Satay Lovers Rejoice! Juciest Satay at Penang Golf Club
#traveldiaries
Located within the Penang Golf Club at Bukit Jambul, Sakurajima offers an impressive menu featuring local favorites, Japanese, and Chinese dishes. I love the stay here; they have the juiciest steaks in Penang! The attentive staff provide exceptional service, enhancing the dining experience.
Generous portion sizes and fresh ingredients make every meal satisfying, whether you’re enjoying ramen, sushi, or stir fries. My family and I really love the satay here. It's perfect for kids as there's no need to worry about spice—peanut sauce and sambal are served separately. Being halal also makes it accessible to all. Overall, Sakurajima is a must-visit for great food in a lovely setting.

Penang, Malaysia, is a must-stay destination for couples on vacation – the hotels are incredibly photogenic!
In Malaysia, there is a city that seems not to be part of Malaysia, but rather somewhere in China. Yet, it is indeed in Malaysia, and not a piece of the mainland that drifted over from the sea; it boasts the best food in the country, much of which has been influenced by Chinese cuisine; it has a unique ability to stop time, preserving the moments of the years right there. That city is Penang. Besides its culinary delights, it is also perfect for a romantic getaway. Today, I'm going to share three hotels that are great for photography and ideal for couples!
👍 Highly recommended:
Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang Average price 1000-1500, stunning environment – excellent service, facilities, hygiene, and soundproofing! In Batu Ferringhi, Penang, there are two Shangri-La hotels next to each other, and I recommend the Rasa Sayang Shangri-La more. At Rasa Sayang Shangri-La, there are the Garden Wing and the Rasa Wing, and guests staying in suites and the Rasa Wing not only enjoy daily afternoon tea and cocktail hours in the lounge, but also have access to unlimited soft drinks and fruits at all hotel pools from 9 am to 5 pm – which is why choosing a good hotel is essential for a vacation. Even if it's a bit pricier, it's worth it! The hotel has an excellent ecological environment; I really love Penang!
👍 Highly recommended:
ParkRoyal Penang Resort Average price 550-1000, good environment, service, hygiene, soundproofing, and views! On the beach of Batu Ferringhi, Penang – the ParkRoyal resort, part of the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, is also very beautiful! It's very suitable for a couple's vacation. ParkRoyal, like Anantara, Kempinski, The Nai Harn, Capella, Sukhothai, is part of GHA Discover, so there are related membership benefits! A lazy afternoon – holiday time in Penang is so comfortable! After spending three months on vacation in Thailand, I thought I would be tired of the sea when I came to Malaysia. But surprisingly, even though there are quite a few guests in the hotel, it still feels very cozy, quiet, and comfortable, with a completely different vacation atmosphere from Thailand. A romantic seaside dinner in the evening, with the sunset and twilight so beautiful it's intoxicating!
👍 Highly recommended:
Amari Penang Average price 600-1200, a new hotel with great facilities! Apart from the seaside – there are also good options in the city area of Penang! The Amari Penang, which just opened at the end of 2022, has a simple style, bright colors, and great window views – I quite like it! The executive lounge at Amari Penang is also very nice! Penang is the most artistic place in Malaysia in my eyes, where you can enjoy the fusion of Chinese and Western cuisine in Penang, and have a perfect trip away from the crowds. Malaysia's vacation paradise – a city famous for its food, with a diverse architectural culture that reveals the essence of Chinese architecture, the perfect combination of local Penang features and Western architectural culture – unique and impressive!
Hearty Taiwanese Cuisine in Penang 🇲🇾
#winhkflight
📍Taiwanese Palace, Bayan Lepas, Penang
We had a wonderful meal here in Taiwanese Palace Penang and it is now my favourite go to place whenever I’m craving for Taiwanese cuisine. The restaurant is spacious, with ample seatings and tables and it is air conditioned. There is always a long queue of hungry patrons at the store front, and we were lucky for not having to queue on a weekday night! They serve a wide array of Taiwanese cuisine like fried chicken chop/popcorn rice, Taiwan-style crepe with meat floss and egg filling, noodles. The food was served pretty quickly, with generous portion and served warm. I really love the popcorn chicken set, where chicken was marinated well, deep fried nicely with a layer of golden crisp coating the chicken! Love the milk tea as well! Lovely place to dine in, would recommend!
I wish to travel to Hong Kong for the food!

Amazing Snake Temple in Penang
#wheretogo
The Snake Temple is one of Penang’s outstanding tourist attractions, this Chinese temple situated in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Bayan Lepas Industrial Park, Bayan Lepas, Penang.
The Snake Temple was built in 1805 for the worship of the deity Chor Soo Kong, the temple is reknown with its reside snakes(poisonous Wagler's Pit Vipers), the snakes have been de-venomed for safety precautions.
When I visited the temple, several snakes were peaceful coiled around the stands on the altar. There also have some snakes residing on the branches at the garden.
It was truly an amazing experience of the visit. The temple opening hours are usually 9am to 5.30pm daily and there is no admission fee.

We're always looking for good and wallet-friendly Japanese restaurants around the vicinity of Bayan Lepas. And boy, were we thrilled when we found Harajuku Japanese restaurant!
The price may look steep at first, but when the food arrives, you'll come to realize that the portion is big and very much worth the price!
What we loved from the menu was the Zaru Soba and Tonkatsu Curry Don. Also, the Chawanmushi was very flavourful, the dashi stock was amazing!
If you have kids, order at least one kids meal and get a free spin at the gacha machine!

🇻🇳 Authentic Vietnamese Food @ an viet
#myfoodies
Address:
LG-42, Queensbay Mall, 100, Persiaran Bayan Indah, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang
Finally, we found a good Vietnamese restaurant in Bayan Lepas area! Since visiting Hanoi back in 2019, we've been craving for good, authentic Vietnamese meal but there's not much choices available here.
When this restaurant opened at Queensbay Mall, we knew we had to give it a try. We love that we get to choose how much rice or noodles we want, and we can also take our own toppings - a great initiative on lessening food wastage! 👍
Our personal favorite was the Beef Pho and Lemongrass Chicken Salad. As for drinks, do order Egg Coffee! Tastes just as good as back in Vietnam!
They also have really good deals for set lunch, so be sure to check them out! Refer to the last image for Set Lunch menu and pricing.

Kaze is located at The Promenade, and is one of the best Japanese restaurant in the Bayan Lepas vicinity. They have another branch as well, located at Icon City, Bukit Mertajam.
The restaurant serves really fresh and good Japanese food, and they have lots of variety to choose from too!
The chirashi bowl I had was super fresh, and I didn't even need soy sauce to mask any smell. And the unagi was perfect and melts in your mouth!
Suitable for big crowds and hangouts with friends and family!

Penang Snake 🐍 Temple Adventure!
Penang Snake Temple is a unique marvel that I had the privilege to explore. It was a truly awesome experience that left me in awe of nature's wonders and cultural diversity.
Upon arriving at the temple, I was immediately struck by its tranquil ambiance. The scent of incense wafted through the air as I entered the temple's courtyard. The temple's architecture was a sight to behold, with intricate details and vibrant colors adorning every corner.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the temple's resident snakes. Inside, I encountered a mesmerizing collection of slithering creatures, including pit vipers and cobras. These snakes were not kept in cages but instead roamed freely within the temple. It was both thrilling and eerie to see them coiled around the temple's statues and altars.
The temple's caretakers, known as "snake charmers," were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work. They explained the significance of the snakes in the temple's history and their role in the local culture. I learned that these snakes were considered sacred and believed to be protectors of the temple.
As I wandered through the temple, I couldn't help but marvel at the harmony between humans and these creatures. Visitors, including myself, were allowed to touch and interact with the snakes under the watchful eyes of the snake charmers. It was a surreal experience, feeling the cool, scaly texture of a snake's skin and witnessing their calm demeanor up close.
Outside the temple, the surrounding gardens provided a serene escape. Lush greenery and exotic plants created a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for reflection and contemplation. I sat in the temple's garden, appreciating the cultural richness and the beauty of nature converging in this unique place.
My visit to the Penang Snake Temple was truly unforgettable. It offered a captivating blend of spirituality, nature, and culture that left a lasting impression on me. The temple's serene ambiance, coupled with the mesmerizing presence of the snakes, made it an awesome experience that I will cherish forever.

🥐 Cafe Hoppin': Ginza Pastry Cafe
#mymymemories
Address:
35-1-22, GOLDEN TRIANGLE, 2, Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim, Sungai Ara, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Penang
A new Pastry Cafe just popped up in the sunny island of Penang Island, and it's called Ginza! The shop was open for their Soft Launch last week and it was packed!
Their signature is the Steamed Bun and Shokupan, but sadly the Shokupan wasn't available yet when we were there. But you will still be spoilt with choices! There were gorgeous cakes, sandwiches, croissants and more - so many pastries to select from!
We were blown away by the simple yet classy interior of Ginza. This may very well be our new favorite cafe!

🥟 Xiao Long Baos @ Dragon-i
#mymymemories
Before Din Tai Fung came into the food scene in Penang, the locals here would flock to Dragon-i to enjoy Xiao Long Bao! They have two branches in Penang - Queensbay Mall and Gurney Plaza.
The quality over the years have downgraded slightly (the chicken we ordered had a foul odour, but to their credit, they removed it from our bill). However, it's still the place to go to for a fancy chinese restaurant meal. Even children will love their dishes here, especially the fried rice!
But of course, the Xiao Long Baos are still not to be missed if you're there!

Mr. Wu is a new restaurant located at Arena Curve, Bayan Lepas. The interior is simple, and it has two levels to cater to the big crowd.
The highlight for us was the Oyster Mee Sua! Just look at how big and juicy the oysters were! They were fresh as well, at only RM17.90!
If you're not a big eater, we recomnend to get ala carte items as their bento sets can be a bit big (but very worth the price!). And be sure to come early because there can be a queue, especially during lunch hours!

🥗 Lunch Buffet @ Amaya Food Gallery Penang
#mymymemories
Amaya Food Gallery at Amari SPICE Penang started serving lunch buffets and I thought it'd be a great chance for us to try it out! As of posting (Aug 2023), the lunch buffet is priced at RM98 per person, and RM68 for child or senior citizen.
The theme for today's buffet was "Melting Pot", and it featured local dishes, along with some thai dishes as well. The crowd favorite (my family 🤣) was the Chicken 65 - juicy and succulent, and very fragrant from the spices! My parents specifically loved the fried bihun! There was also ice cream potong available for dessert!
The buffet was a little lacking in terms of choices, but we are hopeful as they are slowly growing in number of patrons! It was still a good lunch, nevertheless!

⭐️ Delectable Dishes at Queens Hall
#mymymemories
Dining options may be aplenty at Queensbay Mall, but if you're looking for something (slightly more) economical and also delicious, the Queens Hall food court is definitely the place to go to! You'll be spoilt with choices!
The crowd favorite is of course the Uncle Kin Chilli Pan Mee! Don't let the queue deter you, it moves really fast! They serve 3 types of pan mee: soup, dry and dry with chilli. If you can't take spicy, take the dry pan mee and add in a little bit of the chilli flakes!
What about OUR recommendation? The Chicken Hor Fun stall serves really good chicken rice! Fragrant rice and velvety chicken, it's all you can ask for in a chicken rice 🍚
What's your favorite stall?

#mymymemories
Address:
72-1-29, Arena Curve, Jalan Mahsuri, Bandar Sunway Tunas, 11950 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang
Plant A Seed is a vegan restaurant, and many locals may know them as Sushi Kitchen! It is now bought over by a new establishment and they gave rebranded themselves. You'll be happy to hear that the food (and quality) maintained the same, and they even added extra pages to their menu!
Their food has no MSG, absolutely hearty and they make even the most carnivorous person fall in love with vegan food (aka my husband)!
Whenever we come by, we will definitely order their Kinoko Fried Rice and Mango Sushi. These two are our highly recommended items from their menu. If you're a first timer, try these!
This time though, I ordered their Triple Inari Sushi, and Volcano Spicy Noodle! Don't be afraid of the name, you can adjust the level of spice to your liking.
The staff was extremely attentive and happy, we felt warm as we dine here!
