access to nearby restaurants and conveniences. Overall, a comfortable and hassle-free experience. Would definitely consider staying here again for future work trips.

Our small family decided to have a staycation in few hotel/resort and by far Sutera has won our heart. This place is amazing and i suggest anybody who wants to experience this place to stay more than 1Night. The room is still in its Vintage style , tv only has those old channel , there's one bathtub in the room which we loved specially my son,for the breakfast i do believe they can add more choices as they are more korean dishes focused, it'll be nice to have local kuih (hinompuka/pais pisang) other than kuih pisang only.. But other than that, you actually get free 1hour of bike rental on ur stay which we only know when we ask around, it was located right in front of the kids pool , other than that they do have a small train going around from Magellan to Pacific sutera and its FOC!!! I loved the staff energy the entire time, he asked our son to be in his seat as a driver and even let my son press few button and act like he's driving the train!! god bless your fun soul sir!! keep up the good work!! we will definitely be back again soon🥰❣️

The hotel is located at a prime location in the city centre of KK. I’ve booked a room with sea view and it’s the best seaview I’ve ever seen. The morning buffet has a lot of varieties and things are pretty good. The staffs also very friendly with fantastic customer service.

Very nice view but it’s hard if you wish to find food outside since you have to grab out. Food delivery is not allowed. The food options are good but of course it’s for the price that you pay. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

MM48712****This is a very old hotel currently undergoing renovations, which wasn't indicated on Trip.com. This was quite disappointing, especially considering how expensive it was. The hotel likely has 500-600 rooms, and the soundproofing is very poor; you can hear people walking upstairs or in the hallway on the same floor. It's suitable for families, and a 2-night stay is probably enough. The hotel service is five-star. Breakfast, however, was unappetizing and lacked character, and the dining area was very crowded. The adult pool isn't large, but the kids' pool has many fun features for children. The hotel's island hopping and water activities are extremely well-designed and prioritize safety, meeting five-star standards.
EElizabeth Ong Hui LingService is excellent. Staff do not hesitate to help, always address travellers politely, and take the initiative to serve water, give suggestions, overall making your experience smooth and fulfilling.
Food is also very delicious — other reviews say the food is pricey, but I think it’s quite affordable and well worth the price.
Rooms are large, comfortable and well-furnished.
Will definitely be back!
AAnonymous UserBooked for romantic tent, same like the ad. Looks like a brand new tent, because the colour is still white compared to the others which is already yellowish and got a bit mould. Romantic tent have no shade, so the light shines through into the tent. Even so, the tent doesn't feel hot, the portable aircond keeps it cool inside. asked for keetle from the receptionist. need to ask for keys for private bathroom as they are having renovation during our stay.
KKenneth Chong WTI've been coming back to Cititel Express KK over and over again. The rooms are nicely appointed and love that you can cast your devices on the Smart TV. Amenities are adequately provided and staff are always welcoming and friendly. Welcome seafood is just a stone's throw away so it Borenos Fried Chicken. 2 must try in KK.

Great
GGuest UserHotel is a little off from city centre, hotel providing shuttle bus but still a hassle to spend hours on road.
hotel is a perfect place to spend days with family and just chill. there are plenty of activities planned for kids to keep them busy. Discovery center and Water sports center provides activities with charges.
Due to the fact of by the beach, to maintain a perfect cleaniless is a challenge but hotel has done it well, very comfortable to stay in the room.
The staffs hospitality is what we like the most here, they are really friendly and usually initiate conversation with the guests.
MMarylyn KellySuch beautiful memories made here. The place is truly unique, and I loved every moment of my stay. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious. Definitely a great choice for anyone traveling with family or someone special. Highly recommended! Hopefully I can stay here again.

Positive Points:
1. Air-conditioning was very effective and kept the room comfortable throughout the stay.
2. Great window view – beautiful sea and jetty scenery that adds to the relaxing atmosphere. (see my attached picture)
3. Excellent location – conveniently close to eateries and the jetty, making it easy to get around.
4. Reasonably priced in-house food – offers good value for money for guests who prefer to dine in.
5. Complimentary extra bottled water was provided upon request, which was appreciated.
6. Friendly and helpful staff across all departments – from housekeeping, café, and maintenance to the front desk. Everyone was courteous and attentive.
7. Special mention to the chef – a very kind and gentlemanly person. On our first day, we ordered 6 fried eggs for breakfast, assuming they were included. The chef initially didn’t inform us of the RM2 charge per egg and kindly did not charge us for them. When we later tried to order again, he politely informed us about the charge. We truly appreciated his honesty and kind gesture.
8. very nice grilled meat at the roof cafe (5th floor). The promo price is 5 sticks for rm9.9 . worth to eat!
---
Areas for Improvement:
1. Limited breakfast buffet selection – mainly local dishes such as chicken, eggs, vegetables, rice, or noodles. While the food was tasty, there were no options like fresh milk, cereal, or egg station. Fruit choices were also limited to just bananas every day.
2. Window leakage during heavy rain – rainwater entered the room. However, the staff responded promptly and mopped the floor immediately.
3. No robe hooks in the bathroom – makes it inconvenient to hang clothes or towels.
4. Shortage of bath towels – clean towels were only available in the late afternoon after laundry was returned.
5. Extra blanket charge – an additional around rm50-60 was required if requesting one more blanket, which felt a bit expensive.
6. Low water pressure in the shower – the water flow was quite weak, making the shower experience less enjoyable.
7. Housekeeping quality needs improvement – there was sand in the room, and although we informed the staff, it was not cleaned properly even after the feedback.
Extra Tip for Travellers:
There’s no laundry shop in Semporna town, so do remember to bring enough clothes for your stay.
LLimThe only reason I stayed here was because of it location near to the airport. Everything else is good in terms of experience except I was imposed with liability costing RM10 for soiling one piece of their towel. The soiling happened because I walked outside after the rain and my foot got into a mud spot. I came back to my room and I accidentally stepped on the towel. Bear in mind, I had to book their largest room meant for 4 pax because that was the only one available even though I stayed alone. Considering the occupancy is low for that large room, soiling one piece of towel does not justify a RM10 liability damage.
