Learn about the dark history of transatlantic slave trade that lasted over 4 centuries at Cape Coast Castle this summer ⛅️
It's this intense historic spot that'll hit you right in the feels. This place was a major hub for the transatlantic slave trade, and the vibes are heavy, man. Walking through those dungeons where our brothers and sisters were held captive is a chilling experience. You can almost hear their whispers and feel their pain. But it's also a powerful reminder of resilience and the fight for freedom. The views from the castle are insane, overlooking the crashing waves and golden sands. It's like a bittersweet mix of beauty and sorrow. So, if you're up for a dose of real history and a chance to reflect, Cape Coast Castle is a must-visit. Just be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster~
Transatlantic Slave Trade Castle
📍Cape Coast Castle in Ghana 🇬🇭
If you want to learn more about the history of the transatlantic slave trade then I highly recommend you visit the castle.
Your admissions ticket includes a tour with a guide. The tour last about 45 minutes.
During your tour you will learn about the terrors that took place in the castle’s dungeons. This is where slaves were forced to stay while waiting to be shipped out.
May we learn from history so that it will never repeat itself.

Beautiful Kukum National Park
Getting There - 175 km from Accra, Ghana. The drive is about 3 hours and 40 minutes. The ride has beautiful views but the roads have potholes so you need to be careful.
Attractions - The main attraction at this national park is the 350m long Canopy walkway. You have the option to take a shorter canopy if you can’t handle the 350meters on the wobbly canopy. The cost for foreigners is 100 Cedis and 35 cedis for Ghanaian locals. You can also go bird watching or just hike the trails.
Hotels - There are tree houses you can stay in at Kukum National Forrest for about 200 cedis a night. This is a great way to explore the forest at night, when more animals are active and there’s a higher chance of you seeing the wildlife.
Food & Restaurants - There’s a restaurant at the main entrance of the park that offers affordable local and foreign food.
Shopping - There are shops at the entrance that sell souvenirs

Fort William in Cape Coast, Ghana is located just a few kilometers from Cape Coast Castle...right on top of a hill. It’s not as well-maintained as the castle. There’s a caretaker there who will tell you all about it’s history if you want. You can view a significant part of this township from the lighthouse. #ghana #triplocal #capecoast #fort #castle
The Cape Coast Castle is one of the most historic places to visit in Ghana or even Africa. Learnt a lot about the trans-Atlantic slave trade from this visit. It was quite an emotional experience for me. Although I forgot to take a picture, the view of the Atlantic ocean from this site is absolutely fantastic. Anyone who visits Ghana, must definitely visit this city and its castles and forts. #ghana #triplocal #historicalplace #travelinspiration
Along the Coasts of the Coast
When next in Ghana, be sure to visit the beaches in Cape Coast.
What I love most about Cape Coast beaches is that many are free to access. Some areas feature pubs and bars, allowing you to grab snacks and enjoy the view. Personally, I prefer quieter spots, so I often seek out less crowded areas. These secluded sections are just a short walk from the busier areas with pubs.
📍 : Cape Coast, Ghana (Around St. Augustine’s College)
💰 : Free entry
How to get there: You can drive or take a taxi. Ride-hailing options like Bolt are also available to take you to the beach. Just enter "St. Augustine’s College" in your map app, and it will guide you there.
Alternatively, you can drive to the beaches directly opposite the UCC old site main gate and stroll along the coast until you find your perfect spot.

🇬🇭 Cape Coast Beach Day with City View❤️

Yes, you are right! Ghana is full of amazing beaches and they are all amazing!
When you visit Ghana, it is best you visit Cape Coast as a day trip from Accra the capital city! Cape Coast has a variety of activities to do. There is a beach to chill on but what’s more is that you can get the beach views from the top of Cape Coast Castle! On the castle, you have both the bustling city view and the beach view with a rugged coastline. The beach is quite popular. After chilling on the beach, make sure you visit Elmina Castle. It is a good place to learn about the dark history of Transatlantic slave trade and to listen to their stories. There is a lot of history around the area and provides good opportunities for souvenir shoppings and beach or ocean photography!

I enjoyed going to this park. The hike to the canopy walk is about 5-10 minutes but it’s beautiful and surrounded by greenery. The canopy walk was a bit scary at first but you get used to it after a while. You can decide to go through all 7 bridges or 3. I suggest you do all 7 to get your money’s worth. You can also decide to spend the night at this park. Accommodation is pretty affordable and it has a couple of restaurants, craft stores and a picnic area. #ghana #capecoast #accra #kakum #kakumpark
Named after New Zealand's largest lake, Lake Taupo, Taupo is one of the most prestigious resorts in the heart of the North Island. It is famous for its geothermal and lake resources, and of course, the ultimate sports paradise of the North Island! Skydiving, paragliding, and water sports can all be enjoyed in Taupo. So came to Taupo, living at the lake is the task, we chose this Oasis Beach Resort, because of the high cost performance, really super cost-effective!
Oasis Beach Resort is a serviced apartment with single and one to three bedroom apartments ranging from 2 to 6 people. We have 5 people, so we chose the largest (most expensive) standalone lakeside apartment. The hotel is just beside the main road, drive the car into your own path, stop at the door of the house, parking is free.
The interior space is compact, the entire house accommodation area is one floor, 100 square meters of space is compatible with 3 bedrooms (one of the twin beds), two bathrooms (one with shower), kitchen, sofa There is a living room, breakfast table and dining room, as well as a huge sunset terrace!
I like this sunset platform very much. We basically have a uniform brush here and staged the "Old Man and the Sea".
Sunset is the favorite time of our day in the leisure department. Stroll around the lake, open the bottle of favorite Jazz Bay blueberry wine, watch the stone cracks on the shore of the lake, because of the geothermal heat, the spectacle of music
