Celebrating Chinese New Year in Greece
The best gift is companionship, this is the second travel note with parents. This time the scale is larger, not only with my own parents, but also with my girlfriend (nickname Little Aunt, my old travel partner) and her parents. The whole trip cost less than CNY13000 per person, this time I can finally keep accounts myself.
Actually, when booking the tickets, I never thought that winter in Greece is a rainy season. I was absent-minded, thinking isn't this the southern part of Europe? After booking, I found out it's a rainy season, but since we're here, we might as well enjoy it. There are ways to enjoy the off-season. In the end, I was under the halo of the little sun, feeling the sunshine of Santorini and Athens.
This article recommends excellent shooting points in Santorini and detailed locations, as well as Greek bloody myths and interspersed Athens attractions. I'll write slowly, you read slowly.
Thanks to mom and dad, they cooperated all the way, worthy of always following me on free trips. Thanks to Little Aunt, after all, she is an old partner, a super good travel partner. Thanks to Dad Lu, following the old master, I learned a little more about photography. Thanks to Mom Lu, the main chef, the mashed potatoes are top-notch.
Santorini's winter also has sunny days
Santorini's sunset and sunrise
Ia is beautiful no matter how you shoot it
National Geographic magazine's shooting location
Six people walking
Mom and dad watching the sea at Perissa Beach, the same action as last time in Taiwan
Wine tasting at the Santorini winery
And the real people on the island, the ubiquitous Meow Star people
Poseidon's Temple in Sounion, another good sunset
Two groups of mom and dad together
National Archaeological Museum of Athens, definitely worth a day's visit
Recommended photo spots in Santorini (detailed location)
The biggest advantage of traveling in winter is that there are fewer people, but the disadvantage is that the weather is cold and rainy, but this time I was lucky. In Santorini, for a total of four whole days, only the afternoon of the arrival day was rainy. The rest of the weather was not bad, one of which was a completely sunny day. Santorini under the blue sky and Santorini on a cloudy day are not the same place at all. As long as there is sun, Santorini is a place where you can take beautiful pictures at will.
The good photo spots are basically concentrated in Oia, in addition to the blue dome church in Firostefani that became popular because of National Geographic magazine. In fact, there are many large and small blue dome churches on Santorini.
Sunset viewing platform
Oia on Santorini is definitely the best place to watch the sunset. Recommend two places for sunrise
Byzantine Castle Ruins
GPS:36.460110,25.372734
This is the viewing platform very close to our homestay (the accommodation will be talked about later), not only the sunset is beautiful, but the sunrise is also highly recommended. But it is recommended to live next to this, otherwise you have to catch the last bus in winter, and there is no hope for watching the sunrise in the morning
The sunrise, sunset and scenery shot from the perspective of the viewing platform
The castle seen from the cafe, the location is really good
On the castle
A photographer who is dressed strangely early in the morning (it's really cold in the morning and evening)
Oia’s sunset
Oia's sunset (there is no specific building, refer to GPS for specific location)
GPS:36.461819,25.375311
The sunset here can be shot with three blue domes as the background. This place is relatively close to the bus station in Oia. This place itself is also a good place for portrait shooting.
It's a pity that the weather was not good that day.
Peter North broke in behind a few days during the day and went again, a dog with a super sense of lens, the last day to watch the sunrise also came to get close to me

Acropolis Athens 🗺️
#timetotravel
My visit to the Acropolis of Athens was a pilgrimage into history and marvel. Perched above the city, this iconic site with its monumental ruins and timeless architecture was a humbling experience. Standing before the Parthenon, I could almost feel the echoes of ancient Athenian life. The Erechtheion's Caryatids exuded grace, while the Propylaea's grand entrance marked the gateway to antiquity. The sweeping views of Athens below were breathtaking, revealing a city that has evolved through the ages. The Acropolis' central location and its usually extended visiting hours allowed me to immerse myself in its stories both day and night. The Acropolis of Athens isn't just an archaeological site; it's a testament to human achievement, artistry, and the enduring legacy of ancient Greece.

The cathedral of Athens
#greece #greekfood #greece
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, known as the Metropolis, is the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Athens, which has been under restoration and since 2017 has opened its doors to the public. Construction of the cathedral began on Christmas Day 1842 with the laying of the cornerstone by King Otto and Queen Amalia. Behind Metropolis is the church of Agios Eleftherios, known as the Little Metropolis.
The seat of the Archbishop of Athens and leader of the Church of Greece. Designed by distingueshed architect Theophil Hansen, it combines the traditional byzantine cross-in-square with Hansen western sensibilities resulting in probably the most influential church design in Greece.

🇬🇷 the temple of Souvlaki
The sovlaki here is wonderful. Like the guy from the shop told us "welcome to the temple of Sovlaki". Bravo !👏🏻👏🏼👏🏽
A simple place where you can eat only a few things. But as it is usually the case, these few things are great, if you get into the feeling.
Try a few pieces of the traditional Greek pork souvlaki or some pieces of soutzoukakia in case you don't like pork.

Magnificent Pantheon
The temple known as the Parthenon was built on the Acropolis of Athens between 447 and 438 B.CE. It was part of a vast building program masterminded by the Athenian statesman Perikles. Inside the temple stood a colossal statue representing Athena, patron goddess of the city.
The statue, which no longer exists, was made of gold and ivory and was the work of the celebrated sculptor Pheidias.

Greek food with a view
Bouzuaki is a corner restaurant that can be found down near the site of the Acropolis and the main square.
When I went on a Saturday evening, it wasn’t too busy but they were preparing for a live band! I had a delicious chicken fillet and they were kind enough to let me swap the rice for potatoes which was very nice of them. The views from the side of the building onto the ancient sides of Greece, coupled with the nice food, make it a must visit! #mytripvlog #foodie #urbanexplorer

Breakfast at the Sky Bar
The Sky Bar can be found at the top of the Fresh Hotel in central Athens.
It offers some fantastic views of the city including the famous Acropolis and some of the other part of the city. The breakfast I got was buffet style (which explains the weird combination of food) with items available to order from the menu too. Even when it was very hot, they have most fans blowing in to keep everyone cool

Just Made 🇬🇷
Just Made is a little bar & restaurant that is not far from the Acropolis site in central Athens.
They have a nice seating area outside and a smaller one inside and offers a range of drinks and healthy food. I opted for a chicken breast dish that was tasty and filling but they also had a range of homemade pastries as well as takeaway cocktails and coffees which seemed to be popular #mytripvlog #foodie #urbanexplorer

Lovely Greek food
Il Greco is a lovely little restaurant that we stumbled across in central Athens, near the Acropolis.
From the minute we entered, the staff were very lovely to us, joking with us and making us feel very welcomed. We had desserts this time but they do have an extensive range of food which includes savoury food and good coffee selections too. The location of the restaurant makes it a sensible place to visit before or after the Acropolis #urbanexplorer #mytripvlog

Acropolis museum 🇬🇷
The Acropolis museum is very close to the site of the Acropolis attraction. Set over 4 floors, it gives visitors lots of information about the history of the site as well as some of the most important statues which have been taken inside.
The museum has glass flooring so that you can see down into the excavation site which gives it a very unique feel and vibe. On the top floor, there is a cinematic experience too #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer

The Magnificent Cemetery of Kerameikos
When visiting Athens I made sure to visit the Ancient Cemetery of Kerameikos located near the city centre of Athens and Hadrian’s Library, both locations are part of the Athens pass and is something I would advise purchasing when visiting Athens!
The site itself holds a museum you gain access to holding various sculptures and other artefacts from the Cemetery. As shown in the pictures you can see the style of gravestones utilised which in contrast to old cemeteries in the United Kingdom are completely unique.
When walking around the site you’re able to get a great view of a classic holy site located near by as well as why stands of various old buildings that surrounded the cemetery. The sizes of the houses vary and allows you to gain an idea of the architecture used as well as vision the house in all it’s originally glory.
The day I visited the cemetery of Kerameikos it was a picturesque sunny day in Athens that made the visit extra special and a personal highlight of my trip to Athens due to how underestimated the site is.
I would definitely recommend visiting!

Zappeion Hall & Park, Athens Hidden Gems
Photos from my experience visiting the Zappeion Hall in Athens! The surrounding area is fantastic full of diverse trees, flowers and wildlife. During my visit I particularly enjoyed visiting the Fish and Turtle ponds located towards the back of the Zappeion Hall. The ponds are beautiful and allow you to catch a breathe and relax especially if you manage to find a seat on a nearby bench.
The Zappeion Hall is huge in stature with gigantic columns covering the entrance, inside you’re met with architecture that has been perceived very well and remains in great condition. In conclusion I would recommend anyone in Athens to visit the Zappeion Hall and especially the surrounding parks to get a nice change of scenery and pace.
