If you come to Milan, Italy, be sure to leave a day for Lake Como!
Como is the most famous lake in northern Italy, a common saying among the locals is: those who have vacationed at Lake Como are the ones who truly understand life. Lake Como is near the Alps, so in addition to the beautiful lake view, there is also a magnificent feeling~.
If you come to I sincerely recommend a day trip to Como. It takes an hour by train from Milan, and there are many beautiful small towns scattered around the lake. The scenery is very stunning, many locals come here for the weekend, wearing swimsuits and jumping directly into the blue lake water, super decompression!
Route: Milan Central Railway Station-Veranna Town (1.5 hours)- Bellagio (15 minutes by boat)-Como Town (1 hour by boat)-Return to Milan (1 hour)
Travel Guide Cable Car on the Mountain Top
You can see the distant Alps and the nearby Lake Como, round-trip ticket is 6.6 euros, every fifteen minutes, 5 minutes to the top of the mountain.
Lake Tour Boat
About an hour, will stay in the surrounding towns, you can sightsee on the boat without getting off, 8.9 euros per person
Cathedral
Classic Gothic architecture, free to visit, no tickets required, but the toilet charges, if you can't accept it, you can go to a coffee shop or bar for a free use
Veranna: There are many boats from Veranna to Bellagio, but they are not direct, you have to go to Menaggio first, there is a castle on the top of the mountain in Veranna, but you have to climb the mountain by yourself, if you really don't want to walk, it's also very comfortable to walk by the lake
Bellagio: Compared to Veranna, I like it here more, although the place is very small, but there are all kinds of exquisite small shops everywhere, the alleys in the sun are like with filters, various colors of walls, taking pictures and so on are really beautiful, addicted in a second~

Paradise found!😍
Bellagio, Italy 🇮🇹
☝️Currently one of the hottest tourist destinations in Italy this summer! ☑️
Lago di Como or Lake Como, Bellagio is one of the most beautiful lakes I’ve ever seen in person. Pictures don’t even do justice. It really does look like a paradise. 😍
It’s quite the challenge to get to Bellagio. If you’re doing just a whole day trip, you might reconsider staying the night at a hotel nearby or around Lake Como.
🏨Hotels around Bellagio are quite pricey but it’s worth the stay since you will have more time to explore the place.
⚠️ Please note that it can get really crowded during the peek hours so it’s recommended to see the view early in the morning.
How to get there? 🤔
📍From Milan Central station, take regional train to Varena-Esiro station. 🚂
Then, walk about 10 minutes to ferry port Navigazione Lago di Como, take ferry to Bellagio which is about an hour. ⛴️
📝option: 🚌 You can take the long distance bus which is quite near the ferry station. The travel time is approximately 2 hours, but it is cheaper than the ferry and the view along the way is amazing. 🤩
A trip to Bellagio is absolutely worthwhile!🫶🏻

You can also spot houses owned by Holywood super stars. The lake is quite big and you can rent boats or you can drive on the road that surrounds the lake. Lake Como | God's backyard, too beautiful and healing!
Lake Como in Italy is the "heavenly garden left on earth by God".
Surrounded by many beautiful and tranquil garden villas.
Every scene is like a movie frame, full of atmosphere.
When you see it with your own eyes, you will find that the real scenery is even more beautiful than the photos. Walking among the flowers, trees, lake and mountains, the mist lingers as if entering a dream that is too beautiful to be true.
When the mind and body are completely relaxed, walking and strolling are extremely enjoyable. Every day, I hope life can be slower, even slower, because the earthly paradise is like this!
If we could have our wedding here, it would be so romantic.
Of course, staying for a while on a honeymoon is the perfect choice.

Very service minded reception. Nice touch that room calls are answered with the name of the guest. Accommodating and friendly. Offered a complimentary drink when room service took longer than expected (last evening before restaurant closing due to Covid restrictions). Superb breakfast!Very friendly staff, greeted with a glass of prosecco, check in was easy and quick and very helpful staff. Room was very spacious, very clean, stylish, we had a corner room with a city view. It was quiet and the bed was very comfortable and big. Enjoyed our stay.Excellent attention to detail and a high level of care from all staff from the moment of arrival
Super clean and stylish rooms
Extra touches to make the stay special
Great location
There are few places as romantic as Lake Como, and even fewer lakeside towns as charming as Bellagio. Called "the Pearl of Lake Como", Bellagio is a perfect destination for a relaxing vacation with pizzazz and enchanting panoramas.
Bellagio is situated in a picturesque position on Lake Como, on the tip of the promontory which juts into the lake and separates it into two branches, with Como to the west and Lecco to the east. The town has always had an aristocratic dignity, and has drawn respite seekers for centuries. It has an elegant air yet with the water sports and mountain activities, is not a stuffy place, either.
The most ancient part of Bellagio occupies that area at the end of the promontory and is known as 'the Borgo'. It is a pretty combination of stairways lined with colorful shops with the finest quality merchandise and excellent restaurants, little piazzas and sidewalk cafes. Numerous little characteristic hamlets are scattered both along the lake and the hilly slopes above the Borgo, and there are walking paths connecting them. Arcades with shops below, flower boxes, decorative iron balconies and cobbled lanes make for an attractive atmosphere. Bellagio retains Old World appeal.
Because it has been a getaway for wealthy dignitaries, there are many villas around the town, some with spectacular gardens. Don't miss Villa Melzi's garden with scultpures and the park of Villa Serbelloni. A scenic spot you'll want to visit is Punt Spartivento, literally "divide the wind" where the promontory comes to a point in the lake. Stop for a drink in the warm wood-laid historic Caffe Rossi, which retains the fittings and charm of a by-gone age, with tables under the arcade. The Museum of Navigational Instruments is an interesting stop, and there are plenty of water sports, boat trips and hikes in the hills to enjoy, too. A tourist train lets you see a bit further afield, or you can catch a ferry to Varenna for a day.

Summer in Europe!
#myhiddengems Bellagio, Italy!Bellagio is the most famous of the towns along the shores of Lake Como.Feels so alive. Spectacular scenery and gardens. Absolutely loved walking round the gardens. With such a prime location, and with frequent boats ferrying visitors between Bellagio and the other mid-lake cities, Bellagio has a little something for everyone – stunning scenery, a flower filled waterfront promenade, beautiful hotels, wine tasting, fine dining, and some great shopping.
Has a lovely museum which tells the history of the villa. So glad we visited this place. We enjoyed it. I definitely recommend it.
Ferry Trip on Lago di Como
If you’re near the lake Como, you should take the ferry boat and travel around the cities. From Como to Bellagio the trip takes about 2-3 hours, and you can buy the return ticket and return with any of the later ferries. Bellagio is great for a day, walk around and enjoy the city, have lunch and coffee by the lake.
Beware that Bellagio is a smaller city and is one of the most touristy locations on the lake, so it’s full almost any time.
🇮🇹 Best place to stay in Bellagio, Lake Como
#italytrip
While many might be tempted to stay by the lake, I wanted to recommend this hidden gem just a few minutes away from the city centre!
⛰️Reason 1: You get a whole different perspective - the hotel is located on top of a mountain, which means you get a unique bird eye view of the beautiful town by the lake! We find this to be the best view we have had on our trip to Lake Como!
🚙 Reason 2: You get to avoid the crowds for your stay and it is actually very convenient to get to the busy area to check out the city too when you feel like it! The hotel has a shuttle that take you to the city centre and back, the whole journey cost 5 Euro and 10 minutes, and the hotel is able to organise shuttle services for you very efficiently!
💵 Reason 3: Great value for money and thoughtful hotel services - living slightly outside of the tourist hotspots also mesns you get more value as the staffs are more able to take good care of you due to lower crowd plus the rate is really good for what you get! They even have dedicated tour manager to help organise any activities that you would be interested in exploring!

Traveling in Italy (3): Bellagio
Bellagio is located at the intersection of the two branches of Lake Como, surrounded by water on three sides, offering unparalleled panoramic views.
Bellagio itself does not have a train station; you must take a car or boat from Como town or Varenna to get there.
Because it is situated at the confluence of the two legs of the 'Y' shape, its unique geographical location provides an exceptionally wide perspective. Climbing the mountain behind it, you can see the entire lake area and surrounding towns. It is said that on clear days, you can see the cathedral of Milan and even Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe on the French-Italian border.
Bellagio is a typical Italian town with narrow, winding cobblestone streets, stone walls covered in vines, and beautifully decorated small shops.
The town's cobblestone alleys are built along the hillside, with gift shops, wine cellars, and small restaurants lining the steps.
There are two famous villas in Bellagio: Villa Serbelloni and Villa Melzi. The latter was once the villa of Melzi, a famous politician from the Napoleonic era. The villa's garden is filled with lush plants, adorned with marble statues and Arab-style pavilions.
Villa Melzi was built between 1808 and 1813. This French-style building houses countless tropical plants, full of exotic charm. This villa was the place where Napoleon's king used to linger and rest.

Stunning scenery at Lake Como
The lake is surrounded by mountains, creating a breathtaking background. The lake is perfect for relaxing boat rides, water activities, hiking, and exploring the little towns along the shoreline.
There are three charming towns along the lake como, namely Bellagio, Varenna and Como. They are offering historical sites, gardens, and beautiful cafes.
If you want to unwind, day trip to Lake Como is definitely a good ideal place.
Charming Tranquility of Villa Melzi
The majestic Villa Melzi d'Eril is located on the shores of Lake Como in the picturesque town of Bellagio, while the peaceful gardens of Villa Melzi (Giardini di Villa Melzi) stretch around it, hugging the lake.
Both the villa and the gardens were built in the early 19th century as the summer home of an Italian duke. The gardens were designed in the English style with statues. On the territory there is a traditional greenhouse (which today houses a museum) and a small chapel.
Inside the museum you will find a bust of Napoleon and a set of ceremonial keys from Milan. The Melzi family is buried in a small chapel.
Although the villa itself is closed to the public, there are plenty of walking paths in the gardens, which are ideal for privacy. Some trails run right along the lake, there are flowering plants on the opposite side, and benches are placed along the road.
Visit the gardens during a full-day walking and boat tour of Lake Como to explore the nearby town of Varenna, taste the local olive oil and enjoy a boat ride on the lake.
Pay attention to the historical Venetian gondola on display in the garden, which was brought here at the request of Napoleon.
Now let's talk in more detail about the gardens.
They were implemented between 1808 and 1810.The customer is Duke Francesco Melzi d'Eril (1753-1816), who was vice-president of the Italian Republic under Napoleon, and then the chief chancellor of the Italian Kingdom.
English-style gardens enriched with sculptures.Created on the rocky shore of Lake Como, around a 3-storey villa.
We just walk, sometimes not forgetting to open umbrellas, we go, carefully looking where we step-puddles everywhere. We are not in a hurry, we just walk and look, admire, inhaling the purest air of the lake. Crystal drops that have fallen on beautiful flowers beckon to capture them...

Welcome to Bellagio!
#familytrips2024
Welcome to Bellagio, a small quaint town of Italy where every angle and part of it looks so picture perfect that it looks like a painting. Bellagio can be a day trip if you're travelling from Milan since it's a short train ride away.
I urge you to explore this little Bellagio town because the view from the sea with the mountains as the background is just so picturesque. Spot the tuscan buildings, houses that line the hills and boats docked by the bay - everything is so quaint and the air feels fresh too. Love it at Bellagio, it's really so pretty!
Basilica of St. Giacomo Church
#familytrips2024
One of the attractions that one must visit, while in Bellagio Italy would be this famous church called the Basilica of Saint Giacomo Church. There is no admission fee and it is free to enter and tour around this beautiful church. You will be overwhelmed with a sense of peace and serenity as you visit this church. The architecture of it is breath taking and even though this church is of a very long history, it's remains are well kept and well maintained. It's worth a visit the next time you're here.
Along a beautiful lake Como
Lake Como, located in northern Italy, is known for its beautiful scenery and rich nature. There are many different types of tours on Lake Como, from group sightseeing tours to romantic tours and even tours that are likely to become popular in the future.
Lake Como, lined with beautiful villas, is a place beloved by Italian royalty and aristocrats, where you can spend a stylish and glamorous time. It's a different way to enjoy it than the city of Milan.
Lake Como's restaurants offer a wide variety of cuisines, from Mediterranean to seafood, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and there are plenty of places to enjoy delicious food throughout the day, from breakfast to lunch to dinner.
You can also enjoy a wide variety of desserts and snacks at Lake Como's cafes, including the best ice cream, fried calamari/octopus, mussels, sandwiches, tuna, meringues, curry dishes, polenta, steak tartare, bolognese, gelato, cod, hummus, and more.
Bistrot Restaurant Antichi Sapori Italy
#familytrips2024
As a family who love carbs, we always find ourselves eating pastas when we were travelling in Italy, Bellagio. We had one of the best and yummiest pastas at Bistrot Restaurant Antichi Sapori. Their pesto pasta, risotto and even a simple carbonara were simply divine. Pair it with glasses of chardonnay, and that makes the perfect family meal in Italy. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, alfresco dining is a must here. For desserts, Tiramisu classico is served a cute mini plant pot. We love it here at Antichi Sapori!
A Morning Run Around Lake Como
The early autumn at Lake Como is even more serene, with the morning air carrying a coolness, like a Mojito with added ice.
I thought I could circle Lake Como just as I did with West Lake, but it turned out that I still lack exercise and could only taste a little of the experience. However, along the way, I still saw the wandering scenery and the fit figures of morning runners, which goes to show that a good physique is the result of self-discipline.
Many of the interior decorations here are textbook examples of renovation, with clean lines and lake-view balconies, making it an ideal place to escape from the world.
